Aideen is a young fairy from the mystical land of Tir Na Nog. When the Mystic Knights first came to the Land of Youth in search of the remainder of the scroll, Aideen instantly took interest in them. Her curiosity regarding humanity, as well as her thirst for adventure, led her to cast her loyalties with humans, and leave Tir Na Nog to join the Mystic Knights in their duty to protect Kells.
Although small in stature, Aideen has proven infinitely useful to the Mystic Knights. As a fairy, she is gifted in small magical tricks such as shape-shifting and the conjuring of illusions, which make her an adept spy to discover Maeve's most recent evil plan. Also, her size and speed allow her to carry messages throughout Kells quickly, so the Knights can be alerted the instant trouble ensues. Finally, Aideen's knowledge of the fairy realm, as well as magic and legend in general, make her a very insightful source regarding evil spells and hexes, and how to reverse them. While many times the Mystic Knights seem to under-appreciate Aideen's contributions, on the whole they respect and value her as an intelligent, crafty, and loyal sprite.
While curiosity is one major reason why Aideen has chosen to remain with humans, the most significant reason is her attraction to Rohan. Even before it was discovered that Rohan was the legendary Draganta, Aideen saw through his humble upbringing to see his noble and pure heart. Since their meeting Aideen has been greatly devoted to Rohan, always on hand in case of an emergency, and often trying her best to win his attentions. Unfortunately, her feelings for Rohan have on occasion made her an easy target for Queen Maeve's treachery, but Aideen quickly learns from her mistakes. While she does care deeply for Rohan, her greatest desire is to be useful to the Mystic Knights, and to their cause of protecting Kells from Maeve, and Tir Na Nog from Mider.
