| About the film: | Edward G. plays a racket boss, Johnny Rocco, who, along with his companions, is forced to stay inside a motel during a storm. Nevertheless he wants to leave as soon as possible and therefore needs someone who can navigate his boat, that person being Bogart. This is Robinson at his best, playing a villain who’s bad to the bone, he’s the center of the film till the very end. Bogart knows that Rocco will kill him soon enough so he tries to stall things and then grab the opportunity if he gets it. The finale at sea is good, Bogart doesn’t try to be a hero, he just want to survive. Last Bogart-Bacall film. |
