Josiah was on his way to the saloon, when he saw Nathah sitting on the bottom step of his clinic
with his head hanging low. He made his way over to where the healer was morosely kicking the
dirt at his feet.

"Nathan, what's wrong?"  Josiah asked kindly as he eased himself down beside his friend.

Nathan looked up sadly at the preacher and asked with a quiver in his voice.  "Josiah, why do
they hate me?"

Josiah put a gentle hand on Nathan's shoulder and asked him quietly,  "What do you mean son?"

Nathan's warm brown eyes looked into the preacher's kind blue eyes.  "They just ignore me
Josiah," he said dejectedly.

"No son, they don't ignore you," the big man told him softly.  "They just can't show you how
much they care.  It'd be too hard."

"But Josiah,"  Nathan began his voice quivering.  Nobody even knows what mine are called.  I
mean Vin's got his vixens, and Chris has his ladies.  Buck's got his babes, and Ezra has the dears.
Even JD. I mean JD, he's just a kid, and he's the darlin's. Heck, I bet if you took a poll half of
them wouldn't even know what to call mine."

"Hhhmm--"  Josiah stroked his chin thoughtfully.  "Yes, I know exactly how you feel."

"And that ain't all Josiah,"  the black man sighed.  "Half of them hardly ever even mention me."

"Well son, there's a good reason for that."   The preacher told Nathan firmly.

"There is?"  Nathan's question was hopeful, as his dreamy brown eyes met the preacher's equally
dreamy blue eyes.

"Certainly son.  Why don't you know they'd never write one of their fics without you?"  Josiah
asked the healer, a little surprised that his partner hadn't thought of it on his own.

"Why not?  Jackson asked him curiously.

"Well son, all you have to do is read the last few fics that have come in. Let's see,  Carolyn has
shot JD and Buck, and broke Vin's rib.  Catseye beat up Mary, and made her fall out of a
window.   Tracy had a horse step on Vin.  You know what Maggie and Cassie did.  And now that
new girl, Tina.  She shot Vin and JD.  And that's just the ones that I've read.  God only knows
what's going on in their heads."

"But what does all that have to do with me?"  Nathan interrupted the preacher.

"Son."  Josiah sighed.  "Don't they ALWAYS bring the boys to you?   Think about it.  In any fic
you've ever read, have they ever takenthe hurt guy to anyone else?  No!  They love you Nathan,
they just need to keep you healthy."

A huge smile split the healer's face.  "Yeah that's right!  They always do bring me in don't they?  I
guess I'm just too important to them to hurt."

"I was just about to have a drink in the saloon, join me son?"   Josiah smiled at the healer.

"Sure Josiah."  Nathan jumped up off the steps and the two of them headed towards the saloon.

THAT'S IT GUYS.  I JUST FELT KINDA BAD ABOUT IGNORING JOSIAH AND NATHAN
SO MUCH.
