Mortally injured, Sara died five days later. PERILS: Held at gunpoint (September 1959) by killer Maximillian Bryer. USELESS TRIVIA:Sara was the second major tv serial character to be killed-off. Sara's demise caused such an outcry among disturbed viewers that actress Teal Ames appeared on camera the following day, explaining her reasons for leaving the show. Edge producers gave Teal a kinescope of her death scene as a going-away gift. PERFORMER UPDATE: Actress Teal Ames moved to Northern California and married shortly after leaving "The Edge of Night." She later became a licensed family counselor and makes an occasional TV appearance (General Hospital, Nash Bridges). Teal currently lives in Northern California.
