Yahoo online has posted a tip I forgot to tell those who are now getting
carded in US cinemas. Buy the ticket to a PG film than walk into the film
of your choice. Make sure the cinema is in the samedirection as the usher
points you. Or just wait till the usher has gona an than sneak in. I forgot
all about that one. Ushers don't lead you to the door way in multiplexes,
take advantage of that fact. Until they put on staff to police each individual
cinema adn I don't think that will ever happen.
Jack Valenti chief of the MPAA has gone from saint to sinner. No longer
protecting the film industry but turning on it asking the violence in trailers
to be turned down. Okay so does this mean every trailer will need to be
like TBWP trailer.. Valenti told WSJ that the rating system is designed
for parents, and Hollywood cannot be unresponsive to their concerns. Okayso
this could mean that I cut a trailer for "The Matrix" and just
show Neo jumping from building to building.. The parents will think "Hey,
fantasy film, lets get the kids along to that one".. If I were to put
the guns and violencesa and explicits in a trailer than I would in turn
be warning the parents not to take the kids to that film.. I see no logic
in your conclusion Valenti?? (IMDB)

had an extremely positive response according to a source at DH. Of the four

RIP "Bones". DeForest Kelley aged
79. he played the doctro in the original Star Trek series and well now I
guess he gets to go boldly where the series has never gone before. His character
inspired thousands to become doctors according to CSO.

The V-CHIP will be in all TV's bigger than 13-inches from JULY 1 deadline
in the USA. TV's without the V-CHIP will be more expensive than those with
it.. But at what cost you may ask.. "OUR FREEDOM". I encourage
people to stick with there current TV or panic buy a new one without the
V-CHIP NOW!!! It's your right to watch whatever you want. (EO)
After lighting up a cig on a concorde. Miramax boss Harvey Weinstein
was fined that'll teach him for turning Dimension into a non-genre based
production company. (EO)
In the Washington USA you will now need Identification prooving your
age to be allowed in to a R rated film. Well this has been happening in
Australia for a long time.. You are still allowed to go in with a parent
or guardian.. But if you can't find anyone older than you to take you that
is above the age.. Well here are two words that might come in handy "Fire
Exit".. In case of emergency.. I won't say what I mean by that.. (IMDB)

MGM is making it's co-op company UA into a independent styled production
company. The budgets for UA films will no longer pass 10 million. This is
in the style of Disney's Miramax. (IMDB)

AUSTRALIAN SHORT HORROR FILM FESTIVALS.
Last night I had the pleasure of going to see a couple of short film
festivals in Brisbane. The fact they were both Horror / B-grade film festivals
was all the more annoying.. Why put them both on the same night?? Anyhow
the first was titled "Horror at Hellfire"
(at the Brisbane Hellfire Club)and all entrants were Brisbane short filmmakers,
the award was donated by the Independent Film Magazine (just a subsciption,
but what the hey). Eight short films were shown and an encouragement award
was given out to the best film. "To Do"
a short film (20mins) Directed by Bart Sammut explored the ideals of popularity
within the family and the greater community. The film encapsulated every
technique you would expect to see in a big budgeted Hollywood horror film.
The director (under 20 years old) managed to make a slasher film that combines
plot twists that are unexpected in that DAYTIME SOAP kind of way. Imagine
sitting down and watching all every episode of Days of Our Lives that you
would see in one year, than throwing that into 40 minutes and further cutting
that down to 20 minutes. Bart Sammut is an Australian director to keep an
eye on, I conducted and interview with him on the night. It will appear
online tomorrow.
The Second festival was held by "Trash Video" (well known video
rarity trader). The night was held at "The Zoo" night club in
the Valley about 5 blocks from "Horror at Hellfire". I got to
this festival about 1 and half hours late so I missed about Half the films.
But I was there for the award cermony. Trash Video awards films that best
class themselves as being within the bounds of Schlock or Horror. The Winner
of the SILVER TRASHCAN award was a tie between "The Score" and
"The Yowie". The GOLD TRASHCAN was awarded to "The Creatures
from Outer Space". There is also an AWARD FOR MOST PAINFUL which went
to "Brizbeat 2: Turn up the Heat" which was a take off of a Cop
show, set in Brisbane, dubbed into English (using far to many of Brisbane's
so called Landmarks) and proclaimed to be made bny Golden Harvest (Hong
Kong Prod Company), although not horror, very Schlocky, and well when aliens
attack Brisbane, they can't even figure out how to use the train station
ticket machines. |
