SYNOPSIS: A mother and son from a well-to-do family inadvertently interrupt an armed robbery at a music shop. The thieves murder the mother and leave the son with serious mental as well as physical scars. The patriarchal father struggles to keep the clan together while coming to terms with the tragedy.

A well-made TV drama based on a true story.
Chamberlain is particularly convincing as the aloof patriarch who learns to open up to his children following the tragic death of his wife, incidentally played by Michael Learned - who's perhaps still best known as Olivia in long-running TV show The Waltons.
