Yuuki Miaka and her best friend, Hongo Yui enter a library with the simple purpose of returning a book. Miaka then sees a magical red phoenix, and follows it to a restricted room, where a book falls off the shelf, catching her attention. Yui catches up, and reads the first page of the book out loud to Miaka.
"This is the story of a girl who gathered the Seven Seishi of Suzaku, and acquired
the power to make every wish come true. The story itself is an incantation. Whoever
finishes the book shall receive this power. As soon as the page is turned, the story
will become the truth and begin..."
When the page was turned, both girls were transported to the world inside the book. Miaka soon finds herself lost, alone, and in love with one of the characters! Yui, who made it back to the library, reads the book, with Miaka as the main character!
