Adam Arkin knew very early that he wanted to become an actor. He often accompanied his father to the set. He made his film debut in Made for each Other at the age of 14. With 16 he appeared in Waiting for Lefty in the Manhattan Theatre Club.
He had appearances in several tv-series. Best known possible as the recurring character Adam on Nothern Exposure (which brought him Emmy nominations). He also directed several episodes.
His guest-starring roles include Picket Fences, China Beach, LA Law, Law and Order.
In 1991 he made his Broadway debut in I hate Hamlet playing Gary Peter Lefkowitz. This brought him a Tony nomination. He also played in a revial of Guys and Dolls. (We remember: He sang Luck be a Lady in Brain Salad Surgery)
Adam Arkin directed several episodes of Chicago Hope.
