Mandy Patinkin made his Broadway debut as Che in the musical Evita (by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice). This brought him a Tony Award. He was noted for his emotional and lyric voice and his tendency for perfectionism. He then appeared at the Shakespeare Festival in New York and in several on and off-Broadway productions such as Split (1978) which co-starred his future wife Kathryn Grody.
The next success was playing George Seuraut in Sunday in the Park with George (by James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim), a Pulitzer price winning musical (1983-84).

In 1989 Mandy Patinkin began to perform weekly concerts off- Browdway (Mandy Patinkin in concert - Dress causal).
His first solo album had the same title. This was followed by Experiment (1993) and Oscar and Steve (1995). Making this CD was one of Mandy Patinkin's favourite projects. He loves the songs and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and Oscar Hammerstein.
In an interview he said: "Ought to entangle Oscar and Steve to the spirits dissolve into a single flow of language, so that their songs for the theatre unite, assuming each other's very touch, exciting each other's unhumiliating honesty."
On the CD you find songs from Showboat, Carousel, Passion, Carmen Jones, just to name a few.

Mandy Patinkin made his film debut in the Big Fix (1978), followed by Milos Forman's Ragtime (1981). He starred opposite Barbra Streisand in Yentl (1983). Unforgettable is his performance as the Spanish fencer in Princess Bride who seeks revenge for his father's death.(1987). He played the "humanoid Newcomer" detective partner of James Caan in the underrated movie Alien Nation (1988) and Madonna's piano player in Warren Beatty's Dick Tracy.
