The 3 Psychos' Fushigi Yuugi Page
The story itself is an incantation. The moment the first page is turned, the story becomes reality..
Yuuki Miaka and her best friend Hongo Yui are junior high school students studying for high school entrance exams. While at the National Library of Tokyo
one day, they find an old book in a room marked "Important Documents Reference Room". The book, called the Four Gods of
Sky and Earth, appears to be an ancient Chinese legend. The begin to read it and are engulfed in a red light, then absorbed into the
book. They find themselves in a world like Ancient China, and are rescued from slavers by a mysterious man with the character "oni" (ogre) on his forehead.
Yui returns home, but Miaka is stuck there.
She is in a land known as Konan, and its emperor asks of her one request: "Will you protect our kingdom, Suzaku no Miko?"
And so Miaka begins her quest to become Suzaku no Miko, find her seven warriors/protectors, known as seishi, to call the god Suzaku and make her wishes come true. But her quest won't
be so easy, as a friend becomes an enemy. Unfortunate circumstances have caused Suzaku no Miko and Seiryuu no Miko of Konan's enemy, Kutou to appear
at the same time. The story becomes a dangerous race for two former friends each trying to summon their God first..
Fushigi Yuugi means "Mysterious Play". It was shown in Japan rather recently, with 52 TV episodes, a 3 part OAV and a second 6 part OAV.
