If this is Thursday, this must be an item linking Madonna to yet another handsome young man. The New York Daily News says that rumors of a romance between the Material Mom and former Chicago Hope star Peter Berg are heating up.The evidence? Over the past week, Madonna, 40, and Berg, 36, have been spotted out and about in Manhattan. On Monday night, the two dined together at Cafeteria in Chelsea, but far from being an intimate rendezvous, the stars broke bread with Sony music head Tommy Mottola, Madonna buddy Ingrid Casares, and fashion designer Victor Alfaro.
An eyewitness tells the New York Post that Madonna and Berg, who both appeared in Spike Lee's Girl 6, exited the eatery together, but "they cheek-kissed goodbye and went their separate ways."
But the two seem to be spending quantity time together. The Daily News says Madonna, who's been most recently linked to wannabe British screenwriter Andy Bird, and Berg, who was divorced from Calvin Klein exec Elizabeth Rogers last year, were also together Sunday morning, when they arrived at a Krispy Kreme doughnut shop.
"They looked bedraggled," a spy tells the paper. "Madonna wore drawstring pants and a tank top." Lourdes' fit as a fiddle mama didn't indulge in the fried bits of dough, but simply watched as Berg chowed down. The noncouple also appeared together Tuesday night at a Savage Garden concert, along with Casares.
And while the evidence seems to point to the contrary, Madonna's rep Liz Rosenberg insists to the paper that Peter, who played a surgeon on the CBS medical drama before turning his attention to directing (his debut, Very Bad Things, is due out later this year) is "just a friend. I hate to sound clichéd. They're talking about working on something together. I wish [the boyfriend rumor] were true. It would be great to have a doctor in the house."
