A THUNDER OF DRUMS (1961)
STARS: Richard Boone, George Hamilton, Luana Patten, Richard Chamberlain, Charles Bronson, Duane Eddy.
DIRECTOR: Joseph M. Newman. DURATION: 97mins.
SYNOPSIS: Tough cavalry-versus-Indians Western. A naive newly-commissioned son of a former general learns about soldiering the hard way while stationed at an under-manned fort.
RC PLAYS: Lieutenant Porter.

Another easily forgotten early outing and a smaller role for Chamberlain despite his efforts in The Secret of the Purple Reef. However, it proved an important career move because this bigger-budget production brought him to the attention of MGM, who were behind both this film and later the same year, Dr. Kildare.
The studio were impressed by his acting and horse-riding abilities, leading them to sign him on a long term contract.
The movie is also noteable for giving guitarist Duane Eddy his only straight film role.
