ACT 1
In a Monticello hospital Room
Geraldine Whitney lies in a coma. Close up of her heart monitor as she flashes back to the events that put her in the hospital:
Geraldine descends the stairs of the Whitney mansion and finds her son-in-law, Noel Douglas, and his girlfriend Tracy Dallas making out and in the beginnings of foreplay. "NOEL!" she says as she startles the pair. She continues to scold the man. Tracy makes excuses. Noel says that he thought that the house was empty. Geraldine informs him that she got to the airport and sent Tiffany ahead. Something told her to return to the house. Noel says that he was drunk and "the young lady" brought some papers over for him to sign and he got carried away.
Geraldine tells them that she knows "that young lady" is Tracy Dallas and knows all about her past, the apartment number in the house that she worked at in Chicago, and the names of all the girls that she worked with.
Geraldine tells them to leave the house. Tracy runs out. Geraldine orders Noel to vacate the place. He snaps back that he lives there. She tells him to take "that woman somewhere else for your recreation. Take her to that apartment that you are paying for with Tiffany’s money."
She went on to say that Tiffany may want to get one last look "but I can’t bear the sight of you!". Noel leaves and slams the door. Geraldine watches the door in disgust and then begins to slowly climb the stairs in time to the "tick-tock" of the grandfather clock.
The scene jumps back to the present. The camera pans Geraldine lying in the bed and then takes another close up of the monitor. The flashback continues:
Geraldine screams as she tumbles down the stairs and lands disheveled and unconscious on the floor at the bottom of the staircase. The camera now takes the point of view of Geraldine’s assailant as the person leaves the house. The front door is left open.
In the present, the nurse enters the room. We get a close up of Geraldine moving her fingers.
The flashback continues:
Phone in the Whitney foyer rings as Kevin Jamison hurriedly opens the door and enters the house to answer it. The other party had already hung up. He hangs up the phone and turns to move further in the house and sees Mrs. Whitney lying unconscious stretched out like a doll over the bottom three steps. "Geraldine. Oh my God!" he says in horror.
Scene 2:
Location establishing shot of Monticello General Hospital.
In Geraldine’s hospital room
Tiffany enters and chats with the nurse. She comments on how Geraldine is moving her hand. The nurse asks about Tiffany’s "brother", Kevin. Tiffany tells her that he is in Paris investigating the case of a woman who came out of a coma like the one in which Geraldine now suffers.
Scene 3:
Location shot of the Eiffel Tower.
In an apartment house hallway.
Dr. Calmette, a French physician, tells Kevin not to trouble the woman with too many questions. She is still unclear about her past and her present. The apartment door opens and the woman apologizes for keeping them waiting. Kevin turns, looks, and says "Nicole my God ! Don’t you know me?". The doctor asks Kevin if he knows the woman. "This is Nicole Travis. Nicole Travis Drake!" he replies.

ACT 2
Scene 1
A Parisian apartment.
Kevin tells Nicole that he can’t believe that he is standing there watching her. Kevin starts to explain to Nicole and the doctor who she is:
Kevin: We assumed that she was dead. Nicole Drake was lost at sea off the island of St. Anthony.
You were with your husband, Adam Drake, your husband. You must remember Adam?
Look at me. I’m Kevin Jamison. If that doesn’t mean something try Adam. Adam Drake.
(Nicole obviously doesn't know what he is talking about)
Kevin: Then try Mike Karr. Mike and Nancy Karr were your best friends. Mike and Adam were law partners back home.
Confused Nicole gets up and walks away, but Kevin continues:
"Adam Drake was running for the senate when this happened. The woman that I told you about in a coma Mrs. Geraldine Whitney, she was sponsoring and managing his campaign. But there were people who didn’t want him to win. People who were willing to assassinate him first. That’s when Nicole was lost. You were on your honeymoon. There was a boat that was lost at sea."
The doctor tells Kevin to take it easy. Nicole says that she can’t remember anything. Kevin goes on to explain that Adam was thought to be the sole survivor but that is a lie because Nicole is alive. Nicole gets upset and runs from the room.
Scene 2
Geraldine’s Hospital room.
The nurse leaves and Noel Douglas enters. He explains to Tiffany that he tried to get here as fast as he could so they could go home together. Tiffany notes that his work day is getting shorter. Noel takes offense and implies that Tiffany is calling him lazy.
Noel comments that Geraldine has her eyes open again and says that he wishes that they were closed when he’s there. He doesn’t like to look at her like that. It’s so grotesque, unnatural. Her eyes should be shut.
"Like a dead person’s?" asked Tiffany. Noel changes the subject and tells her that they must leave now before Kevin calls.
As they are heading for the door Tiffany asks her husband to touch Geraldine’s hand. After trying to get out of it, Noel does. Geraldine grabs and squeezes his hand. He recoils in pain and shock. Noel gives Geraldine a damning glare as he leaves the room and her eyes follow him.

Act 3
Scene 1
A Parisian apartment.
Dr Calmette asks Kevin to tell him more about Nicole. Kevin begins:
"Adam and Nicole were on a trip… They were off on a small island in the Caribbean called St. Anthony. It was a belated honeymoon. We all knew how much they were looking forward to it. It clearly took them long enough to get married. Adam finally came to his senses and realized that he loved Nicole. He really did."
Flashback to the Drakes honeymooning: Nicole is on the terrace of the cottage on St Anthony admiring the beautiful scenery. She calls Adam out and they gaze at the beach. Nicole says that she is ecstatic. Adam asks that if she intended to give him a hard time when its time to go home. Nicole says that it is their first morning there and she doesn’t want to hear one word about their last day there.
"But it was their last morning together. At least that’s what everyone thought’’ Kevin continued. The doctor said that he remembered reading about the assassination attempt.
Kevin: It was quite awhile before the truth came out. That the mob was trying to elect their own man. Adam Drake was just too good a candidate for them. So they just decided to do something about it. They chose their own time and place. It was aboard a big sailboat. A beautiful sailboat called the Sprite owned by an ex-mobster who had a home on St. Anthony. And he was willing to do his old friends an extraordinary favor. So he invited Adam and Nicole aboard that afternoon.
Flashback to Adam and Nicole frolicking on the Sprite: Adam and Nicole voice-overs over the Sprite location scenes:
Nicole: It really is a honeymoon isn’t it? Honeymoon that we both dreamed about.
Adam: …First day in the Caribbean and we are sailing off into the sunset.
Nicole: And the moonlight. I’m rather looking forward to the moonlight. Adam, do you think that we will always feel this way about each other?
Adam: I can only speak for myself.
Nicole: Speak then.
Adam: I’ll never stop loving you Nicole.
Nicole: And I you.
Kevin’s narration continues over Sprite scenes: It was truly… the perfect honeymoon. Except one thing. A bomb was planted in the engine room.
Flashback to Floyd Porter’s hands placing the bomb on the engine. Then to the clock strapped to the sticks of dynamite striking 8:00 pm and the Sprite explodes at sea.
"The Sprite was completely destroyed. The wreckage was strewn for miles".
Kevin continued saying that Adam was the only one found. The other seamen’s bodies were found. He added that Adam had become psychotic when he was told that Nicole wasn’t found. Adam remained on the island and demanded that the authorities continue the search. He was right to have so much faith Kevin and the doctor realized.
They surmised that Nicole must have hung on to some wreckage which drifted her to the island where she was found.
Kevin told the doctor that Adam is alive and well but time went on and he accepted Nicole’s death.
"He had to go on. Do you understand?’ he asked the doctor.

He said that during the blackouts she imagines herself to be another woman, Josie, who alters her appearance and personality to be completely different from Serena. When asked about here relationship with Timmy, Quentin says that Josie felt protective of the boy and didn’t mean harm to him. Mike finally asks if Serena could be harmed and Quentin said he sees no reason why that can’t happen.
Mark Faraday’s lawyer, Richard Jaffe, questions Quentin about "the dark-haired lady" and the fact that Timmy’s school removed him because of his emotional state. Jaffe brings up that Timmy is presently being cared for by his "esteemed opponent" Mike Karr and that Quentin is prejudiced since he is close to Mike, Nancy, Brandy and Adam. Nancy Karr is questioned by Richard Jaffe. He tries to establish that she is keeping Timmy because she thinks that Serena is not good for the boy. He asks Nancy if it is true that Nancy discovered that Serena’s rather bizarre affliction made her an unfit parent.
After Mike’s objection was sustained, Jaffe asked if it was Nancy who was first to unmask Serena Faraday.
Nancy said that wasn’t true…She had unmasked Josie. Nancy explains in the flashback:
Nancy went to Serena’s hotel room to help her find an apartment but she found Josie there instead. They argued about Josie being involved with Johnny and Laurie. Nancy insisted on seeing Timmy, who was locked in the bedroom. She bolted for the door. Josie blocked her. Nancy grabbed her hair. The wig came off. "Serena!" Nancy exclaimed.
Jaffe said that if Timmy locked himself in the bedroom he must have been afraid of something or some one. Nancy agreed.
Jaffe called Johnny Dallas to the stand and questioned him about Josie’s connection to known criminals. Johnny reluctantly answers that Josie was acquainted with Gerald Kincaid. Jaffe points out that Kincaid is currently facing indictment and that Johnny stated in his deposition to the police that Kincaid had used Josie to enlist h is (Johnny’s) aid in criminal activities.
Johnny confirmed that Gerald Kincaid used Josie to rope him in. "He almost succeeded. But not quite"
Jaffe summarized, "So the woman known as Josie was more than the fun loving high spirited young lady. She was the consort of dangerous criminals".
Before Mike Karr could object, Jaffe declared no more questions.
