Character
Dagwood
Prototype for a line of genetically engineered
combat solidiers rendered useless upon the elmination of wars.
Dedicated member of seaQuest's maintenance crew, although
somewhat lacking in intelligence.
Biography:
Peter DeLuise makes the transition from having played a big-city cop for five seasons on the TV drama series "21 Jump Street" to portraying what he refers to as "a gentle giant" on "seaQuest 2032." "Dagwood isn't stupid, although some might mistake him as that. He's just emotionally adolescent," explains DeLuise of his alter ego - a failed prototype for a line of genetically engineered combat soldiers. "Exploring Dagwood's character is uncharted territory because no one is familiar with this type of life form. What an incredible acting challenge!"
DeLuise was born on November 6, 1966 in New York City and raised in Los Angeles. He made his acting debut at age 1, appearing as a baby in a skit on "The Dom DeLuise Show," starring his father, actor/comedian Dom DeLuise. Having caught the acting bug early, DeLuise as a youth worked hard to convince his parents to let him work in commercials or projects done by his father. His younger brother is Michael DeLuise, Seaman Piccolo on seaQuest DSV. He was married to Gina Nemo from 1988-1992 and is now divorced.
Upon graduation from Palisades High School, where he was in the drama club and was captain of the football team, he worked at odd jobs, including making pizzas and delivering flowers, while auditioning for acting jobs. He earned guest spots on TV series including "The Facts of Life," "Different Strokes," "Booker," "Hat Squad" and "The Round Table." Additionally, he starred on the TV specials "Midnight Hour" and "Attack of the 5' 2" Women."
Among his movie credits are the futuristic film "Solar Babies," directed by Mel Brooks, "Rescue Me," "Hot Stuff" and "Free Ride," in which he made his motion picture debut.
