SCENE
38
FADE IN: Ryan is in the hallway of Jake’s office and is
looking around to see if the coast is clear. He opens the door
and proceeds in and walks around the office. He stops by a lamp
and. . .
RYAN: [picking it up] Well, what do we have
here? [looks at the lamp] Good a place to start as any. [throws
it against the wall] Gee. . . temper, temper Jake.
[knock on the door]
RYAN:[looking around in Jake’s office]
Great! Just great! [hides in the bathroom of Jake’s office
and peeks in on the person trying to enter]
AMANDA: [walking in the office] Jake. . . Jake
are you here?
RYAN: [peeking through a crack in the door]
FADE OUT: Amanda is walking through the room and sits in Jake’s
chair with Ryan
looking on.
SCENE 39
FADE IN: Jake and Vicky are staring at each other.
BOTH: What did you say?
JAKE: Grew up in a . . .
VICKY: Park like this
JAKE: [walking away from the swing and to Vicky]
Where were you born? [putting his hands behind his head and
walking away] Never mind. . . couldn’t be
VICKY: [shocked and still thinking back to her
childhood] O.k! This is a little spooky!
JAKE: [turning around and looking at Vicky] Not
if you did your homework!
VICKY: What is that supposed to mean?
JAKE: [walking to her and standing in front of
her] Don’t play that blonde bimbo act! You know exactly what
I mean. . . [getting a cocky wise cracking smirk] SugarCakes!!
VICKY: SugarCakes? . . . [getting irritated and
angry] SugarCakes!! You listen here. . . you . . . you . . .
A little blonde girl runs in between Jake and Vicky disrupting
their conversation.
JAKE: you what?
VICKY: You are the most arrogant. . .
KEVIN: [a little boy chasing after the little
girl] I got them! I got them!! [running behind Jake and Vicky]
LITTLE GIRL: Gimme.
KEVIN: [by the swings and pulling the paper bag
away from her reach] No way. Last time you ate all of them while
I was sleeping. I’m holding onto them this time.
VICKY: [laughing]
JAKE: [looking at the little kids] Smart kid.
Never trust a blonde. [looking at Vicky] Especially a woman!
VICKY: That does it!
SCENE 40
FADE IN: Ryan is still looking out the door while Amanda is
sitting in Jake’s chair. There is a knock on the door as
Amanda perceeds to answer it.
AMANDA: [one hand on the door and the other on
her hip] Oh! It’s you!
MARLEY: Nice to see you again as well! [walking
in]
AMANDA: [still with her hand on the door and
facing where Vicky walked in] I don’t recall you being asked
to come in!
MARLEY: Is Jake here?
AMANDA: No. [leaving the door open and walking
to sit in Jake’s chair] You know the way out.
FADE OUT: Marley seeing Ryan through the crack in the door and is
getting a little panicky while Amanda sits in Jake’s chair.
