Scene 24
Characters: Vicky, Chris & Jake
Setting: the swings in lassiter
(Vicky with Chris's help has set up a romantic dinner for two. Lanterns,
candles and music playing in the background.)
CHRIS: (walking over to Vicky) Everything done?
VICKY: Yes. Everything looks great. (Hugs Chris) Thanks a million. I
couldn't
have done this without you.
CHRIS: I was glad to help out besides (he laughs) if Jake moves back home
I
get my place back to myself.
VICKY: Well if I get what I want, that is going to happen tonight.
CHRIS(looking at his watch): I better get going. It's time for the guest
of
honor to arrive.
Good luck! (he walks off and mumbles to himself) I don't think you are going
to need it because Jake loves you.
(Camera pansback to Vicky lighting the candles on the table as Jake walks up.
He looks around and a little smile comes across his face.)
VICKY: (turns around to face Jake) Hi.
JAKE: Hi, Vick.
VICKY: Thanks for coming. I am so glad that you did. (She twirls her hair
and
says nervously) Are you hungry? Not my cooking tonight. I ordered your
favorites from the Harbor club.
JAKE(laughs quietly): Sure.
VICKY: Good.
(Jake helps her with you her chair as she sits down at the table and then
goes and sits down and they begin to eat.)
JAKE: Have you heard anything from the boys? How is Kirkland handling
Grant's
death?
VICKY: Yes I talked to them earlier today. Kirkland is doing okay. I
really
think we did the right thing by sending them to the camp. Its good for him
to be around other kids and hopefully not sitting around thinking about
Grant. I really think with time he is going to okay.
JAKE: I am glad to hear that. Did you say anything about me leaving?
VICKY: No, because I hope that I can convince you to come home before
they do.
(Jake doesn't say anything and just looks at her.)
Scene 25
Characters: Jake & Vicky
Setting: the swings
(Vicky and Jake are still sitting at the table. Vicky stands up and walks
over to the boom box which has been playing music in the background. She puts
in a tape. "I Saved The Best For Last" by Vanessa Williams starts playing.)
VICKY(walking over to Jake): Dance with me? (Jake looks up at her but
just
sits there) Please?
(Jake gets up and they start to dance. They are standing a few inches away
from each other, but they are dancing.)
VICKY: Did you like the gifts I sent you?
JAKE: You really surprised me.
VICKY: But did you like them?
JAKE(laughs): Yes, especially the TV dinner.
VICKY(smiling). I knew that one was probably going to be your favorite.
JAKE(without realizing it he has moved a little closer to her): I loved
the
gifts.
VICKY(touchs his face): I have a few other things I would like to give
you if
you are willing to accept them.
JAKE(he has moved in even closer): What things?
VICKY: First and most importantly is my love forever. If you can accept
that
than I want to put this (she pulls off a chain which has Jake's wedding ring
on it) back on your finger where it belongs.
(Jake looks at her with tears in his eyes and holds out his left hand)
VICKY(sliding the ring on his finger): Forever.
(Jake gathers her close and they kiss passionately.)
Scene 26
Characters: Jake & Vicky
Setting: the swings
(Jake and Vicky are kissing and break apart but are holding each other and
still dancing.)
VICKY(kisses him): I love you Jake.
JAKE: I love you too.
VICKY: I don't ever want to be apart again. I am not going to say it is
going
to be easy because we are both stubborn, but we belong together. We have to
learn to talk to each other and work through things together even though it
might be painful for us. Please, please don't ever doubt my love again.
JAKE: As long as I know that you love me we can work through anything.
God, I
love you.
(Jake pulls her close for a passionate kiss.)
Scene 27
Characters: Jake & Vicky
Setting: the cottage in their bedroom
(They walk into the bedroom and Vicky walks over to a bucket of chilled
champagne she had left there earlier. Jake comes behind her and wraps his
arms around her and starts to kiss her neck.)
VICKY: Do you want some champagne?
JAKE: Maybe later, right now there is something I want more (he turns her
around and starts to kiss her, he starts with her lips and moves down to her
neck, back up to her face and finally back to her lips and he starts to
unbutton her blouse).
VICKY (breaking the kiss): Jake
JAKE: Hmm?
VICKY: Have I ever told you how I feel when you kiss me like that?
JAKE: No
(Vicky whispers into Jake ear and he smiles, then kisses her.)
Scene 28
Characters: Jake & Vicky
Setting: the cottage-their bedroom
(Jake and Vicky are kissing. Jake is steering them toward the bed but he
crashes them into the side of the bed and they fall onto the bed. They break
apart and are laughing. They stop and look at each other with desire in their
eyes.)
JAKE & VICKY(simultaneously): I love you.
(They reach for each other and start kissing again and Vicky is now
unbuttoning Jake's shirt.)
Vicky (stopping the kiss long enough to say) Please make love me me.
Right
now.
(Jake pushs her back on the bed and they resume kissing and pulling at each
other clothes.)
(Scene switches and we now see them under the covers making love.)
Scene 29
Characters: Jake & Vicky
the cottage their bedroom)
(Jake and Vicky are in bed- Vicky is in Jake's arms.)
VICKY (kisses him): Thank you.
JAKE: Your welcome.
VICKY(laughs) Well I didn't exactly mean for that. I meant for loving me
enough to stick with me and all the antics I have put you through.
JAKE: I love you, Vicky. More than I can say.
VICKY: Want some champagne now?
JAKE: No. All I want is you.
VICKY: Your wish is my command! (she starts kissing him and pulls him
over on
top of her)
Scene 30
Characters: Jake & Vicky
Setting: the cottage the next morning their bedroom
(Vicky is still in bed sleeping and Jake comes in dressed in his robe with a
cup of coffee for her. He sets the coffee down and just stands there staring
at her sleeping for a couple of moments and can't resist reaching down and
kissing her.)
VICKY(slowly waking up). What a nice way to start the morning. (she
kisses
him lightly on the lips)
JAKE: I brought you some coffee sleepyhead.
VICKY(sitting up in bed and taking the coffee from him): Thanks.
JAKE(walking towards the bathroom): I am going to take a shower.
VICKY: Why? Are you going somewhere?
JAKE: I am going to go over to pick up my stuff over at Chris's
(Jake heads on in to the bathroom and Vicky lies on the bed smiling.)
Scene 31
Characters: Jake & Vicky
Setting: the cottage their bedroom
Vicky is up out of bed dressed in her robe. She walks over to a drawer and
pulls two things out and places them on the table where Jake will find them.
She walks into the bathroom and we just see her robe fall to the floor. We
then see her in the shower with Jake kissing him.
Scene 32
Characters: Jake & Vicky
Setting: the cottage their bedroom
(They are both wearing their robes and walk into the bedroom.)
VICKY: Are you going to go to work after you pick up your stuff?
JAKE: No I thought I might spend the day with my wife if that is okay
with
you.
VICKY: You bet it is. Jake, could you please hand me my hairbrush?
(Jake reaches for the brush and sees the things that Vicky has placed there.
He picks up a framed hand drawn picture of a man, a woman, two boys and a
baby and two airline tickets for NYC. He turns towards Vicky with a question
in his eyes.)
JAKE(holding out the picture frame): Does this mean you're pregnant?
VICKY(walking over to him and putting her arms around him and smiling): I
wasn't when I drew that but who knows after last night and this morning. I
want us to replace that drawing with a picture of us hopefully 9 months from
now. The airline tickets are for us to go to NYC for a couple of days to make
that baby a reality. I would love for our baby to be conceived in the city
where I finally realized that you are the only man for me and that I loved
you.
JAKE(kisses her) When do we leave?
VICKY(laughing): Today.
JAKE: But the boys are due back.
VICKY: I have got it covered. I am sure they boys will understand if we
bring
them back a present or two.
JAKE: Okay let's fly!
