Jusenkyo-"Land of Cursed Springs"
In the Tsinghai region of China, in the Pa-yen-k'a-la, there is a place with over 100 springs with bamboo shoot poking out of almost every one. Many people used to train, fighting at the top of the poles, but not that many people do anymore.
Each spring has a different tragic story of a person or animal that drowned there. If you were to fall into the spring, or get splashed by its water, you would become a version of yourself of that creature/person. Cold water causes this effect, and hot water (and it has to be pretty hot, since the people getting splashed complain about how hot the water is most of the time) reverses the effect, changing you back to your normal self.
There is only one cure that truly works. You would have to fall into a spring of your species and gender. For instance, if you were female and fell into the spring of drowned girl, you would become a female version of yourself when splashed with cold water. Not much of a difference huh?
