Here's What You Missed

The final shot of Jake in The Rescuers Down Under is a reverse image.

Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather are the good guys, right? Without their help, there would be no happy ending to Sleeping Beauty. Maybe so, but they certainly manage to screw up a lot. After 16 years of carefully concealing themselves from Maleficent, they allow their silly feud about colors to reveal their hiding place to the raven. Then, a few minutes before the sunset deadline, they inexplicably leave poor Aurora alone and vulnerable. Some guardians! After all these blunders, the princess falls victim to the dreaded sleep spell. So, what do the three fairies do? They waste precious time putting the entire castle to sleep when they should be racing back to their cottage to find Aurora's sweetheart so he can wake her. True, they think he's just a peasant, but what does that matter? Love's first kiss is all that's needed to break the spell. Merryweather should know this; after all, it was her idea. By the time Flora gets the idea to go look for the boy in question, Maleficent has already captured Prince Phillip. With friends like this trio, who needs a villain?

Observe Jasmine's reflection as she and Aladdin fly over the water on their carpet ride. According to the flower in her hair, the reflection is reversed.

Why does Baloo make reference to a basket of fruit in his conversation with Bagheera? It's a little strange for animals who have little or no contact with men to refer to a man-made object in this way.

Cinderella's Fairy Godmother turns four mice into horses. When they change back at the stroke of midnight, they are not quite the same four mice they were when they started.

In The Rescuers Down Under, McLeech has a feather in his hat a few seconds before he is shown placing it there.

Keep an eye on both Prince John and the Sheriff of Nottingham. They manage to change from four fingers to five several times.

During the scene where Pinocchio's finger is on fire, Geppetto manages to lose his nightcap and find it again several times.

Exactly how does Amos Slade know that the fox he's chasing all over the game preserve is Tod? This guy is really obsessed!

Here's a strange one: in Fantasia, as the centaurs and centaurettes stroll along, one of the bushes in the background detaches from the ground and moves along with the horsey couple that passes by. Maybe their tails got snagged...?

In Fantasia, why does Bacchus, the god of wine, get so excited about drinking grape juice that was squeezed so recently? It can't possibly be fermented yet.

When the angry settlers surround Governor Ratcliff near the end of Pocahontas, their shadows close in on him from all directions. This would only be possible if there were numerous light sources, one behind each settler.

There is a sailor in The Little Mermaid whose shirt spontaneously changes color.

While the footstool carries off one of Le Fou's shoes, Le Fou is briefly seen wearing two shoes.

In the climax of Hot Lead and Cold Feet, Wild Billy forces his twin brother Eli to change clothes with him and so confuse the crooked Mayor Ragsdale. A short time after Billy rides into town, Eli comes along in his underwear. Why didn't he simply put on Billy's clothes? There is no reason for him to appear undressed, except that underwear is funny.

Notice the raccoons and opossum among Snow White's forest friends. Just what are they doing in an obviously European setting?

Why doesn't Cruella De Vil sue Roger Radcliff for libel when he publishes that song calling her, among other things, an "inhuman beast" and a"spider waiting for the kill"?

Keep a close eye on Ariel's fork all through The Little Mermaid. It sometimes has three prongs, sometimes four.

What hunting season is it in Bambi? The off-screen hunters appear to shoot at anything that moves. Somebody call the game warden!

At the mad tea party, the Mad Hatter, referring to the White Rabbit's demolished watch, says, "It was?", to which the White Rabbit replies, "It was an unbirthday present, too." Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't these two lines of dialogue make more sense in reverse order? I guess everything is mixed up in Wonderland.
