BIOGRAPHY FROM DAVID'S ZONE

THE MAN BEHIND MULDER:

David Duchovny was born 7 August 1960 in New York. When he started studying in Yale and Princeton, he wasn't really into acting. But then he realized the advantages that were connected with acting: It was the easiest way to get to know women! Until that point of time he was quite a pushy person who was totally dedicated to literature. The advantages of acting finally convinced him to drop his doctor title of literature. But he was not only good at the classic subjects. David has always been a sporting ace.

David mit Prinz CharlesBefore playing Fox Mulder in The X-Files, David starred in movies like Kalifornia, New Year's Eve and Beethoven (ok, that was a tiny little role). Of course his portrayal of "Denise" in the series Twin Peaks (created by David Lynch) must be mentioned here. His latest movie before Fight The Future was Playing God, but unfortunately they didn't show it over here in Germany.

David does not share the beliefs of Fox Mulder. In contrast to the character, David is not convinced of the existence of UFOs and alien abductions. You could call him rather skeptical when it comes to these phenomenons. :-)

David bei einer Stuntszene in "Ascension"David does a lot of stunts for the series (yes it is actually David himself who's dangling from the cable railway in the episode Ascension.). He also impresses everybody on the set with his velocity (even the horsemen in Tunguska had problems to catch up with him). But David doesn't only work in front of the camera, he is also the co-author of the episodes Colony, Anasazi and Avatar and even directed one of the episodes for Season 6.

His great sense of humour is very obvious in episodes like Small Potatoes, Bad Blood and Dreamland, but also his appearances in shows like The Larry Sanders Show or Saturday Night Live prove that David knows how to tell a joke. His partner Gillian Anderson stated in several interviews that much of Mulder's dry and sarcastic humour can't be found in the script but comes directly from David.

David und TéaSince last year he is happily (?) married to the actress Téa Leoni (you can see her on the pic to the left). As his wife is working in L.A., David was one of the main advocates or rather the driving force when the question was brought up: Leave Vancouver and to move to L.A.? So now that The X-Files are shot in sunny Califorina, he can spend more time with Téa which was probably the reason that he stayed for another 2 seasons. David often says in interviews that he's a bit bored because he has been playing the same charcter for over 5 years now. So he's looking for new challenges as an actor.

On 24 April 1999 David's and Tea's daughter was born. Her name is Madelaine West Duchovny. Let's hope that David manages to combine his duties as a dad with his work.
