Part 2
Scene 6
Setting: Hospital, Paulina, Vicky
Paulina: Are you allright?
Vicky: Look I know that I'm not your favorite person right now,
Paulina: I just hate to see Jake hurt, I just don't understand how you
could…..(she stops herself from continuing)
Vicky: Sleep with Shane? (her voice raising) Well I didn't I never did,
there is just so much that you don't understand nor does Jake.
Paulina: What I do understand is that Man, that Man who loves you more
than life itself is hurting.
Vicky: I know that! What am I going to do? you may not believe me and I
don't care if you do but that man is my life, (starting to cry again) he's the air that I
breath, I have to make him see that!
Paulina: I don't think he going to see that right now, I'm not sure if
you can make this right Vicky, but lets get you home and we can talk some more if you want
to come on.
Vicky: I'm scared, Paulina. I'm really scared what he might do….
Scene 7: Music in background is Madonna's Frozen.
Setting: New York City
We see Jake going to all the places that him,Vicky and the kids visited, we see him
sitting at the pond and as he's looking into the water he flashes back to that famous
scene where Vicky kisses him. He looks up across the pond and he sees a couple with 2 boys
and a baby, the father is helping the boys sail some boats while the mother is playing
with the baby, there all laughing and enjoying the moment. Its killing Jake to look at
that happy family.
Jake (to himself): That could have been us Vicky, that could have been
us.
(Jake gets up off the bench and
starts to walk away)
Scene 8
Setting : The Herald, Amanda is in her and Jake's office hovering over some papers.
Amanda (muttering to herself): Jake I could kill you right now, leaving
town and leaving me with this mess, how am I going to get the paper to press on time!
Vicky (standing at the door, in a short black skirt, short black top,
dressed to the 9's): What do you mean Jake left town?
Amanda: (sarcastically) What he didn't tell you? Why is it that everytime
you two have a fight I end up having to take over Jake's work
Vicky: Answer my question, what do you mean Jake left town?
Amanda: Ya he left town I guess he finally came to his senses about you
two.
Vicky: Amanda why is it that I always get attitude with you? Is it
because you haven't had a date in months?
(The phone rings, Amanda puts her hand up)
Amanda: Yes, What! New York what's he ..….(she looks up at Vicky) oh
hmmmm I see yes that will be fine we will settle it then. Thanks, thanks a lot. (she hangs
up the phone) Oh you still here (knowing full well that she was standing there) Look Vicky
he apparently doesn't want anyone to know where he is, I don't even know where he is he
never tells me anything, so if you don't mind I have a paper to run.
Vicky: I have a feeling that you wouldn't tell me even if you did know.
Amanda: Hmmm you're not a dumb blonde after all.
Vicky (turns to leave, then turns around): Oh Amanda, don't get
your heart set on Jake and me not getting back together, because we will I guarantee it!
Have a nice day. (Vicky walks out the door)
Amanda: (to herself) Jake you owe me big time for this, she's not going
to give up.
(Vicky stands outside of the Herald, turns around and says) ..Thanks Amanda for telling me
where Jake is……. Jake I'm coming and you'd better be ready!
Scene 9
Setting: New York City, this is the apartment that Jake and Vicky were going to life in
when they moved to NY to get away from Shane.
(Jake standing outside the apartment door)
Jake: What am I doing here? (he stops, takes a deep breath, he puts the
key in the lock and slowy opens the door, he walks in and looks around and what he sees
are tons of balloons and a big sign that says welcome home, and under it in a red sign it
says "Jake, Vicky, Steven & Kirklands Place"
The phone rings, after a few rings Jake goes over and picks it up.
Jake: Hello?
Other end: Yes, Mr. Mckinnon, I'm just calling to make sure everything is
okay in your new place, is everything the way you expected it to be?
Jake: (looks around the place) No, it never will be…
Other end: Excuse me?
Jake: Oh, oh, I'm sorry, yes everything is what I asked for, thank you.
(he hangs up)
It's not what you got though. is it? (he shakes his head, walks over to the table that has
a bottle of champagne one that is alcohol and one that is non-alcohol) Well, I guess I
might as well celebrate. (he pops the cork and takes a swig right from the bottle) yep,
this will do, this will do for now…..
