______Van drags Hitomi out of the vessel and quickly gets out of the water. With the help of Allen, the king, the cat-girl and the psychic easily escape the clutches of the Zaibach troops and flee to a safer place. Hitomi waves and whispers a soft goodbye to Allen…

______After landing on a deserted forest, Hitomi awakens for the second time that night as the slash of the sword reaches her ears. She sees Van practicing and sits down beside him to keep him company. She thanks him shyly for saving her and proceeds to tell him about her family.

______He tries to comfort her and Hitomi’s eyes open to the truth, revealing another side of Van she never expected existed. He also promises her that he’d get her back home, knowing how much she missed her family and everything and he assured her in his own defiant and awkward way that he’d protect her against all costs…

______They fall asleep beside each other and Van unconsciously puts an arm around her as she cuddles up closer to him, both of them drifting deeply off to slumber…

______Hitomi’s heart goes out to Van as they start beating him up. Silently, she curses herself for getting them into trouble in the first place. A cobra suddenly slithers up her body and her captor uses her to get some information out of Van. Hitomi is surprised to find worry and desperation in his eyes as he pleads to them not to hurt her…

______Through Merle’s distraction Van is able to free himself and Hitomi and tries once more to retrieve his guymelef. Hitomi tries running away but before she could get any further, the ground suddenly opens up in front of her and before she knows it, she’s tumbling down into the earth’s center.

______Like a vision, an angel appears out of the sky, the same one Hitomi saw many times in her dreams, and she reaches out for his hand…the hand that she knew would save her and bring her to safety…

______Hitomi opens her eyes to a sound beside her and struggles to read the message that Amano had sent her. A flood of memories come rushing back to her and she feels the tears come once more. A feather brushes past her and she looks up in confusion to see the face of the angel that has haunted her dreams so many times before. " Van," she whispers in amazement…

______Van finally reveals to Hitomi the story of his life and Hitomi begins to understand why exactly Van seemed so rough and closed about life. Smiling, she touches the feather that so many people thought was cursed and says softly, as she raises her eyes to met his, " I don’t care what other people say but I think your wings are beautiful…"

______And I think you’re beautiful, Van thought to himself. But instead, he just smiled at her and turned back to the wheel. Maybe he’d tell her someday. But for now, he was content with having to get to know each other first. After all, they had a long way to go and there was plenty enough time for those unsaid words later.

______And the silhouette of a dragon flew across the tips of the trees and into the welcoming darkness below…
