There is definitely more to be told here.

And so the story continues...

Later that day.

Having just finished his rounds, Buck was headed toward the saloon when he spied a familiar form lounging in a chair outside the town watering hole. The lone figure appeared to be deep in thought, his attention focused on a group of women gathered across the street from the saloon.  Never one to pass up an opportunity to engage in a little mischief, Buck decided to take
advantage of his friend's preoccupied state and sneak up on him.  As he attempted to quietly creep up on his unsuspecting friend, he concentrated on his steps, making sure he didn't give away his position.

While Buck was busy trying not to make any noise, he failed to notice that his quarry had surreptitiously vacated his seat.  Glancing up to confirm that he was closing in on his prey, the ladies man was surprised to find he was alone on the boardwalk.  He hurriedly scanned up and down the street, trying to locate his intended victim.  All he saw were the women on the other side
of the street.  Disappointed that he wasn't going to be able to pull off his prank, Buck turned toward the saloon entrance but was startled when a quiet voice whispered in his ear, "Loose somethin', Buck?"

"Damnit, Vin," the older man cursed.  "You just took three years off my life."  Quickly composing himself, Buck asked, "How'd you do that?"

With a twinkle in his eyes, the tracker shrugged noncommitally and then changed the subject.  "Quiet night?"

Buck chuckled softly at the bounty hunter's obvious evasion of his question.  Knowing Vin was not going to give him an answer, he dropped the subject and addressed the question put to him.   "Yeah, guess the troublemakers decided to call it an early night for a change."  Noticing the tracker was once again eyeing the group of women, Buck added, "Seems the ladies have patched up their differences.  When I was making my rounds, I overheard some of what they was talkin' about.  Trouble is brewin' with that bunch.  Better watch your back, pard."

The tracker raised an eyebrow at the possibility that Buck might have some information about what the fanfic writers had been discussing for the past hour.  "Yeah?  What are they up to this time?"

"From the little I overheard, that group is set on bringing you down pard."

"Ahh, hell," the buckskin clad man grumbled.  "I figured they was up to somethin'; I just didn't count on 'em bein' after my hide again so soon.  Did you get any details?"

Buck felt nothing but sympathy for his friend and tried to soften the blow his news was sure to bring to the tracker.  "Well, I didn't hear too much about the plans.  I mostly heard the new gal tryin' to coax Maggie into going ahead with some plan that has to do with a rope bridge."

A puzzled look crossed the tracker's face.  "New gal?  You mean the quiet one, Diana?"

"Well, I don't know about quiet, but yeah, it was that Diana gal.  All them ladies, Mog, Kim, Penny, and Judy were trying to convince Maggie that since she proved to them that she was still evil, it was time to continue with some plans she's had in the works for a while.  That new gal seemed to be voicing her opinion the loudest.  Cassie was the only one who wasn't too keen on Maggie's plans."

The bounty hunter sighed.  "They give you any clue as to when this is gonna happen?"

Buck cast a worried look at the gathering across the street and then back at the tracker.  "Pard, I don't think now would be soon enough for them gals. They was chompin' at the bit, if ya know what I mean."  Buck's brow became furrowed into a frown, as if he was mulling over a problem.

"You got somethin' else you wanna tell me, Buck?"

Buck sidled over to Vin and put his arm around his shoulder.  "You ain't afraid of heights, are ya, pard?"

Tanner fixed an icy glare on the writers as he felt a twinge of fear deep in his gut.  "Damn," the tracker cursed.  "I think I need a drink."

"I think I'll join ya.  Before this is done, I think we're both gonna be wishin' them gals never came to town."

"Whatta ya mean gonna?  I already regret ever knowin' 'em."  Vin winced as if in pain.  "I'd feel safer facing the odds we had at that Seminole village than I do facing even one of them.  Let's go get that drink and hope that maybe they'll come to their senses."

Buck snickered.  "Not likely, but a drink might help ease the pain."

Okay Maggie, let's not keep the boys waiting.    Now that I've got them all prepared, let's have some more of THE GREAT DIVIDE.
