Seuiyu: Tomokazu Seki (who also played Chichiri in Fushigi Yuuigi, one of my fave animes too, no da!)

Siblings: One older brother named Folken who disappeared while he was on a dragon quest when Van was about ten years old.

Birthday: Moon of White (April 12)

Status: King of Farnelia; He is also a Ryugin-bito- half human and half Atlantean god, like his mother. His father, meanwhile, is human.

Guymelef: Espearl's Escaflowne

Hobbies: Sword-fighting. Apart from that he really has nothing much to do but live up to the standards of being the king of Fanelia.

Skills: Trained well with the sword by Balgus; Van is able to sprout out wings if he needs to because of his Ryugin blood (gosh, I find that fact soo sexy!! *grin) He is the only one who can operate the Espearl's guymelef called Escaflowne.

Best Friend: Merle, a cat girl, who has been his constant playmate as a child after they adopted her a long time ago when she lost her whole family.

Love interests: Hitomi---at first the two didn't really get along together but after the numerous times that Hitomi saved his life and the growing sort of connection between the two of them, his dislike for her suddenly turned into love and...well the rest is history!!

Best Match: Well, we all know and agree (well most of us anyway) that it's Hitomi.

His role in the whole series: Van was in the middle of a dragon quest to fulfill his missing brother's mission to become king when a mysterious bright beam of light suddenly transports him and the dragon to earth, making him collide with Hitomi who was in turn trying to beat her thirteen -second track record in order to get a kiss from Amano-sempai. He kills the dragon with much difficulty, with Hitomi's help of course and both get transported back to Gaea. They reach Fanelia in time to witness its burning brought by the Zaibach forces. And so a war wages on throughout Gaea, with Hitomi, Van and a whole other group of friends they meet along the way stuck in the middle of it. As time passes by, Van discovers the truth about his Ryugin-blood, Escaflowne, his brother's disappearance and the power of Atlantis. In the end, it is his and Hitomi's love for each other that paves the way for a new future for Gaea...

Name: Allen Schezar

Seuiyu: Shin-ichiro Miki

Age: 21 yrs. old; Eldest son in the Schezar family

Siblings: One younger sister named Serena who was abducted when he was thirteen.

Birthplace: Asturia, Gaea

Birthday: Moon of Blue (November 3)

Status: Tenkku Knight of the Royal Asturian Army, also known to be the best sword fighter around Gaea; he was one of Balgus' students. And most of all, he's famous for being a playboy. (of course that's what THEY think...I have a different opinion *grin)

Guymelef: Schezarade

Hobbies: Sword-fighting and charming the girls...

Skills: Still sword fighting and charming the girls!!

Companions: Gadeth, his right-hand man and the crew of the Crusader.

Love interests: His first love was Maleena, the oldest daughter of the king of Asturia, but it was a forbidden love and Maleena, in the end married the Duke of Freid.

Millerna, the youngest sister of Maleena was also one other girl he showed favor for but somehow he didn't really care for her; one reason why he lead her on so constantly was because she looked more and more like Maleena everyday.

And of course we have Hitomi. But in the end he realized he only loved her as a sister because she reminded him of his younger sister Serena.

Best match: In my opinion, I think he would go well with Eries, the older sister of Millerna and middle child in the Asturian Royal Family. Whoever said priestesses in that planet couldn't marry?! hehehe

His role in the whole series: Allen seems to have had a troubled past. His father left his family for a dream and his sister was abducted from him at an early age. That was what drove him to become a reckless sword fighter, but with Balgus' help he was able to control his emotions and be the best there was. He enlisted himself as a Tenkku knight and there in the Royal army was where he met Maleena, and later caught the eye of Millerna. He met Hitomi after saving her life and joined Van in his quest to win against the Zaibach troops. As pieces started falling into place, Allen finally found out the reason behind his father's betrayal and discovered the whereabouts of his sister, however shocking the truth may have been...

Name: Dilandau Albatou

Seuiyu: Minami Takayama

Age: 15 yrs. old--- his family life is quite a mystery but his alter ego is supposedly only a middle child cared for by Jajuka

Siblings: Well, erm, I'd spoil it if I told you...*smile

Birthplace: How Dilandau came to be? hmmm...Zaibach Empire, Gaea

Birthday: Moon of Red (August 8)

Status: Leader of the Dragon Slayers and probably third in line for the throne...if Dornkirk decides to give it up and Folken dies of course...

Guymelef: Alseides then after the Oreades

Hobbies: To burn things to do the ground...what else can you expect from a pyromaniac like him?!

Skills: Well, mostly it's to burn, burn, burn...and in my opinion, to look so gorgeous even if he's sitting in his throne doing nothing!

Best Friend: Jajuka, this half dog-man who's taken care of him and looked out for him ever since he was very young.

Love interests: Erm...none! So he's up for the grabs girls!

Best Match: Serena! hehehehe, if she could be any other person that is!

His role in the whole series: Being the chief leader of the Dragon Slayers, Dilandau is responsible for burning most of the countrysides around the Zaibach Empire. Their goal is to have complete world domination and to get the Absolute Good Fortune Utopia machine to work. His own personal goal though is to be able to kill Van Fanel, after Van more or less scratched his beautiful face! He would have been successful in eliminating the White Dragon if it wasn't for Hitomi's powers. Dilandau's past is quite hazy and remains more or less a mystery till the end.

Name: Folken Fanel

Seuiyu: Johji Nakata

Age: 25 yrs. old; eldest son of the Fanelian Royal Family

Siblings: One younger brother named Van.

Birthplace: Fanelia, Gaea

Status: Head of the Zaibach troops---Dilandau answers to him. Also, Dornkirk's right hand man

Hobbies: He has a kind of gray personality. In the series, he doesn't do much in his spare time.

Skills: He's a good sword-fighter and strategist; like Van, he can also sprout out wings, only the color of his is quite tarnished.

Best Friend: When both were young, Folken showed a certain kind of affection for Van. In their present state, Folken shows less and less of that affection towards his brother because of the circumstances.

Love Interests: Naria and Eriya, twin cat-girls.

Best Match: Merle?! Or any one of his cat-girls....but I'd definitely suggest Merle!

His role in the whole series: After disappearing from a dragon hunt a long time ago, Folken joined the Zaibach troops in their quest to change fate. Years have passed since his fateful departure from Fanelia but since the re-awakening of the Escaflowne, the White Dragon that could totally alter the Zaibach's plans, Folken finds himself fighting against his own brother Van. He believed that if he was able to control fate he could stop all the wars going on and control people's feelings, not at all noticing the superficiality of the dream and the fact that it was the Zaibach Empire's powers that were causing all the chaos. In the end though, he realizes his mistakes and sets off to do the right thing, after his beloved pets Naria and Eriya die in the war.

Name: Dornkirk

Seuiyu: Masato Yamanouchi

Age: 200 yrs. old

Birthplace: Earth: The Mystic Moon

Status: Emperor of the Zaibach Forces

Hobbies: Sitting in his chair and watching fates change before him...he has been doing so for about a hundred years already! Amazing, ne? hehehehe

Skills: He's an intelligent man and can make a lot of inventions.

Best Friend: Does he have any?

Love Interests: It it believed that he used to have a lady love, but she died...obviously, he's like, two hundred already!! hehehe *just kidding

Best Match: To tell you the truth I wouldn't even try to match him up with anybody!! Best match...um maybe his deceased wife!

His role in the whole series: He plays the controversial emperor who is set in controlling all of Gaea's fate. Because of a shocking incident that happened to him a long time ago, Dornkirk realizes that the only way to make incidents like the one he had experienced stop was to control it. Venturing out to Gaea, he forms an empire and, hearing about the powers of the Atlantean gods, decides to build the Ultimate Good Fortune Utopia, the machine that can enable him to change fate. There was only one glitch in his whole plan: the mysterious power of the White Dragon and the even more extreme and more powerful connection between the king of Fanelia and the girl from the Visionary Moon that was constantly altering the fate of Gaea.

Name: Amano Susumu

Birthplace: Japan, Earth: The Mystic Moon

Status: High School student and best track athlete on the team.

Hobbies: Running for track and winning medals.

Skills: Can beat the 11 second track barrier.

Best Friend: Hitomi Kanzaki and Yukari Uchida

Love Interest: First Hitomi but after she disappeared he fell in love with Yukari.

Best Match: Who else but Yukari...*double sigh

His role in the whole series: He's the no. 1 track athlete in Hitomi's high school and even her long-time crush. His father suddenly gets a job in Europe and Amano has to go there with him, meaning he'd have to leave Japan to study abroad. With much of Yukari's coaxing, Hitomi finally agrees to tell Amano how she really feels. " If I beat the 13 second barrier," she tells him," Can you give me my first kiss please?" Amano easily agrees and as Hitomi prepares herself for the run, Yukari appears to cheer her on. Within the eighth second of her track time running, a mysterious boy suddenly appears in front of her, bringing along with him a dragon. Amano tries to save both the girls but fails to rescue Hitomi as she gets sucked into a pillar of light along with the boy. After Hitomi's disappearance, Amano decides to stay in Japan after all and he and Yukari set out to find what has become of their friend.

Age: 21 yrs. old; the only son of the wealthy Fassa family.

Birthplace: Asturia, Gaea

Birthday: Moon of Yellow ( May 25)

Status: son of a wealthy trader; an infamous historian

Hobbies: Researching on the lost treasures and secrets of Atlantis---or anything with historical value.

Skills: He can interpret ancient scriptures of Atlantis and is very knowledgeable on the history of Gaea.

Best Friend: He doesn't really have one since he is always traveling.

Love Interest: Millerna. He used to like her just because she was the princess of Asturia but in time he really grew to love and respect his childhood fiancee, up to the point where he laid down the crown in order to make himself a better man first, before he could be her king.

Best Match: I'd have to say Millerna.

His role in the series: He gets introduced almost in the middle of the whole series as Millerna comes to him for help in saving Van's life. Interested in uncovering the mystery of Atlantis he joins the gang as they journey to the Mystic Valley to uncover the answers to their pasts. When Asturia finally allows Allen, Millerna and the rest to come back to its borders, Dryden comes along with them and the marriage between the wealthy family of Fassa and the Royal Asturian Family proceeds. In the end though, Dryden gives up his crown for Millerna in order to be the man he thinks she deserves.
