Laura and Orin share a tense moment

Orin Hillyer
Laura cared for Orin, but she quickly grew bored with their passionless marriage. Although she was unfaithful to her husband, Laura never intentionally hurt Orin. In many ways he was more of a father figure to her. She depended upon his strength and forgiveness until the day she died.

Rick Oliver
Laura met Rick through her step-daughter Liz Hillyer and developed an immediate, animal attraction to the dark, charming lothario, becoming completely obsessed with him. Rick never really cared for Laura, preferring a more "luscious broad" like Angela Talbot. He exploited Laura's feelings for him in attempt to get his hands on the Hillyer fortune. When Laura learned the truth about Rick's intentions, tragedy ensued.
