Summary

A frightened girl runs down the street, followed by three vampires. She leads them into a dead end street and turns to face them. They are then rudely interrupted by a teenage boy and a pick-up truck armed with stakes.

Cordy, Angel and Wesley are attending a party hosted by a man who hired them, who is also a billionaire. David had been frequenting a demon brothel and someone had taken pictures of him and is now blackmailing him. David has surveillance photos of the blackmailer but can't find him.

A battle is taking place between the vamps and teens, until a teenage boy gets injured and the teens have to retreat. At their hiding spot, the girl, Alonna insists on getting the boy a doctor, but he dies. At the demon brothel, Angel finds out where the blackmailer, Lenny Edwards, is hiding and decides to pay him a visit. Back at the hideout, Gunn's sister tries to talk to him about stopping the hunt but they are interrupted by a guard, who tells Gunn that there is a vampire that is leaping the rooftops, so they decide to go take a look. They see Angel, who has found Lenny, and is telling Lenny very forcefully to bring the pictures the next night.

Cordy and Wesley go to see David, who pays them a gigantic sum of money for not doing anything yet. Cordelia toys with idea of dating him, but nixes the thought, thinking that she couldn't prostitute herself in that manner.

That night, Lenny meets Angel, but he brings along a special demon. Angel kills the demon and grabs the pictures, but is hurt in the brawl. Suddenly he's almost dusted and the truck is trying to run him over. Angel takes cover in a seemingly abandoned warehouse, which is really booby-trapped against vampires. He grabs Alonna when her brother rushes him. Angel pushes her aside, but she sets off a trap and a metal arrow rushes towards her, but Angel puts his hand in the way, saving Alonna's life. They group tells Angel to leave and never come back.

Back at the office, Cordy is patching Angel up and tells him to rest. Instead he decides to go and find the nest of vampires where the kids are hunting, while Cordy and Wesley go check out the kids' hiding place. The vamps, in the meantime, have been getting angry about their neighbourhood being taken over by a group of kids, so they decide to make a plan to do something about it. At the warehouse, Alonna tries to convince her brother, Gunn, that Angel is okay, but he doesn't agree. They are getting ready for battle when gas is dropped into the windows. Gunn tells everyone to get out and stays to fight, but realizes too late that it's a trap. He rushes out to see the vamps taking Alonna away in a van.

Cordelia and Wesley are checking out the hiding place while Angel goes in. Angrily, Gunn tells Angel that he can't help and shuts him in an old meat locker and leaves. The gang drives to the vampires' hideout and Gunn goes in alone to check it out. Inside, he finds Ilona, who is newly vamped. She offers him eternal life, freedom from guilt and shows him her new strength.

Angel is trying to kick his way out of the locker and almost succeeds when Cordy and Wesley open the door for him. Back at the warehouse, Gunn finally brings himself to dust Alonna just as Angel, the gang and the vampires arrive. Angel convinces the vamps to leave and never come back. Everyone agrees and no one dies. That night, Angel goes to see Gunn and Gunn tells him that he doesn't need a lecture, but Angel says that he can't tell Gunn anything he doesn't already know. Angel says he'll be around, and Gunn tells him that he doesn't need any help. Angel says " I might." and walks away.

Quote of the Week

(After Cordy and Wesley let Angel out of the locked room)
Wesley: You should have tried to call us on your cell phone.
Cordelia: You probably forgot you had it.
Angel : These things hardly ever work, besides, it was easier and quicker
too... Look, I'm the boss, I say when we use the cell phones, now people
are gonna die and I have to go.

I hated this episode the first time I watched it, but then the second time around, it kind of grew on me. I liked the millionaire guy, I hope he'll be back. I also like Gunn, he's a pretty cool guy. I didn't have any real big beefs with this episode, it just didn't seem real, I guess. Angel seemed kind of detached, altough the part where he lets the guy fall from the ceiling is great. My favourite part had to be when Cordy is bandaging him while Wesley is checking out the pictures. Look at the expressions on the two guys, they're hilarious. I dunno, I hope we don't see the gang anymore, they just seemed too Initiative-y to me

Nika Summers' Comments

Blah... I'm not really jonesing for another one of this type of episode. Kind of lacking in a lot of different ways, if we had known these characters in the gang, Alonna, Gunn and so on, then it would have meant a great deal more to us when their entire group was destroyed. But since we were dumped into the middle of the storyline we really didn't learn all that much about the group. I'm not saying that I want to learn more because I'm getting a distinct feeling that Gunn will be in some later episodes and I don't really want to see that happen. Gunn's likely got a big long backstory though and maybe if that were explained a little then I would have gotten something more out of this episode.
