"Okay, Tanner, where is she?" Maggie stood outside the wagon and glared
menacingly at the tracker.

"Now, calm down Ms. Maggie. She's inside sleeping off her hangover." Vin
had never seen the woman so angry before. *Reminds me of female version
of Chris.* The bounty hunter shivered at the thought.

"You guys cease to amaze me. How could you just sit there and let her
get drunk. Didn't you see she was in pain and needed a friend. No! Men,
your all alike. Don't talk about feelings. Don't show your emotions. Its
not macho. People will think your a wuse. (sp?)" The dark haired girl
was poking her finger in Tanner's chest as she finished her tirade.

"Hey, I figured it wasn't none of my business.."

Maggie interrupted the man before he could finish what she knew he was
gonna say. "Yeah, and thats another thing. Theres times to let people
alone with their 'own' business and then theres times like now, when you
need to stick your nose into it." Maggs shoved the tracker aside not
waiting for a reply, as she went to check on Kelly for herself.

"Hey Kelly. You okay?" The brunette glanced at the girl and was happy
when she saw her eyes flutter open.

"OW!" Kelly immediately grabbed her head and winced in pain. "What train
hit me?"

"The whisky train." Maggie waited patiently for the woman to recover her
senses. "I still can't believe they didn't even bother to watch out for
you. Their suppose to be protectors' for pete's sake. I wonder how
they'd feel if they got drunk and started babbling their feelings..."
Maggs stopped suddenly as an evil thought sturck her.

Kelly slowly reopened her eyes to slits when her friend's tantrum had
halted. She saw the twinkly and the cock-eyed grin and instantly knew
Vin was gonna need comforting. Groaning loudly, Kelly slumped back
against the pallet and waited for the inevitable.

"Come on, Kel. Your not gonna want to miss this." The brunette literally
dragged her friend from the wagon and back toward the saloon.

"Chris, I really wish you hadn't of provoked Maggie like that. It could
have easily backfired on us." Vin sipped his drink watching the gleam
enter his best friend's eyes.

"I couldn't help it. She had it coming." Larabee grinned widely, as he
recalled the look on Maggs' face.

Tanner started to point out a very important fact, when the batwing
doors slammed against the walls of the tavern, causing poor Kelly to
grimace and turn a nice shade of green.

"Okay, boys. I've got a little game for ya. Anybody wanna play." Maggie
stepped over to the table occupied by Vin and Chris, giving them the
most challenging look.

"If it means getting a chance to wipe that smug look off your face, I'm
game." Larabee stood, glaring once again at the brunette.

"Tanner?" Maggs never let her glare waver from the gunslinger as she
inquired of the tracker's reply.

"Sure, why not." The bounty hunter didn't sound enthused but knew Chris
was gonna need all the help he could get.

"Inez, would you be so kind as to bring two bottles of tequila over here
with lime, salt, and three shot glasses." The dark haired smiled sweetly
as she sat down at the table.

The other five protectors' had been watching with puzzlement at to what
was about to transpire, but at the mention of tequila, instantly
gathered around the table to see first hand the action.

Kelly had been trying to keep her stomach from spewing all over the
people near her, so hadn't grasp the true intent of the game until the
glasses clinked on the table.

"I call this game, do or die." Maggie set a shot cup in front of each
one of them and then placed the lime and salt in the middle. "The object
gentlemen, is to drink as much as the other. Hence, do or die. If you
can't withstand your opponent's tolerance, you simply bow out gracefully
or pass out dead drunk, which ever comes first."

Chris reached over and stopped the woman from pouring the first shots.
"I got one question. What does the winner get?" Larabee was gonna love
drinking this gal under the table, and wanted a reward when he was done.

"Their choice." Maggs wasn't stupid, she knew exactly what the
gunslinger was thinking.

"Very well, let the game begin."

Kelly watched as much as her sick headache and queazy stomache would
allow. She wasn't at all surprised that Chris and Maggie were matching
each other drink for drink. She was amazed however, when Vin gracefully
bowed out of the contest and ran out the back of the tavern.

"Anyone care to wager who will go down first?" Ezra never passed up a
chance on winning sure money, or what he believed was sure money.

Kelly saw the other of the seven exchange bets, noticing Josiah was the
only one to bet on Maggie. As she herself continued to watch the test of
wills, a thought struck her. Larabee was beginning to weaken and weave,
but Maggs just smiled and continued to suck her lime and lick her salt,
then down her drink. Something was definitely wrong here.

The game finally ended two hours later. The six protectors' had fell
asleep various places around the table and Kelly had snuck a nap on top
of the bar. As she roused herself awake, she found a very happy Maggie
grinning up at her.

"Who won?" Kel jumped lightly to the ground and glanced at the black
clad form passed out on the floor at Maggs' feet. "Never mind. But, why
aren't you at least weaving a little?" The girl took a closer look at
her friend and realized she didn't even look like she had a buzz, even
after downing three bottles of tequila.

"You know, thats the funniest thing. I haven't felt better in my life."
Maggie stood up stretching, as she too gazed at the pitiful form of
Chris passed out. "But I guess it is better to drink water than
alcohol." The dark haired girl couldn't contain the grin as the reality
of what she had done hit Kelly.

"You tricked him." She couldn't believe. Actually, yes she could, it was
Maggie afterall.

"Yep, and boy what a hangover he'll have in the morning. He'll be
begging me to put a bullet in him." The evil smiled gleefully as she
turned to leave. "Come on, Kelly. I think its time you get some rest,
besides I don't think we want to be around when the drunk wakes up mad."

The two women laughed heartily as they left the saloon and walked down
the street whistling 'Oh When the Saints, Go Marching In.'
