THE SECRET OF THE PURPLE REEF (1960)
STARS: Jeff Chandler, Peter Falk, Richard Chamberlain.
DIRECTOR: William Whitney. DURATION: 80 mins.
SYNOPSIS: A man's ship mysteriously sinks, prompting his two sons to return home and investigate the matter.
RC PLAYS: Dean Christopher.

Chamberlain landed this, his first movie, following a small role in the TV series Gunsmoke. The film was a tiny, low-budget venture which thus allowed him to show what he could do in a fairly substantial part which he would never have landed in a major production. A pre-Columbo Peter Falk also stars.
Richard describes his inauspicious film debut as: "Easily the worst movie ever made, or at least the most boring." Critics at the time agreed with him, giving it at best average reviews. It's now largely forgotten in cinema history.
