COMING ATTRACTIONS

Dinosaur

SYNOPSIS

Based in the Cretaceous period, the film follows the life of a dinosaur from egg to adulthood after he losses his family. He is raised by a family of lemur monkeys and when the big armageddon asteriod hits the earth, the now grown dinosaur re-unites with his kin and saves them using knowledge he gained from the monkeys.

This title is include for fans of Dinosaur films.  It IS NOT a stop-motion film.  The dinosaur effects are all CGI.  Ray Harryhausen's films may have taken a year in production because of the slow stop-motion process but then they didn't cost $200 million and require a team of hundreds of CGI animators.

Sinbad: Beyond the Veil of Mists

SYNOPSIS

The film exists in a mythical kingdom by the ocean where we meet a princess named Serena (voiced by Jennifer Hale) and Baraka (Leonard Nemoy). Baraka is dying of malnutrition after a major shipwreck, so the Princess takes him back to her palace where he meets her father the kinf, Akron. Just when everyone thinks Baraka is a poor starving fellow, he turns out to be an evil wizard who had been exiled from an undersea kingdom. Baraka uses his magical powers to switch places with King Akron and throwns him in the palace dungeon. The Princess uncovers the truth and decides to hire Sinbad the sailor (voiced by Brendan Fraser) to travel to the end of the world to find the ingredients of potion to save her father."

This film is the first full-length feature to utilize 3D animation as seen in virtual reality computer games.  I personally find the animation in these games to be somewhat disappointing and prefer the older cartoon-style animation in games.  While it isn't technically stop-motion animation, more facets relating to stop-motion are utilized than current CGI effects being used in feature films.

PRODUCTION

Gordon Hunt, Alan Jacobs, Evan Ricks (Directors); Sri Ram Rajan (Producer); Jeff Wolverton (Screenwriter); The House of Moves (Motion Capture Production); Pentafour Software & Exports Ltd. (Studio Production).
