Scene
5
Characters: Jake, Gary, and Lila
Setting: Jake's old apartment
Jake is sitting on the couch while Gary is pacing back and forth
behind the couch.
Jake: [bending his neck back and looking upside
down at Gary] Would you relax!
Gary: Relax. Relax, you told me that we were
going to pull this off under Joe Carlino's nose and then you
invite him over to play poker?
Jake[leaping off the couch and climbs over the
couch and stops Gary from pacing] First, I never invited him to
play poker. Second, I have everything under control.
Gary: Yeah right. Do you mind explaining how I
am supposed to believe that we can pull this off?
There is a knock at the door and Jake looks at Gary with a cocky
smile.
Jake: Saved by the bell! [Jake proceeds to
answer the door]
Jake opens the door with vigor to reveal Lila standing with a
stern what do you want look.
Lila: You! [walks past Jake and into the
apartment swinging her purse to the table]
Jake: [turning around to see Lila standing in
the middle of the room] Me!
Lila: Well
Jake: Well, what?
Lila[walks to Jake and points a finger in his
chest] Where is Cass?
Jake:[moving her finger from his chest and a
trying to think of an excuse] Oh, forget it. He's not here.
Lila tries to walk to the door but is grabbed by the arm, as she
tries to get past Jake.
Jake: [mimic's Lila southern accent] Where do
you think you are going, Sugar?
Lila:[pulls away from Jake's grasp] Home
Jake:[still with the southern accent] Would that
be Cass' or Lumina boy? [serious voice] It's time for payback
Lila.
Lila's blue eyes glaze over with worry. Gary quickly comes to the
back of Lila and looks at Jake. Jake has a confident and cocky
look on his face.
Scene 6
Characters: Vicky, Donna, Paulina, Amanda, Josie, Toni and Alli
Setting: Harbour club
All the tables have the chairs up for closing. Everyone is seated
in the middle of the room with a card table set up.
Vicky: Hey, Paulina what's with the card table.
Paulina: I thought since the guys are playing
cards. . . we might as well too.
Amanda: [grabbing a chair and sitting down]
Great!
Paulina: And we can smoke these!
Vicky: Paulina, I still have a child in me.
Paulina: [patting vicky on the shoulder] There
chocolate.
Vicky: In that case give me one.
Donna: [bringing two bottles one in each hand to
the table] Apple Cider to Vicky and wine for the rest of us. By
the way, I am glad that you decided to tell me about this party,
and not being the last one to know like the pregnancy. I know how
hard that was for you.
Vicky: [sighs heavily] Here we go
Donna: [pointing to her chest with her left
hand] I mean, I am your mother and all.
Amanda: [looks at Vicky with a smile] I can't
wait to take all your money.
Vicky:[chomping down on the chocolate cigar]
Will see about that! Alli put on some music and let's play some
poker. None of that classical stuff my mother loves.

Scene 7
Characters: Jake, Lila and Gary
Lila has the worried look on her face and Gary is staring at
Jake.
Gary: Jake, what are you doing?
Jake: All part of the plan [walks toward Lila].
Payback time for all the stunts that she pulled. The letters, the
courtroom, the accusations. . .
Lila: [runs to the door and is about to leave]
Gary: Jake don't
Jake:[forces the door closed and pins Lila with
his body to the back of the door and whispers in her ear] Relax,
Lila. I just want you to do what you do
best.[looks up and down at her body and smiles]
Lila:[stumbles out] You are a married man
Jake: [laughing] You wish! [backs away from Lila
and stands near Gary] I just want you to forge a letter and we
will be even.
Lila: You complete immature jerk! [walks to the
couch and takes the pen in her hand] Where is the pad of paper?
Gary: [looks at Jake standing beside him] I
forgot how slimy of a snake you could be!
Jake:[turns his head to face Gary with his hand
on his chin and smiles] You ain't seen anything yet!
Lila: So, whose hand writing am I copying?
Jake: [walks over and puts a copy of a note on
the coffee table]
Lila: Paulina's!
Gary looks at Jake and is still trying to figure out what is
going on.
Jake:[looks at Lila] You write what I say, and
don't ask any questions.
Lila:[looks up from her sitting position] Then,
we are even.
Jake: With me. . . Yes. With Vicky. . . take it
up with her at the baby shower.
Lila: I wasn't invited
Jake: You are now
Gary: Why does she have to go?
Jake: Her alibi! [smiles and looks at both Gary
and Lila]
Scene 8
Characters: Jake, Gary, Chris, Matt, Cass, Nick and Cameron
Setting: Jake's apartment
Jake and Gary are sitting on the couch drinking a couple of beers
awaiting the party.
Gary: I got it Jake.
Jake: Are you sure?
Gary: Yes
Jake: repeat it to me
Gary: I said I have it Mckinnon
Jake: You are positive that you have every
single detail down.
Gary:[about to answer but is stopped by the door
bell] I'll get that!
Gary answers the door and the gang is all waiting. Joe and Chris
are the first one to come in and they are carrying beer and chips
and cigars.
Jake: You brought cigars
Gary: How poetic.
Joe:[looks around the room] Where's the card
table Mckinnon?
Jake: Change of plans
Matt: What do you mean?
Cass: What's the matter Matt? Where you confused
then, and now even more confused.
Matt: [looks at Cass with evil eyes]
Chris:[stands behind Jake] I'll bite. What's the
new plan?
Joe: He's just remembering the time that I took
Carlino's building away from him.
Jake:[laughs] I let you win Elvis. Believe me I
would love to take all of you to the cleaners. . .
Cameron: In your dreams Mckinnon!
Matt: He's scared
Joe: Who would have thought that Jake would bail
out on a game with money involved?
Jake: [gets in Joe face] I am not bailing!
However, if you want to blame someone blame your wife Carlino.
Joe: What's that supposed to mean?
Gary: It means that your wife and the rest of
the girls have planned a game for us to play. Loser, has to
participate in the Valentine's Day Dare-a-thon at K-Bay.
Matt: Yeah, I heard something about that.
Cass: Donna's gig.
Jake: [looks Joe in the eye]Are you going to
bail Carlino? Is there a streak of yellow in you.
Joe: Tell you what Mckinnon. You and I are
captains. We take the list and split it in half and whatever you
have in your wallet and whatever I have in mine is the bet.
Choose your team!
Jake:[smiling at Gary] Cass, Chris, and Nick
Joe: That leaves me with Gary, Cameron and Matt
Cass: [steps in front of Jake and Joe] Hold on!
What's the new game?
Jake: A scavenger hunt!
Exit scene.
