Jake's Dream, Part 4
SCENE 13
FADE IN: The figure lurks outside the door of Jake’s office and stares at the kissing
couple. Suddenly the figure accidently leans on the door and it makes a creaking noise.
Jake sees the figure out of the corner of his eye while kissing Amanda.
JAKE: [pushing Amanda off his lap and getting out of his chair and
running after the stranger] Stop!
AMANDA: [straightning out her dress behind the desk] Who was it?
JAKE: [white collar shirt unbuttoned and standing at the door] It was the
kid!
AMANDA: [looking at him and touching up her lips with her finger] Kid?
JAKE: [looking at Amanda] The kid that was thrown in the closet. [looking
at Amanda’s puzzled face] It was why I was late.
AMANDA: [looking all coy] I thought it was a blonde
JAKE: [glaring at her]
AMANDA: [holding up Vicky’s sister’s picture] This blonde
JAKE: [walking over to her] I thought you didn’t find anything!
AMANDA: [looking at the picture] I didn’t!
JAKE: You found the picture
AMANDA: [handing the picture to Jake] If this is who you have to find, I
have nothing to worry about. [walking to the door]
JAKE: [turning around to face her with the picture in his hand] What’s
that supposed to mean?
AMANDA: [placing one hand on her hip and sliding the other seductively up
the door frame] What do you think it means, Mckinnon? [smiles and turns and leaves]
JAKE: [throws the picture down and looks out his window] She’s not
the one that you have to worry about, Red!
FADE OUT: Jake is left alone in his office staring out at the city.
SCENE 14
FADE IN: Vicky is walking alone on the docks as the darkness of the night falls on the
town of Bay City. She is in search for the boy and is ready to give up when the kid runs
around the corner and knocks her down.
STEVEN: [stops running and looks at Vicky on the ground] Sorry Miss!
VICKY: [on the ground and reaching for her purse and not looking at the
kid] You better be! [looks up to see Steven] YOU!
STEVEN: [seeing the woman from before] So, which one are you this time?
VICKY: [getting up and dusting herself off] The same one that should have
washed your mouth out with soap for the way that you speak to a lady!
STEVEN: [looking Vicky over] You ain’t no Lady! A Lady wouldn’t
be that dirty!
VICKY: [grabbing a hold of Steven’s arm] Didn’t your mother
ever teach you any manners.
STEVEN: [trying to struggle his arm free from Vicky] I ain’t got no
mother! Let go, Lady!
VICKY: [still having a grasp and is a little shocked that he doesn’t
have a mother] Now I’m a lady! You are coming with me and we are going to have a
talk.
FADE OUT: Vicky is dragging Steven by his arm up the docks and the scene ends.
SCENE 15
FADE IN: We see a dark mysterious room and a door opens allowing the light from the
hallway to enter the room. The figure walks to the desk removing his gloves and placing
them on the desk and then walks to a figure that is tied up in a chair.
MYSTERY GUY: Are you comfortable my dear? . . . [watching the person
squirm] I know, I know! The ropes are a little tight, but that’s the way it has to be
for now. [walks back to the desk and picks up the phone and makes a call]
MYSTERY GUY: [telephone call] Everything is set . . . Yes! . . . No,
[looking at the person that is tied up still in the dark room] No, she’s been no
trouble at all. . . . I still don’t understand why we need her, we already have that
other dame. [listens for a few seconds and hangs up the phone]
MYSTERY GUY: Well, it looks like you have to stay here for a little while
longer. [bends down(camera taking a shot of his back) to look the person in the face] It
shouldn’t be too long now.
FADE OUT: The guy walks to the door and opens it and we first clearly see a shot of a
little girl with red hair having been tied up in the chair. The man closes the door and we
see the darkness hide Allie again.
SCENE: 16
FADE IN: Jake is in his office as the night grows into early morning, and is quickly
disturbed by a cleaning guy opening his office door.
SHANE: [turning around to see Jake in his chair] Sorry, I thought
everybody went home for the night.
JAKE: [looking at him] That’s O.k. Just forget about this office
from now on. You are new to this job, aren’t you?
SHANE: [turning his cleaning cart around] Yeah
JAKE: [getting up and walking to the other door in his office] I live in
the next room, so this office doesn’t get cleaned, and I stay here all the time.
Therefore, [walking to the door where Shane is] I don’t need you!
SHANE: [moving his cart out the door that Jake is holding open] Sorry,
sir!
[exit Shane from the scene]
JAKE: [closes the door and the phone rings. He heads to his desk to
answer it] Mckinnon! . . . Who is this? . . . I understand . . . I said, I understand. Is
she alright? . . . Just tell me is she alright! [Jake looks up as the door opens and Vicky
and Steven are standing there]
FADE OUT: Vicky has a hold of Steven arm and enters the room. Jake hangs up the phone and
looks white as a ghost and stares at Vicky.
SCENE 17
FADE IN: Amanda walks into the Cory estate and into the living room. She heads up the
stairs to her room and passes her daughters room. She decides to check in on her angel,
but when she walks into the dark room all she sees is an empty bed that hasn’t been
slept in.
AMANDA: [heading
down the stairs and screaming] Claudia! Claudia, have you seen
Allie?
CLAUDIA: Isn’t she in her room, Miss Cory? [walking to the stairs]
AMANDA: No, she isn’t! I was just up there.
FADE OUT: Amanda and Claudia begin to search the house for the 10 year old Allie.
SCENE 18
FADE IN: Jake, Vicky and Steven are in his office. Jake takes a look at the child and
immediately heads straight for him.
JAKE: [taking him by the arm and leading him to a chair to sit down] Who
threw you in that closet.
STEVEN: [scared of Jake’s tone and grows silent]
JAKE: [raises his voice a little louder] What did you see?
VICKY: [grabbing a hold of Jake’s arm and spinning him around] He’s
not going to answer you. Can’t you see he is scared?
JAKE: [looking at her with a cold dark stare] Then maybe I should start
asking you a few question.
VICKY: [backing off Jake a little to give herself a little distance] Wh.
. .What questions?
JAKE: [walking toward her] Oh, I don’t know . . . What did you get
me into?
VICKY: [walking backward] I told you that my sister was supposed to come
to Bay City and she didn’t. That’s why. . .
JAKE: [stops in front of Vicky, who has hit the wall with her back] Cut
the crap! What was your sister doing in China?
VICKY: [looking at Jake] Wha. . . What’s . . .What’s wrong!
STEVEN: [sneaking out of the chair and runs for the door]
JAKE: [runs after him and gets to the door and closes it before Steven
could get out] Not so fast, I’m not done with either of you two, yet! [looking at
Vicky from across the room]
The phone rings in the office and Jake leads Steven to the chair and sits him back down.
Jake picks up the phone keeping his eye on both of them.
JAKE: [on the phone]. . . Calm down, Amanda. I know! . . . I got a call
from the guy who has her. . . No, it is being taken care of as we speak . . . I will find
her Amanda . . . I promise . . . You know I will. . . I will be right there.
VICKY: [looking concerned] What’s wrong?
JAKE: [looking to Vicky and then Steven, and back to Vicky] Sorry, Miss
Hudson, but I am off the case.
VICKY: [shocked] Why?
JAKE: [grabbing his jacket and hat]Because it just got a little too
personal.
FADE OUT: Jake leaves Vicky and Steven in his office as he heads to the Cory estate.
