"Then quest you will, with all my support and blessing.
Let this victory be just the beginning."

King Conchobar is the beloved monarch of Kells. He is appreciated throughout the land for his wisdom, courage, and the true and honest devotion with which he serves his kingdom. He rules with a fair hand, and his goal is for the people of Kells to live in peace and prosperity. He fights the war against Temra only because Maeve refuses to back down, and for his part his determination to win is notable. No matter the cost, he will not let Kells fall under the hands of a wicked dictator.

Under no circumstances can Conchobar be considered an armchair ruler, because he is very handy with a sword as well. Whenever the palace walls are compromised, the king is at the very forefront of the battle, risking his life to ensure the independence of Kells. Also, on numerous occasions he is more than willing to lead his troops into battle outside the palace, and often goes on dangerous journeys as a diplomat in his tireless efforts to herald peace back to the island. Conchobar has the heart of a warrior, and the strength of his hand, combined with the strength of his heart, serve as an example for his armies, and an inspiration for all of Kells.

Despite the fact that his realm is threatened by a costly ongoing war, Conchobar does his best to assure that his daughter, Princess Deirdre, is raised properly. Ever since the death of his wife, the king made sure that Deirdre was being groomed properly for rulership. This included extensive training in the arts of combat, despite the fact that Deirdre is a woman. Conchobar makes an effort to teach by example, and lets his own actions bear witness to how a wise ruler should act. He also involves the princess in all levels of decision-making, to hone her skills at diplomacy, strategy, and domestic affairs. The king takes a great deal of pride in his beloved daughter, referring to her as "my jewel."
