* Christian Dior Award*
About a month ago, May managed
to obtain Helen's (Kenix's manager) office address. After several
checking thru a friend from Hong Kong (HK), May sent Helen an email telling
her about our visit. Surprisingly,
she responded! She was happy to know about the international fans from
the forum and glad to hear about our visit to HK during 13 - 20 Nov. However,
she found it will be great & meaningful for Kenix if we
could postpone the trip a week later, during Kenix's birthday. As such,
she will arrange for us to sit in for Christine Dior award presentation
for Kenix. This was to be kept as a secret for Kenix as she was still
not aware of the award. Without any consideration, 3 of us had agreed to
the change & called the travel agency to have our schedule
changed. That started our countdown & Lydia's decision to join in
for the trip. At the same time, Ms Dale made the announcement to all here
about the meeting. You were invited to send in birthday greetings for Kenix.
In addition, 2 fans, Lee Nee & Ho, from Malaysia have taken
extra effort in buying presents & making cards for Kenix. Here, on
behalf of Kenix & Helen, they have expressed their sincere thank you
to Ho & Lee Nee for the presents. & cards & all fans for the
birthday greetings. (PS : Tim and Samantha from Taiwan, Kenix remembered
you! She recalled when seeing your greeting mentioning "Kenix,
I love you.". She asked for you gender.) During our countdown, there were
several emails trading between Helen & May.
A day before we left, Helen had
called to confirm that she would be dropping by the hotel that we were
putting up at. She would want to welcome us & say hello to us face
to face. Also, she would brief us on the Nov 25 Most Promising Actress
1999 award presentation. Dale, Pris & May flew in with excitement on
Nov 20. Guess what? Helen visited us that evening! She told us that the
news about "Christian Dior Award" have been disclosed much earlier to Kenix
by a local paper. Helen decided to tell Kenix about our visit first. So,
it didn't turn out to be a surprise for Kenix after all, but Kenix was
very happy and touch when Helen told her about us! Helen actually said
this to Kenix: "Your group of fans are really nice and thoughtful. They
are very refine and gentle! This is really flattering! Helen is really
a very nice lady and she is extremely warm! She would hold our hands and
tell us how touch she was when we showed her all the things we did for
Kenix! (i.e. the folders that Dale and Pris had done for Kenix) The thing
that get her very excited is when she saw the file of messages and birthday
greetings from you guys! (We've collected all the messages together with
beautiful motifs and Kenix pixs. We have also added a few Anita Mui's posters
in the folder which Kenix was sooo surprised to see)! Helen had photo-stated
a copy of the greetings for Kenix to read before we gave her the original
copy during the award presentation. Helen told us her plan for the entire
event which got us all so excited!
Then, Lydia came in on Nov 24 evening
after her completion of examination.
On Nov 25, we had lunch with Helen
at 1.30 pm. We started dressing up & colouring (Hee Hee, makeup loh!)
about 2 hours before the appointment. We chatted happily during lunch &
Helen had already let Kenix known about
our appearance. Thanks Helen for the lunch! Again she showed us how sincere
she was in meeting us!!! Although we were already too
excited to eat, we had an enjoyable lunch and chat
with Helen. From the conversation with Helen, we were really touched by
her sincerity and warm. She really treated us as her
personal friends rather than Kenix's fans. She's really very nice and sincere.
Finally the time for the event is about to start at 3.30pm!!!! My goodness!
Heartbeat kept accelerating! Slow down please!!!
We walked into Shangri-la (Hong Kong) Hotel Ballroom C. We met Ah-Tian
& Sandra (one of Kenix's
assistant) from Helen's company & 20 others Kenix's fans from HK. Lots
of reporters from local press & local &
overseas TV stations. ( Taiwan fans, lookout for Kenix's interview by TVBS.
She was interviewed in Chinese! )
We were all waiting patiently for
Kenix to arrive! Suddenly somebody shouted out "Lei La Lei La"
(meaning "here she comes")! Than Dale and Pris heard many shouting "Ho
Ying, Ho Ying!!!!!" and we quickly turn our heads,
(we were sitting at the last rows of seat near to the exit) we immediately
saw Kenix right in front of us!
SHE IS SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! We nearly stop breathing but still gasping our
breath when Kenix walked in her long yellow dress with a smiling face.
Wow! Elegant! Gorgeous! Pretty! I guess tc and CM would faint if they were
here. Her beauty and grace are beyond words can describe.
Her appearance caught everyone's attention and she dress like a fairy in
pale yellow! Her face is so refine and delicate. So small and sweet.
In fact, Kenix is really very refinely built. As she started walking towards
the stage, Dale and Lydia were already busy with their cameras. As she
started walking towards the stage, Dale and Lydia started snapping pixs
from all angles! Before they could squeezzzzeeee their way to the front,
there are already so many reporters and fans crowding around Kenix when
she stands on stage. The flashes of cameras were all over her. Dale quickly
run to the front and try to get a good spot to take a close up pix of such
beautiful maiden. However, she is short compared to those big guys (camera
men). she has to force her way a bit to get some good shots. Lydia was
also pushed around by those reporters despite of her size.
You guys must be wondering where
is Pris and May, haha, they are still recovering from their thrills of
seeing the fairy from heaven!!!!
Pris should be doing the jobs of snapping the pixs as she is taller but
she
is just too happy that she forgot
all about it (sorry!!!) Those reporters were really aggressive. Some of
them brought ladders with them.
Nonetheless, Lydia and Dale took many candic shots of the entire
event. THREE CHEERS FOR OUR DEAR
DALE AND LYDIA!!!! We hope it all turn out well.
After a round of "photo snatching" section, everybody were told to return
to their seats for the event to start. The Management
from Christian Dior had a speech first. He started off by saying Kenix
started her stardom after the beauty pageant she participated in
1993. Though she was not crown the top 3 seats however,
she had already shown great potential in acting. That's why she was crown
the award as "The Most Potential Contestant". This mark the
path of her acting career. For the past years, Kenix's roles in
various drama series & her hard work had gain audience's acceptance.
Kenix had strive hard in all her roles, from her
many roles, Jessie of DIF was so memorable and well-like by audiences.
Christian Dior had decided to choose Kenix out of the
many actresses on their list because Kenix's image is so
approachable and healthy. She possess both beauty and talent. That makes
her overall good to stand out from
others. The company sees her potential for 1999, Kenix was awarded a plague
& a Christine Dior watch with 24 diamonds round
the watch(this watch was exclusively made for her only). Kenix : "I
am very happy to receive the recognition & will put in more effort
to seek for improvement".
Lots of cameras were busying snapping.
So are Dale and Lydia, Pris was busy changing the films for
them. The lights were off. A big cake(heart-shaped) from Helen was rolled
in after Kenix speech while the birthday song was playing. Again lots of
snapping pixs of Kenix with the cake and then she made a wish,
blow the candle and cut the cake. Helen and her staff invited all fans
to present their gifts and present to Kenix. The fans started
to give her birthday greeting & presents. (Ho, lookout for the box
at the corner of the picture, Your present has arrived safely to Kenix!
Lydia had taken a photo of your present on stage. Kenix was
so happy when she saw her fans rushing on stage with gifts and presents
for her, especially when she saw Lydia carrying
the big and heavy cross-stitched to her from the four of us. (Dale did
a cross-stitch with 12 fair maiden
of different hair style and dressings to give it to Kenix. This is because
Kenix always surprise us with different images and Dale thought the 12
little maidens really say
something about her refreshing and girly image. She thanked us. We saw
tears gathering in Kenix eyes. She seems trying
hard to control her tears from falling (the scene is so touching and you
can't bear to see her like that) Kenix could no
longer hold her tear and she let it down. Helen was comforting and
patting her shoulder while she tried to wipe it off. (Dale was so touched
that she couldn't hold her tears anymore). Kenix was
touched by the arrangement, she was invited to give some words. Kenix started
with : "I am so happy to receive this award during my birthday. Although
it isn't a very big award but to her, it's very encouraging.
Kenix said that her five-year journey in the entertainment circle has been
quite smooth. This award is proof that her efforts are not wasted.
She said for the past two years, though she has put in
hard effort to do her roles, but hard work may not reap rewards. Nevertheless,
it shouldn't be an excuse for not trying, but a call for doubling
our efforts. She is happy that her acting skills are
appreciated and not forgotten. She was even moved when she saw her fans
coming to celebrate and support her.
Some even flown in from far away country". Tears started rolling down her
cheeks, then Kenix sobbed sobbed sobbed.
Kenix: "I get affected easily, that's why I can't send people off at the
airport." Helen given her a tissue paper and comforted her. The HK fans
and Lydia down the stage consoled
her:" Ho ying, Don't cry!"
We ate the cake while the press
conference was going on. Kenix was being interviewed by many TV
stations and one of them were from TVBS!!! Taiwan fans, look out for it!!!
She was interviewed in Mandarin and her little little gestures were so
cute when she was trying so hard to speak in Mandarin. She would grin for
relieve when the camera was not on her. She is really cute and natural!!
Haha, she even commented after that she don't know
whether people could understand her Mandarin. But to our surprise, Kenix
is a fast learner. She told the reporter or Helen what she wanted to say,
they translated it into Mandarin
and she pick it up very fast and straight say it out into the camera !!
Then, here came our most unforgettable
moment! We were being introduced to Kenix one by one. She
was so happy to see us and she held our hands for so long and so tight.
No doubt her hands were cold, the warmth that she
gave us thru' her gestures were beyond words. You sure know what was up
next. Taking photo loh! I am sorry that we cannot
release our pictures here! We presented the presents, cards &
greetings to her personally. Guess what! She had also remember Lydia when
she saw her birthday cards with friendship
bands (Lydia had given her the similar friendship bands when she saw Kenix
in Genting earlier on). May and Pris
were also so happy when Kenix liked the choker that they gave her.
She instantly held the choker on her neck!! When Pris gets to see Kenix
face to face, Pris was stunned by Kenix's beauty and was lost
for words for a moment, she was very excited and ..... she said: "Kenix,
you're are so beautiful!!!" Kenix smile so sweetly at Pris and Dale and
reply: "You are pretty too" and she pinch and stroke both their cheeks.
That kind of warm gestures were again beyond words can describe.
You guys should see how happy Dale and Pris were!!!!! Kenix said that she
wanted to have dinner with us on her birthday. Helen had made the neccessary
arrangement for us. After our conversation, she made time to take
photo & sign autograph for the HK fans. She is forever so obliging
to her supporters.
We left the ballroom together.
We helped to carry Kenix's presents to her car while she went to change
into her casual wear with Helen.
Once again, at the hotel lobby,
she had reminded 4 of us about the dinner & with a wink at us &
a flying kiss, she drove off with Helen. We left the hotel
still feeling excited and not enough, especially Lydia.
She was feeling so high & could not stop smiling. However, we know
that we are going to have another appointment with Kenix. We
are hoping to talk to her more on that day! We went shopping to release
our excitement. However, we regretted after that because we have spent
lots of $$$!
