Background Information
Shuten is truly a fallen angel, who mended his wings. The Troopers could not have won without his ultimate sacrifice- giving his life to release Lady Kayura from Arago's and Badamon's hands.
However, he wasn't always on the Troopers' side. As a young man, he was influenced by Arago's promises to him, and when he agreed, his "wings" were broken. He fell from humanity, and became the oni-mashou, Arago's right hand in destruction.
Kaos finally was able to awaken Shuten from his ignorance, explaining how Arago was simply only using him to get what he needed-all the yoroi armors. The moment Shuten understood, his wings began to mend.
After the first defeat of Arago, Shuten mysteriously disappeared. He reappears to Ryo and Touma, clad in Kaos' clothing- he had become a monk and followed in his footsteps.
The youngest of the Yondai Mashou, lured into a world of darkness and false promises, this angel with broken wings slowly mended them and redeemed them in the end.

Shuten once lived in Kyoto, Japan's old capital, as Kouma Toshitada, before Arago/Talpa lured him into his evil service. Shuten is the youngest of the mashou/warlords, being 17. He's often referred to as a kid by the other 3, and taunted quite often.
Naaza/Sekhmet seems to have an extreme hatred toward him. Shuten/Anubis is the one called on most often by Arago/Talpa, and that creates much rivalry and problems with he and the rest.
Shuten/Anubis is the first to realize that what he is doing is wrong, and tries to make the better of it by using his armor to fight against his evil master.
