Welcome to the sounds section of the shrine. Here are Shuten's Amercian and Japanese voices. I'll try to give some of the info on their VAs too. I will try my best to translate the Japanese wavs, but I'm only in my second year of Japanese and I'm not that good. ^^; Anyone who can help me and correct my mistakes I would be very grateful to. American Shuten
Most people know Shuten as Anubis from "Ronin Warriors", the American adaptation of "Samurai Troopers". This was the first one that I saw, back in '95. (I just realized that made my tapes almost 6 years old already! T_T) Although I love Shuten's Japanese voice, this is the Shuten I fell in love with first. ^^; I'll give the episode I got this wav from, for your reference.

Japanese Shuten
I recently got to see "Samurai Troopers" totally in raw Japanese-no subtitles! Its' a good thing I know what was going on ahead of time. ^^;
I must say there is quite a difference in voices. Shuten has a deeper, rougher voice. His voice does not get much softer as the monk, but I still think the voice fits him.

[Shuten]: (proceeds to tell Ryo who he is, I'm afraid I can't quite translate it word for word. >_< )
Ko Rai Sen From Episode 2
"Ko Rai Sen" is translated as "Crimson Lightning Flash".
Shuten asks to be the first to fight the Troopers. From Episode 2
Shuten says something like "Arago-sama(Lord Arago), let me be the first to go!" And Rajura goes "hrmph." and then Shuten asks him what his problem is, or something. ^^;
Same as enemy.wav, but in Japanese From Episode 10
I believe this is what is said:
[Touma/Rowen]: You..!! You're a human?
[Shuten]: Yes, I'm human..(can't translate the middle part >_<;) ..prepare to fight again!
Same as evil.wav From Episode 15
I believe this is what's said:
[Shuten]: What the..? !...this is..!!
[Kaos/Ancient One]: That is the heart of your armor. "Loyalty". (and then.. I can't figure out what he says again. x_x;)
Then Shuten says something more, about Arago/Talpa, I think about him never telling Shuten about it.

I think this is the same as the American one, but I can't quite figure out what Kayura and Shuten are talking about. Except I know stars are mentioned here too. ^^;
Shuten meets the Troopers again From Episode 29
I think this is what is said:

This is from the same moment Anubis calls Ully "friend". From Episode 30
I think this is sad. He says "Suman.." which means "I'm very sorry." and I think he's talking about all his wrongdoings to them. It matches the picture in my gallery.
This is so sad! From Episode 33
I found a translation of what Shuten says here.. it's from the ep when Mia/Nasuti, Ully/Jun and Shuten go to get the Jewel of life. Shuten hands Mia/Nasuti the jewel and says:
"only the pure of heart can use it best, and that lets me out." SO SAD! ;_;(Translation from Mangazine by Antartic press, issue 44, May '96)
Part one of Shuten's sacrifice From Episode 38
This is when Shuten sacrifices himself for Kayura. I believe it's nearly the same as the American version. I split it into two parts, so that you could hear the full thing.
The music is more prominent in the Japanese episodes, which I like, because it certainly adds to the mood.

Little Jun/Ully's cry in this wav is very sad..
Okay, well, that's all I have. If anyone wants me to make a wav of a specific part in either version, and I'll do my best to make it for you. These wavs were made by me, and I don't mind anyone using them at all.. but I would appreciate a link back.
