Thanks the lucky 4 for sharing
your happy moments.
The second meeting with
Kenix on her birthday!
Dinner with Kenix was at 7.30 pm. We
went to get Kenix a big bouquet of white lilies with pink roses. We
have been caught in a traffic jam which
really geared up our excitement. Luckily, we arrived safely &
punctually. No one was there in the room (an enclosed dinning room in the
restaurant). We were excited. Lydia
was so nervous that she had told Pris that she really didn't know what
would happen later. Shortly, Kenix's
friend came into the room. Then, followed by the staff of Helen company.
Kenix arrived with
Frankie & her 2 sisters. The couple is really matching! Kenix looked
beautiful in that outfit! Kenix was happy to see
us! After presenting the bouquet to her, she wanted to take pictures with
us individually.
(We were touched by her spontaneous response.) Then, many other artistes
under Helen's care arrived.
They were Leung Siu Bing (Noel, formerly known as Vivian) with her boyfriend,
Chan Kar Fai, Kitty Lai, Sharon
Tang, Cheng Geng Gei, Francis Ng, etc etc.. After all hellos & embraces,
Kenix sat down with
her elder sister & us to scan thru our pictures collection of hers.
Kenix's younger sister was busying
shooting this unforgettable night using her videocam. We introduced ourselves
into it too. Remember
Kennis has a picture of Kenix in her childhood posted to the forum? Kenix
has confirmed that that was
her! She could not stop laughing when seeing that photo. She said our collections
are very detailed.
When she had flipped to the news on her co-habitating with Frankie, she
naturally giggled and pointed at
the news and said this: "Hehe... Le Kor Bei Yen Tack Pow Wo!!" (direct
translation meaning "This one
had been exposed by people")!!!! She was so cute and funny and so real
and natural that we had burst into
laughter! Then, she pointed at the pink building published in the magazine
and said : "Ngoh Chu Ye
Kan Loh " ( I live in this unit loh)!!!! So franked!!!!
Ada Choi, Kenix's friend, came
in at this moment. Kenix was so glad as Ada had managed to attend
despite her busying shooting schedule. She introduced us to Ada too. The
scanning of pictures continued!
Kenix had commented that she liked her makeup in TVB weekly #4 (had been
awarded for the best feel cover for 1998), her hairstyle in Crime of Passion
but she has to take a long time keeping it long.
She said her hairdresser for DIF II was good who had blown it to nice curls.
She found it funny seeing
her pictures taken during 1993 Miss HK Pageant Contest. She said luckily
there wasn't photos of her
in swim-suits . She also tallied check her personal particulars too! For
those who keep a collection of her particulars, her weight has to be changed.
Favorite colour is light blue. Favorite actor is now Frankie
Lam Man Lung & favorite cartoon
character is Ding-Dong (Doramae).
Ada had to leave before dinner
started to get ready for her next shooting. Kenix sent her off without
considering the public attention outside the room. Although Ada had stopped
her from sending her off,
she insisted. What a good friend! During dinner, we were seperate from
Kenix who sat with Frankie, her sisters
and the rest of the artistes at one table. Four of us happily shared the
table with Helen and her
staff. Helen and her staff are a bunch of very nice, warm and cheerful
people. They made us feel
comfortable and important. They really treated us like friends! During
the dinner, we chatted and cracked
jokes! They are funny! Though Kenix was sitting at the other table, we
had caught her turning back many
times to check if we were all right. This little gesture really touched
us deep inside.
We sang songs after the dinner.
One of the songs was delicate to 4 of us who have to fly home the next
day. We again caught Kenix reaching out for Frankie's hands when lyrics
were about love. Their hands
were held so tightly. Very loving couple! Kenix is a very warm and obliging
person. She is really very real
in her little gestures. If we didn't observe it attentively and carefully,
we would have missed all these little
warmth gestures. Whenever Dale forced her camera at Kenix, she was always
so attentive and alert by
doing funny and cute pose for her. We thought we were with a great old
friend. Then Frankie brought in big bouquet of flowers & present
for his dear girlfriend. We heard Kenix saying thank you to him. The
cameras were busy all the while. We took individual pictures with the loving
couple. He had been asked
to kiss the birthday girl and he did it on her cheek. A cake for Kenix
& Helen whose birthday also falls in
November too was sent in. We sang the birthday song & the traditional
cantonese style one that had
really brought us up to the highest. We cheered and screamed "Happy Birthday
Kenix!!" Photo, photo, photo again! This moment, everyone had gone high
and crazy and we were snapping photos from any
angles. Kenix is lovely and funny!
Kenix had signed on our photo collection
& chit chatted with us. She mentioned her favorite series is DIF
II & followed by Remembrance (sound
similar to KatieN's choice huh). As for CM's questions, Kenix
doesn't like "ancient drama" (Ku Chong) because it is more troublesome.
When we had asked whether
she would like the new series which is going to air soon on 7 December
(Till When Do Us Part), her eyes
lighted up and we could feel her urge to answer this question. She looked
deep into our eyes and said: "I like this show very much! It is something
very different from my past roles who were always strong, executive roles.
This one is very different. It is about a 'little woman’ who would make
a fuss out of trivial matters.
I have to handle the role properly. If I overdo it, she could be quite
annoying. So I need to handle the
role just right. The top management had seen my performance and they praised
me for doing it well. I
hope the audience would love it too." In between conversation, she asked
whether we like COP and SIMPLY ORDINARY. We told her frankly we didn't
like the plots. She nodded and agreed that they
weren't good either. But we told her performance in COP was good despite
the scripts. She smiled and said :"fans
always said that lah hehehehe!!" Kenix also asked about the drama series
that Michael had filmed in Singapore,
named 'Wisely". She asked us whether the show was good. Lydia commented
that it wouldn't be that
good if it wasn't Michael. Lydia added that the Taiwanese fans would like
her to play the lead actress
of 'Bai Shu" while Michael plays as "Wisely". Kenix smiled. Kenix is really
an artiste who is
opened to criticism. She invites comments on her performance from fans
too. But Dale told her this:" Kenix, don't take the viewership
things too hard, it is not that important. Most importantly is your
improvement in every series." Kenix looked into Dale and she had tear holding
in her eyes! (Kenix gets
emotional easily). She said: "Thank you, thank you...." Kenix touched us
when she gets emotional.
Kenix is now learning Chinese.
Someone has given her 2 tapes and a learning guide. We helped her in
pronouncing 1 to 10 & other simple ones. She invited us for visits
again. We had her autographs on most pictures that we had brought.
In the whole event, we felt as if we were her old friends rather than fans.
We left the restaurant with them around 11.30 pm. When we were outside
the restaurant, Kenix told Lydia: We really can't bear to part with you
guys", Lydia replied: "Me too" !!!! Kenix came to Dale and Pris and said:
Thank you for coming, I would remember you all", (tears holding in her
eyes again). She kissed the four of us! When we were about to part on the
street, Dale shouted out to Frankie who was standing next to Kenix with
her flower, starring at us: Mun Lung, takes good care of Kenix!!!!" Frankie
nodded and smiled. Kenix girlishly teased him By saying: " Heard that!!!"
Helen had come into the picture and said this: "Yes! You better take good
care of her if not the international fans would come after you!!!!" After
several wishes & bye-bye, we parted. Kenix had turned & gave May
and Lydia another wave. While we were walking down the street, reluctant
to part, we had looked back at the party and saw Kenix still turning back
to look at us now and then. We're really very very touched by her. She
didn't act intentionally in front of us but we had always 'Caught’
her doing things that touched us. Lydia told Pris after
the whole event, just now, we should shout at her like what Michael did
in DIF2, the classical scene, "If you remembered me, please turn back!!!"
If we had really done that, Pris foresee the scene of four of us might
just hug Kenix and cried. Lydia nodded with agreement. We talked all the
way back to hotel & till 2 am. Lydia was high again. She needed the
3 of us to pull her down!
