Mark  Pinter (Roger  Smythe)
Mark Pinter joined the cast of "All My Children" in January 2001 as Roger Smythe, Greenlee Smythe's (Rebecca Budig) scheming father. Roger has come to Pine Valley to ensure his financial security and nothing will get in his way, not even the love of his daughter. Will Roger scam the perfect woman to keep him in the lifestyle to which he has become accustomed?
Born in Decorah, Iowa, Pinter and his wife, actress Colleen Zenk Pinter, currently live in Connecticut with their six children. He graduated from Iowa State University with a B.A. in Theatre Arts and an M.F.A. degree at Wayne State University (MI).
Mr. Pinter debuted on daytime television playing Dr.
Tom Crawford on "Love of Life." He went on to the roles
of Mark Evans on "Guiding Light," Brian McColl in "As
The World Turns" and Dan Hollister in ABC's "Loving."
Most recently he played the memorable Grant Harrison
on "Another World" which won him the Soap Opera
Award for Best Daytime Villain in 1996. His primetime
credits include guest-starring roles on "Hunter, "Charlie's Angels," "The Love Boat," "Hart to Hart," "Law and Order," and "Law and Order/Special Victims Unit." His movies
of the week include "Crash!," "Go West," "Young Girl,"
and "Peyton Place '79." He made his motion picture debut
in Norman Jewison's "Other People's Money" working with
Danny DiVito. He starred in the highly controversial independent film, "The Eden Myth" (Hollywood Films),
which went on to garner critical film festival recognition.
An accomplished stage actor, Mr. Pinter has been seen in regional theatre productions of "Equus," "What The Butler Saw," "Hamlet," "Charley's Aunt," "The Show Off," "The Shadow Box," and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf," to
name a few. He recently portrayed King Marchan in the
North Shore Music Theatre's production of "Victor/Victoria,"
as well as a workshop production of a new musical,
"Nellie Bly," for director Scott Schwartz.
He and his wife serve on the Board of Governors of
"Breads and Roses," and AIDS outreach and care facility
in Georgetown, Connecticut. They are members of the Executive Campaign Committee of The Mark Twain
Library, and helped organize the wildly successful Elementary School writing curriculum, "Write From The Beginning," in their school system.
