April was hospitalized with another heart spell. Logan dated his secretary Maggie to spite Raven. Mike assigned Draper to handle the case of Sarah Peterson, a young forger. Mike worried that Saxon would use Kevin to Saxon's advantage on the crime commission. A serial killer sought red-headed victims on Block Street.
JANUARY 9 - 13, 1978:
Tony and Geraldine were married. The case was closed on the Richardson and Drake murders when Ray Harper was indicted for the crimes. April finally agreed to heart surgery and Draper's marriage proposal. Logan realized that Raven doesn't care for anyone except Draper. Before the operation, Denise threatened April, vowing to kill her if she ever mentions Denise's possible involvement in Katrhyn Dane's death. Under anesthesia, April mumbled Dane's name.

FEBRUARY 13 - 17, 1978:
April's operation was a success. She told Draper that she wasn't dreaming about Kathryn Dane's death or Denise's involvement in the crime. Deborah broke up with Steve, who dated Maggie. Raney professed his love to Deborah and hired a thug named Chip Beemer. Raven convinced Kevin to cancel his crime commission report. Nancy turned down the tv news offer, but recommended Nicole for the position. Miles fell into Nicole's arms.
FEBRUARY 20 - 24, 1978:
Denise spotted Miles kissing Nicole after she got the job at WMON. Draper assured April that he didn't propose to her out of pity. April and Draper set an April wedding date. Charlie refused to be bought off by Denise. Denise vowed to keep Charlie quiet at all costs.

Jackson, one of Saxon's cronies, either fell or was pushed from a window after Chip and Raney threatened him.

MARCH 13 - 17, 1978:
Deborah was accepted by the police academy despite Saxon's objections. It was revealed that Chip and Winter have a past association. Winter has a police record a mile long and is apparently a hooker. Denise vowed that she'd never grant Miles a divorce. Fearful that Denise will harm Nicole, April warned Denise that she'd expose Denise's involvement in the deaths of Charlie Richmond and Kathryn Dane if anything happens to Nicole.

APRIL 24 - 28, 1978:
Logan followed Raven to New York after she tipped him off that she's pregnant with his child. Miles fell for Denise's fake record of a terminal illness, which was supplied by her father Dr. Gus Norwood. Winter realized that Logan and Raven were an item, but that didn't stop her from pursuing him. April suggested to Miles that Denise is probably faking her illness.
MAY 1 - 5, 1978:
Raven panicked and wanted to leave for Europe when her doctor informed her it's too late for an abortion. Geraldine insisted that Raven tell Kevin the truth. Denise conned Miles into spending her "last days" with her. Miles resigned from Roper's Clinic, as did Nurse Teresa Worthington, because David is marrying an old girlfriend. Raney was jealous that Deborah graduated the police academy and accepted a date to the policeman's ball with Steve. Mike decided to return to the crime commission.

Doctors weren't hopeful about Mike's eyesight. Saxon wanted to know if Raney was responsible for the attack on Mike, but Raney denied any knowledge of the incident. Steve and Deborah argued about her father's possible involvement in Mike's attack.
MAY 29 - JUNE 2, 1978:
Raven and Kevin reconciled to save his political career. Tony Saxon was suspected of being behind Mike's blinding. Deborah insisted that she'll prove her father's innocence and refused to work on the case with Steve. April had pregnancy problems but kept quiet regarding Raven's story about Draper. Tree suspected that Denise isn't really terminally ill.

JUNE 26 - 30, 1978:
Miles overheard a conversation between Denise and Gus that exposed her lies. The joke was on Denise when Gus admitted that he never falsified the lab report, so Denise really is dying. No one believed Denise's new tale. Denise plotted to take Miles to the grave with her. Mike began therapy after his bandages were removed. April learned that she can never have children and blamed Denise. Nicole rebuffed Ben's advances, opting to wait for Miles.
JULY 3 - 7, 1978:
Gus caught Denise trying to poison Miles and had an attack. April recalled having an out-of-body experience after the fall and insisted that she's having visions of the future. Tony was unhappy that Deborah accepted Raney's ring. Miles and Nicole were reunited. Draper feared that April is becoming unhinged.
JULY 10 - 14, 1978:
Denise led witnesses to believe that Miles is mortally threatening her. While horseback riding in the woods, Steve and Deborah sought shelter during a storm and reconciled. Logan romanced Winter and uncovered proof that Chip was responsible for the attacks on Jackson, Mike, and himself. Gus vowed to stop Denise's murder plot, but he suffered a massive stroke before he could warn Miles.
JULY 17 - 21, 1978:

Miles and Draper arrived to find Denise's dead body and a syringe at her side. Winter and Logan became engaged.

Deborah found clues that linked Tony to the Monticello Uniform Company and realized that he might be guilty.
JULY 31 - AUGUST 4, 1978:
Raven teased Winter that Raven was Logan's first choice as a wife. Tony secretly met with Raney, who agreed to kill Mike. Later, Raney kidnapped Mike. Sheriff Hagen grilled April about her fingerprints being on the syringe used to kill Denise. Because of Deborah, Steve relieved himself from the Saxon investigation. Bill tracked Mike, who has a tracer planted in his cane.
AUGUST 7 - 11, 1978:
Raney realized that Mike had a tracer planted in his cane and threw it away. Bill lost track of Mike and Raney who arrived at a deserted warehouse on the riverfront. Raney taunted Mike, then pushed him down a flight of stairs and left him to die. Tony paid off Raney for disposing of Mike. Raven accused Deborah of trying to steal her husband after Raven caught Deborah crying on Kevin's shoulder. April continued to hear voices and have strange visions.

Carol was jealous of the warmth between Miles and Winter.
AUGUST 21 - 25, 1978:
Mike regained consciousness and named Raney as his assailant. Raney showed Deborah proof of Saxon's criminal activities, then forced her to go with him to a remote cabin. After Tony confessed his crimes to a startled Geraldine, he followed Raney and Deborah to the cabin. Raney shot and killed an innocent hiker who stumbled upon the cabin. After Deborah tried to escape, Raney forced her to take an overdose of sleeping pills. April's trial was moved from Mayfield to Monticello.
AUGUST 28 - SEPTEMBER 1, 1978:
Tony couldn't convince Raney to free Deborah as a hostage and drew on a gun on him. During an exchange of gunfire, Tony was seriously wounded. As the police arrived, Raney forced Deborah into a getaway car. Deborah managed to run down Raney, who was killed in a shootout with the police. Before he died, Saxon told Geraldine that he always loved her. Logan and Mike speculated that district attorney Ira Paulsen will be in a quandry whether or not to push for April's first-degree murder conviction, since Ira wants to run for elective office.
SEPTEMBER 4 - 8, 1978:
Winter put up a fight for Logan when Raven made another attempt to win him back. April admitted that Raven claimed her baby was fathered by Draper, who denied it. The police commissioner asked Deborah to turn in her badge since she was Saxon's daughter. April had a vision that Logan would prosecute her, but Logan insisted that he wouldn't.
SEPTEMBER 11 - 15, 1978:
Deborah refused to turn in her resignation and investigated a wife-beating case. Mr. Brennan, the husband, fell through a window to his death during a confrontation with Deborah, who was suspended. Mrs. Brennan later stalked Deborah. April had nightmares about Raven's accusations, then ran away. Winter pushed Logan for a quick wedding, and admitted that there's much he doesn't know about her past. Raven learned that April is missing. Kevin warned Raven not to tell the police about April.

Nicole was suspicious that Margo is interested in Miles. Kevin told Raven that he wants a divorce.

Raven pleaded with Logan to marry her because Kevin wants a divorce and Logan's child won't have a father. Bill welcomed Deborah back on the police force.
OCTOBER 9 - 13, 1978:
Miles realized that Denise injected herself with the lethal syringe in order to frame him, not April, for murder. April's trial began. Mike suggested in court that Denise committed suicide. Tree testified that Denise had expected Miles, not April, the day of her death. Wade harassed Winter about joining his new porno ring, or he'd sponsor a Winter Austen film festival for Logan. Raven told Logan she'd spread ugly gossip about him if he doesn't lie to Kevin that he forced himself on her. Nicole grew jealous of Margo's possessive attitude toward Miles.
OCTOBER 16 - 20, 1978:
Elliot Dorn, leader of the Children of the Earth cult, arrived in Monticello and identified the dead girl as Joanne Jensen. Joanne's mother refused to believe that she committed suicide. Elliot smooth-talked Deborah. Margo split from Wade's porno activities. Logan was urged by community groups to rid their neighborhoods of pornography. During April's trial, Carol had an airtight alibi when it was suggested that she had cause to murder Denise.
OCTOBER 23 - 27, 1978:
Mike suggested that April change her plea to guilty by reason of sanity. April nixed Mike's suggestion, claiming that she didn't kill Denise. Another Children of the Earth member was found drowned. Winter went to Wade's bed in order to save Logan's career, after Wade threatened to expose Winter's porno past to the public. Wade secretly taped their lovemaking. The Karrs were stunned when the police informed Mike about Draper's death. April went off the deep end after hearing that Draper had been killed. Draper broke the news to Raven and Geraldine that Kevin had borrowed his car to stop Raven and died in the crash. Raven played the devastated widow, enraging Geraldine. It was revealed that Deborah is working undercover for Bill by investigating the Children. April's cellmates are convinced that she's a witch. Howard admitted to Mike that he's dying and offered to will his corneas to him, if Mike agrees to save Diana from The Children of the Earth cult.

Miles realized what might have really happened the day Denise died and planned to exonerate April with Draper's help.
