Summary    Facts   Quotes   Transcripts

In Short: A 16-year-old boy with no hope for survival without a lung transplant undergoes a controversial live donor procedure. No donor lungs are available and the boy's time is quickly running out, so Dr. Austin reluctantly agrees to allow the boy's father and sister, who has Down's syndrome, to donate portions of their lungs, although she is torn about allowing a handicapped donor to make such a critical decision. Meanwhile, Dr. Hancock's close friend and mentor is horrified to learn that his daughter has the sickle cell anemia gene, which is extremely rare in Caucasians. Meanwhile, Dr. Grad discovers that she's pregnant, just as Dr. Kronk announces he's going to South America for four months, while Dr. Shutt continues to grapple with his loss of motor control by trying a new biofeedback treatment.
