For only 3 episodes, Dangaioh offered a surprising array of villains and enemy mecha design. As is the style of Toshihiro Hirano, the designs basically incorporate elements of technology, biology and myth. The main enemies would be Garimos and Gil-Burg, but there were also quite a few others. A major point to note is that their opposition to the Dangaioh team is mainly on a personal level. This runs in line with the general theme of the Dangaioh members struggling to come to terms with their cloudy pasts. Even though he's not technically a villain, Professor Tarsan is here, as is a screenshot of some guy on a Tokyo street. Why is he in here? Because to me he's one of my favourite bystanders in an anime. The look on his face makes me think he's about to say "F**k off, alien invader, you ain't never seen a human before?"
