[The episode begins inside the workout area of the Angel Grove Youth
Center, focusing upon a practice target. The target consists of dark
green padding attached to a lighter-coloured post, resulting in the
crude depiction of a human figure. Zack stands to the left, coaching
 Jason through a karate routine.]

Zack : All right, Jason, place your foot high and concentrate on the
        mid-section. All right?
Jason : [barely audible] Right.

[Looking distinctly uncomfortable, Jason faces the target, focusing
his mental energies ... then blinks, spin-kicks towards it ... and
misses. He throws out his arms and distractedly sweeps his right
 hand over his dark hair.]

Jason : I just can't concentrate.
 Zack : Try again.

[Jason hesitates, his eyes shifting from Zack to the target.]

Zack : [insistently] Come on, man, try again. The Tournament's only
        a few hours away.
Jason : [muttering] Right.

[Jason braces himself, regarding the target with haunted eyes. Face
set with half-hearted determination, he moves in to kick.]

[All of a sudden, a transparent image of Tommy flashes in front of the
target. The former Green Ranger stares silently, sadly, and then he
 is gone.]

[Jason arrests his kick and hops on his left foot as he lowers his
right, still engrossed by the melancholy vision. He turns to Zack,
who appraises him with a critical, almost accusatory eye.]

Jason : I just -can't-.

[Zack comes closer, looping his arm over one of the target bars.]

Zack : Man, what's wrong?

[Jason says nothing, dejectedly staring at the target.]

Zack : I knew it. It's Tommy. You miss him.
Jason : It's more than that.
 Zack : What?
Jason : It's my fault he lost his powers in the first place.

[Zack listens compassionately.]

Jason : If I'd gotten the Green Candle, he'd still be one of us.
Zack : Come on, Jase, you had no choice. I know; I was -there-.
Jason : [runs hands over hair] No. I should have gotten the Candle.

[And with that, he launches a high-kick at the target, again falling
short. Still leaning over the bar, Zack quickly pulls back and then
 watches Jason sadly.]

[Cross to an exterior shot of Lord Zedd's Palace. The dark lord is
standing out on the Balcony; Goldar approaches as he speaks.]

Lord Zedd : So, the Red Ranger is feeling -guilty-, is he?
Goldar : Yes. These foolish humans have an incredible sense
            of loyalty.
Lord Zedd : [snapping] A character flaw you obviously don't
            suffer from!

[Goldar recoils.]

Lord Zedd : Rita's Green Candle was just the beginning.

[Focus upon a candelabra nearby. Its branches support four candles,
all reminiscent of the one that stole Tommy's powers. From left to
right they go: black, pink, yellow, and blue. The candelabra also
supports a pair of mounted golden orbs.]

Lord Zedd's voice : THESE are the end.

[Back on the Balcony, Lord Zedd touches the spike on his forehead.]

Lord Zedd : I wonder how the Red Ranger will feel after the remaining
Rangers' powers have been drained and extinguished, as
once again he stands powerless to stop it!

[Lord Zedd closes his fist, uttering a sinister chuckle. Goldar nods
 and growls his approval.]

[Cross to an establishing shot of the Youth Center. Inside, Zack and
Billy are sitting on the Juice Bar step. In a moment it will be
revealed that Kimberly is sitting off-screen to their left.]

Zack : Guys, I'm worried about Jason.

[Billy nods. In the background, Bulk and Skull walk past, unnoticed.]

Kimberly : I know. Well, the only solution is that we have to find
Tommy. [stands up] I mean, Ranger or no Ranger, he's
still our friend, and Jason needs him.

[Bulk and Skull come to an abrupt halt, detecting a certain key word
in that sentence! Kimberly continues speaking, seemingly unaware of
the duo, and Zack nods in agreement with her conclusion.]

Kimberly : I -know- Tommy would want to help. I mean, he would never
forgive us if we didn't tell him.

[The three of them walk away. Bulk and Skull watch suspiciously.]

Billy : I agree. But where is Tommy?
Kimberly : Well, I've been thinking about that, too. He -might- be
at his uncle's cabin - you know, the one at the lake?

[Zack and Billy nod.]

Kimberly : He told me he goes there when he feels down.
Zack : Well, let's go. We'll take my car.
Billy : All right, I'll call Trini and tell her we'll pick her up.
Kimberly : Okay.

[The three of them leave the room. Cross over to Bulk and Skull, now
in the process of hatching another scheme.]

[Bulk presses both palms onto one of the Juice Bar tables, grinning
slyly as he leans forward. Skull, still watching the Rangers leave,
absently tries the same action but misses the edge of the table. He
amends his error just as Bulk begins to speak.]

Bulk : Did you hear that, Skully-boy? She said 'Ranger'.
Skull : As in "Power Ranger". [grins confidentially]

Bulk : [annoyed] Of course, dimwit.

[Skull comes as close as he can to glaring at Bulk.]

Bulk : We are not gonna let those geeks find out who the Power Rangers
       are before we do.

[Skull grins and nods.]

Bulk : [suddenly inspired] Let's follow 'em.

[Their faces express mischievous glee.]

Bulk : Yeah.

[Skull zips away; Bulk follows.]

[Cross over to a quiet street near a park. Zack's car hoves into view,
and the four Rangers can briefly be glimpsed inside. Zack is driving,
with Kimberly beside him; Billy and Trini sit in the back.]

Kimberly : I sure hope Tommy's up here.

[Apparently unnoticed, a yellow cab is tailing them. Bulk is driving;
Skull is leaning out the passenger window, peering through a rather
odd camera. His door is adorned, perhaps fittingly, with a skull
 and crossbones.]

Bulk : Lucky my aunt let us borrow her taxi today!
[mutters] Too bad we had to turn the meter on.

[Cross to the interior of Zack's car. The wind blows a lock of hair
across Kimberly's left eye, and she brushes it away.]

Zack : Are we almost there yet?
Kimberly : You know what? I don't really know.

[Cross to a side-shot as she looks out the window.]

Kimberly : Maybe we should pull over and, ah, check the map.

[The car drives off-screen. Cross to the cab.]

Bulk : [excitedly] They've stopped! We're pulling over!

[Bulk swerves the steering wheel to the right. Skull slowly falls back
against him, snapping a picture in the process, and then returns to
sticking his head out the window. Bulk avidly studies the road ahead,
not wanting to miss a second of the action.]

[Bulk pulls up beside a green hill. Skull snaps a shot of something
on the road, then his eyes gleam as he spots something in the sky.
Click! He turns his head, lining up another shot ... ]

Bulk : [irate] Stop it, dolt! We need that film!

[Click!]

Bulk : [yanks Skull back into cab] Come on!

[Bulk hauls open his door and lumbers off into the park. Skull
 follows, leaving the camera behind.]

[Zack has pulled up further along the road, and the four Rangers get
out. Billy has a map, which he unfolds and places over the bonnet of
 the car.]

Billy : Let's see. We took the cut-off from the highway here.
That was about 10 miles ago.

[Cross to an exterior shot of Lord Zedd's Palace. The arch-villain
is standing out on the Balcony; Goldar lurks in the background.]

Lord Zedd : Excellent! They're all together and out in the open!
Goldar : That will make them easy to capture, my lord.
Lord Zedd : [whirls around] Nothing is ever that simple for you,
Goldar! Capture them and bring them to my Dimension
            of Doom.
   Goldar : [bows] Yes.

[Back on Earth, Billy indicates the map with mild frustration.]

   Billy : Guys ... I think we're lost.
   Trini : Lost?
Kimberly : I don't believe this.

[Goldar appears up on the hill, from a blaze of fire.]

Goldar : [taunting] Not as lost as you're going to be ... heh-heh,
         Power Rangers!
Zack : [instantly] It's Morphin' Time!

[The four of them reach for their Morphers, and the Morphing Sequence
 begins.]

Zack : Mastodon! [morphs into the Black Ranger]
Kimberly : Pterodactyl! [morphs into the Pink Ranger]
Billy : Triceratops! [morphs into the Blue Ranger]
Trini : Sabre-toothed Tiger! [morphs into the Yellow Ranger]

[The four Rangers strike battle stance.]

Goldar : [laughs] You don't stand a chance!

[Bulk and Skull arrive nearby, stopping near a tree, some bushes, and
a boulder. Bulk chokes and points off-screen; Skull gasps in shock.]

Bulk : It's that big gold guy! Look!

[Goldar laughs again, not seeing them. Skull nods fearfully.]

Bulk : Get the camera, dimwit! [excitedly] The Power Rangers are
       gonna be here any minute!

[Skull grins and runs off-screen. Bulk vaults over the boulder and
 continues to spy on Goldar.]

Goldar : [laughs] Today will mark the final end of the Power Rangers!
         [laughs again]

[Skull comes running up to the boulder, camera in hand. Bulk has now
 ducked out of sight.]

Skull : I got it, Bulky! Move over!

[He springs over the boulder, landing on top of (an unseen) Bulk.]

Bulk's voice : Get off me!
       Skull : Sorry.

[Skull ducks behind the boulder, too.]

Bulk's voice : Get the camera set up, dork. Hurry up! We're gonna
               miss all the action!

[Skull's hand balances the camera upon the boulder.]

Goldar's voice : -will be your master(?)
Blue Ranger's voice : Yeah, right, Goldar. Give it your best shot!

[Up in the tree, a bird's nest is sitting precariously on the
edge of a branch. It starts to teeter ... ]

Blue Ranger's voice : We're ready for you!

[Briefly focus on the Rangers in battle stance.]

Bulk's voice : I hear 'em!
 Blue Ranger : Come on!

[Cross to Bulk and Skull crouched behind the boulder.]

Bulk : [to Skull] Shoot, dimwit! Take the picture!

[Skull presses the button ... and the nest topples down from the
tree, spraying the unfortunate duo with yolk. The nest itself glances
against the camera, bumping it off-course. An egg splatters upon it.]

[Skull groans "Oh, no" as the yolk drips from his face. Bulk groans
as well, spitting out more yolk.]

[Far less comical events are happening nearby; Goldar growls in
sinister fashion, finally tired of gloating.]

Goldar : Prepare to suffer the same fate as the Green Ranger!

[The four Rangers make their way towards him, but before they can get
there, the gold warrior zaps them with bursts of flaming yellow
energy from his sword. Fiery bursts draw them away, and he cackles
 with sheer delight.]

[Cross up to Lord Zedd sitting on his throne.]

Lord Zedd : Ah! Well done, Goldar. You may have those four to
play with. The Red Ranger, however, is -mine-.

[Back on Earth, Bulk and Skull raise their egg-splattered faces from
behind the boulder. Bulk spits out more yolk.]

Bulk : [looks around, startled] Hey!

[Quick shot of the empty terrain.]

Bulk : Where'd the Rangers go?! [sighs wearily] Come on. Let's go to
that hour-photo place and develop our million dollar picture!
       [rubs camera]

[Cross now to the four captive Rangers, imprisoned in a cell within
Lord Zedd's Dimension of Doom. Aside from the bars, the chamber is
identical to that of Rita's Dark Dimension ... where the Green
 Candle worked its dire magic.]

Pink Ranger : Let us out of here, Goldar! You're not gonna get away
              with this!

[Zoom out to show Goldar on the other side of the bars. He stands near
the candelabra shown earlier, its golden Z symbol now visible, with
the cell key in his left hand. His right hand contains a holder which
bears a (lit) fragment of wax. -Green- wax.]

Goldar : [fixes key to candelabra] But I already have! [laughs]
Pink Ranger : [worried] Guys ... we gotta get out of here.
Goldar : [faces them] Never! Your Ranger days are over!
Blue Ranger : No way!
Goldar : This sliver of green wax is all that remains of
              your Green friend's power.

[Goldar holds the lit sliver towards the Black Candle. Focus in on
the Pink Ranger watching silently. As he speaks, Goldar lights the
other candles: Pink, Yellow, and Blue.]

Goldar : Funny that its final act is to light the flame that will
strip you of -your- powers! [laughs] And just like the Green
Ranger ... [turns back around] ... your time as Power Rangers
         will burn to nothing!

[The green sliver winks out. Goldar laughs again. Inside the cell,
the Black Ranger wrenches at the bars, but to no avail.]

Blue Ranger : If Goldar isn't stopped, we'll lose our powers,
              just like Tommy.
Pink Ranger : Don't lose hope, you guys. Jason's still out there,
              remember?

[Cross to an exterior shot of the Command Center. Inside, Jason
 is standing facing Zordon.]

Jason : What do you mean they've disappeared, Zordon? Where's
         Goldar taken them?
Zordon : Most likely to one of Lord Zedd's hidden dimensions. Alpha
is in the process of conducting a sector scan now.

[Alpha is stationed by one of the control panels. Jason steps down
towards the Viewing Globe, hooking his thumbs in his black belt.]

Alpha : All locations occupied by the Power Rangers during the last 24
hours will appear on the Viewing Globe.

[The Viewing Globe displays three shots of the parkland where the
Rangers were captured. These are followed by a shot of a green banner
outside the Youth Center announcing "Golden Pipe KARATE TOURNAMENT
TODAY". Finally, the Golden Pipe Trophy itself is displayed: a
circular frame containing what looks like a half-spoked sun, with
a couple of loops through the bottom.]

Zordon : [speaking throughout] Jason, the other Rangers wanted you
to win the Golden Pipe Karate Trophy. But they knew you
were worried about Tommy. The Rangers went to find him.
Jason : That trophy means nothing without my friends here to
share it. Alpha, you -have- to locate them. [faces Alpha]
 Alpha : I'm trying, Jason, I'm -trying-. Ai-yi-yi-yi-yi!
         [pushes buttons]

[Cross to a Balcony shot of Lord Zedd's Palace. Heated laughter boils
 from the arch-villain's throne.]

Lord Zedd : [staring off towards the Balcony] Hahaha! That trophy Red
Ranger wants to win will become the instrument of his
            demise.

[He raises his Staff(at a reversed angle). White energy crackles from
it, striking the Golden Pipe Trophy and whisking it away. Elsewhere
in the city, it reappears as a two-legged monster with the trophy
forming its head. A loop of tentacle serves as a "trunk", with an
eye at the tip. The monster has a normal right hand and something
that looks more like a tentacle in place of the left.]

Monster : {male} Here!

[Cross back to the Chamber of Command.]

Lord Zedd : [glowing red] The showdown begins, Red Ranger: a final
battle of -wits- between you and me. [chuckles]

[Back in the Command Center, the Alarm goes off.]

Alpha : Ai-yi-yi-yi-yi! What -else- can go wrong?
Zordon : Lord Zedd has sent his new Pipe Brain Monster to attack
         Angel Grove.

[As Zordon speaks, Jason and Alpha turn towards the Viewing Globe. It
shows the monster, Pipe Brain, marching through the city.]

Zordon : He is very swift and powerful. Jason, you must stop him.
Jason : [turns back] But, Zordon, I'll need my friends.
Alpha : Jason! I've finally found them!
Jason : Where are they, Alpha?
Zordon : As I feared, the other Rangers are being held prisoner
in Lord Zedd's Dimension of Doom. Goldar is about to take
advantage of the one weakness of the Power Team.

[As Zordon speaks, Jason walks down to the Viewing Globe. The scrying
device shows Goldar addressing his captives in the Dimension of
Doom. Beside him, the candles have burned about halfway down.]

Goldar : [on Viewing Globe] As soon as the candles melt, your powers
         will be gone forever!

[The Black, Yellow, and Blue Rangers sink towards the misty floor. In
front of them, the Pink Ranger groans, weakly clutching the bars.]

[Jason watches their plight in anguish. His breathing intensifies
and his neck muscles tighten as he grapples with rage.]

Zordon : Jason, you must control your anger. This is exactly the
reaction Lord Zedd wants. You must not allow him to gain
the upper hand. Red Ranger, come, stand before me.

[Jason silently obeys.]

Zordon : Jason, a true leader is always faced with tough decisions.
He must control his emotions and act based on who has the
         greatest need.
Alpha : Jason, you made the right decision when you left Tommy's
         Candle.
Zordon : The other Rangers needed you then, as they need you now.
You must face another tough decision. If you enter Zedd's
dimension, your powers could also be lost.

[Jason steps forward.]

Jason : It's a risk I'm willing to take to save my friends, Zordon.
Zordon : You have made a fine leader, Red Ranger. Only by defeating
the Pipe Brain Monster will you gain access to the
alter-dimension and your fellow Rangers. Good luck,
Jason, and may the Power protect you.

Jason : It's Morphin' Time!

[The Morphing Sequence begins.]

Jason : Tyrannosaurus! [morphs into the Red Ranger]

[The Red Ranger appears out in the park, ready for battle. Pipe Brain,
standing on a separate shot in front of a building, fires several
 tentacles at him. The Red Ranger staggers back and runs off-screen;
several Putties somersault into position around him.]

Pipe Brain : [now in front of a foresty background] Haha! Gotcha! You
disappoint me, Red Ranger: I thought you'd be tougher.
             Finish him, Putties!

[A Putty leaps off the ground, aiming a double-fisted punch at the Red
Ranger. With a loud "Ha!" he strikes the clay soldier in mid-air; it
crashes to the ground on its back.]

[Pipe Brain, who is now standing against the building background once
more, lashes out with his tentacles. The Red Ranger dodges the first
attack but is struck by the second, albeit with minimal damage, and
 runs off-screen again.]

[He flips awkwardly; a pair of Putties seize him and hurl him to the
ground. Rolling clear, the leader of the Power Rangers gets to his
feet, about to go on the offensive.]

[The Red Ranger ploughs through the Putties, punching two and dodging
the blows of a third. He kicks a fourth, back-kicks the third to the
ground, and turns to deal with a fifth. Blocking its right arm, he
swiftly jabs it in the stomach and flips the soldier down.]

[Now standing under a tree, the Red Ranger steps forward.]

Red Ranger : Hey, Putties! Over here!

[Beckoning, he runs off-screen with the Putties(now upright again) in
hot pursuit. The Red Ranger halts under another tree and goes into
battle stance against his approaching foes.]

[He leaps into the air, out of the path of a Putty as it lumbers
towards him. Landing elsewhere, he blocks another Putty's right
arm and socks it in the chest. Spinning around, he lands a chop
 to the same area.]

[The Putty flies back against a high tree branch, then drops and
shatters right in front of the triumphant Red Ranger.]

[Cross up to Lord Zedd and Goldar watching from the Palace Balcony.]

Lord Zedd : Think you're tough, do you? [summons and hurls potion]
Well, try this on for size! Ha!

[The potion drops through the air and explodes, growing Pipe Brain
to huge size. He leans towards his tiny opponent.]

Red Ranger : Tyrannosaurus Red Dragon Thunder Zord Power!

[The Tyrannosaurus transforms into Red Dragon mode in the usual way;
lightning flashes as the mighty creature roars and then takes to a
dark and stormy sky. Pipe Brain watches, growling.]

[The magnificent dragon curls through the inky sky, swooping past Pipe
Brain and lashing him with its claws. The eye at the end of Pipe
Brain's "trunk" blinks and blasts blue flame at its airborne
foe. Sparking explosions flare up around the lone Thunder Zord.]

[Uttering a low growl, the Red Dragon turns for another attack. Pipe
Brain steels himself ... as the Red Thunder Zord spews fire. Sparks
 surge around the transformed trophy.]

[Amidst a fiery inferno, the Red Dragon transforms into Warrior Mode.]

Pipe Brain : Whoa, think you're a big shot, huh?

[Focus in on the immobile Red Dragon Warrior.]

Pipe Brain : Well, you'll learn I'm the top trophy around here!

[The Dragon Warrior responds with a quick series of air punches, and
the two giants begin to circle each other.]

Pipe Brain : And now I'm gonna show you why!

[With a loud growl, Pipe Brain charges into battle. The Red Dragon
Warrior advances to meet him, and combat begins.]

[Pipe Brain lashes out with his right foot; the Dragon Warrior blocks
and then dodges a swing from its opponent's tentacled arm. Grabbing
the tentacle - its cavernous mouth gaping - the Dragon Warrior tries
a quick chop at Pipe Brain's "head". Pipe Brain blocks with his right
hand, the eye at the end of his "trunk" blinking tensely.]

[The Dragon Warrior throws back its gold-covered foe and then darts
forward to press the attack. Easily deflecting two more strikes, the
humanoid Thunder Zord delivers a fierce series of punches to its
opponent's slimy form. A single kick sends the weakened monster
 to the ground.]

Pipe Brain : [groaning, arm in the air] Ohh, boy! You got me ...

[Pipe Brain's single eye closes as he collapses. The Dragon Warrior
stares down at the fallen trophy ... whose eye suddenly springs open
 again.]

Pipe Brain : [sitting up] Just kidding!

[Pipe Brain's tentacle arm surges forward, wrapping itself around the
Dragon Warrior like a python. As the Warrior grapples with the
tentacle's tip, Pipe Brain stands back up. The entangled Warrior
 continues to struggle.]

Pipe Brain : [laughs evilly] Take THAT!

[He slaps the tentacle, sending an electrical charge through it. The
Dragon Warrior is continuously zapped amidst a shower of sparks and
then sinks to its left knee, still entwined.]

Pipe Brain : [laughs gleefully] I got you! I got you!

[Suddenly producing its staff, the Red Dragon Warrior pounds the
restraining tentacle. There is a bright discharge of sparks, and
Pipe Brain topples backwards, the long smoking tentacle trailing
after. He quickly rises once more.]

[With renewed vigour, the Dragon Warrior slams its staff against Pipe
Brain's frame, then plants the tip against the ground and swings
around, kicking him one ... two ... three times. Pipe Brain crashes
down again. The humanoid Dragon stands in battle pose, its mighty
 weapon held behind its head.]

[The Dragon Warrior twirls its staff in the air. Its golden eyes gleam
as it holds the spinning rod in front of its body: a whirlwind of
crimson power. Tiny bursts of energy, almost akin to petals, spray
toward Pipe Brain as he clambers to his feet.]

Pipe Brain : [reeling amidst spray] Hey, stop it! I'm getting dizzy!

[The Dragon Warrior closes in and strikes Pipe Brain with its staff;
red energy spheres run through the monster, eventually resulting in
a small explosion. As the twirling staff comes to a standstill, the
trophy monster collapses and explodes. The Red Dragon rests, passage
 to the alter-dimension now assured.]

[The Golden Pipe Trophy returns to its original place, apparently
 undamaged.]

[Back in the Dimension of Doom, things are looking bleak for the
remainder of the Power Team. In the foreground, the Pink Ranger
clutches at the bars of the cell, her suit shimmering as her powers
fail. Goldar stands outside, laughing triumphantly near the
 guttering candles.]

Goldar : In a few moments, the Power Rangers will be history, and the
world will belong to Lord Zedd! [laughs]

[The other Rangers can now be seen inside the cell, their suits also
 shimmering.]

Pink Ranger : [weak/scared] Jason, where are you?
Goldar : The Red Ranger can't save you this time!

[Red energy blasts through one of the spoked archways.]

Red Ranger : Think again, Goldar!
Goldar : [turns, startled] You're here!

[The Red Ranger lashes his right foot at Goldar. Goldar blocks and
plants his own foot against his opponent's chest, knocking him to
his hands and knees on the misty ground.]

Goldar : Now I'll finish you all!

[Focus briefly on the sinister candelabra, then pull back to reveal
a more distant shot of the battleground. The Red Ranger gets back
 on his feet.]

Goldar : You'll wish you never came here!

[Goldar chops his sword at the Red Ranger and misses. He follows with
a powerful lunge, the force of which spins him all the way round. The
Red Ranger throws himself away from the cutting blade.]

[He is on his feet almost instantaneously, throwing another kick. The
gold warrior blocks and then slashes at the Red Ranger, who falls
 down again.]

[The Red Ranger gets back up, delivering two spin-kicks, the second
of which knocks Goldar's sword out of his hand. Disarmed, Goldar
lunges for his human enemy; the Red Ranger whirls around at top
speed and spins over his head!]

[Upon landing, the Red Ranger fazes Goldar with a mid-kick and a
spin-kick. Each takes a swipe at the other; each misses. When Goldar
 swings again, the Red Ranger grabs his right arm in a tight lock;
Goldar doubles over for but a moment before breaking free.]

[The Red Ranger jumps off the ground, trying to land another punch,
but Goldar grabs him, hits him in the stomach, seizes him by the
left shoulder, and shoves him down.]

[Goldar growls as the Red Ranger again finds his feet. The Red Ranger
spins and kicks, knocking Goldar back into the candelabra. It falls
with a clatter; a shower of sparks explodes, setting off a steady
 fire.]

Pink Ranger : Jason, the candles! Hurry!

[Goldar gets to his feet, seemingly defeated. As he gives his parting
taunt, the Red Ranger shields himself on the other side of the
 blaze.]

Goldar : You may once again have won the battle, Red Ranger,
but you will never win the war! [laughs and vanishes]
Red Ranger : Oh, man!

[Almost as quickly as it came, the mysterious fire disappears.]

Pink Ranger : [imploringly] Jason, hurry!

[The Red Ranger goes to the fallen candelabra and picks up the cell
key. He carries it to the door and starts unlocking the padlock.]

Blue Ranger : Jason, hurry!
Pink Ranger : Hurry!
Red Ranger : Hang on, guys!

[The Blue Ranger groans. The Red Ranger removes the chain and opens
the cell door; the Black Ranger weakly grasps one of its bars with
 his left hand.]

[The leader of the Power Rangers extends his right palm in a firm,
 decisive manner.]

Red Ranger : Quick, give me your Power Coins!
Blue Ranger : [weakly] Here.

[He places the Coin in his leader's white-gloved palm. Silently, the
Yellow and Black Rangers add theirs.]

Pink Ranger : [following suit] Here, take it. Just please be quick.
Red Ranger : [closes fist over Coins] All right!

[He hurries to the candelabra and sets it upright.]

Red Ranger : Hang on, guys! I got an idea!

[He places the Blue and Yellow Power Coins upon the stumps of the
Blue and Yellow Candles. Almost drained, the shimmering Rangers
 crouch down on the floor.]

Blue Ranger : I can't hold on!

[The Red Ranger puts the Pink and Black Coins upon their equivalent
candles and holds his own Coin between the golden orbs. Red energy
strikes the globes, which in turn beam Ranger-coloured energy into
the candle stubs(Blue and Yellow from the right orb, Pink and Black
from the left orb), replenishing them.]

[A last surge of energy transmits from Coin to orbs. The candles
dissolve into energy bursts and fly off-screen towards the cell.]

Red Ranger : [grips Coin in fist] Power Up!

[Inside the cell, the Rangers are on their feet again, no longer
shimmering. The energy bursts fly onto their empty belt buckles,
 completing the restorative process.]

Black Ranger : All right! Yeah, we did it!
Blue Ranger : [lightly] Come on, let's get out of here.
 Pink Ranger : Yes.

[The four of them leave the cell. Leading the way, the Red Ranger
halts before the portal arch. After a moment of reflection, he
turns to the rest of the team.]

Red Ranger : Here, take your Power Coins!

[He quickly transfers them from left hand to right. The Pink Ranger
takes hers with a happy "Whoo!". The Yellow Ranger retrieves hers
in silence. "Thanks!" comments the Blue Ranger as he grabs his own
Coin. And the Black Ranger takes his without a word.]

[One by one, the Rangers leap through the spoked archway - Pink,
Yellow, Blue, Black - causing it to ripple and distort as they
cross dimensions. The Red Ranger goes to follow ... and a
 gold-armoured hand clutches his ankle.]

Goldar : Not so fast, Red Ranger!

[The Red Ranger turns his head, staring at the gold warrior lying
 amidst the swirling mist.]

Goldar : Did you really think you'd get away so easily?

[The Red Ranger kicks Goldar aside - he falls back, clutching his
armoured torso - and then runs for the alcove, which draws him in.]

Goldar : [fiercely] My life is dedicated to destroying YOU!

[Back in the Command Center, Alpha is stationed at a control panel.]

Alpha : [excited] Zordon, the Rangers are free and on their way to
        the Command Center.

[Four beams of light bring Billy, Trini, Zack, and Kimberly into the
Command Center. All four are morphed and holding their helmets. They
look around, getting their bearings ... and noticing a particular
 absence.]

   Trini : Where's Jason?
Kimberly : What if he didn't make it?
Zordon : The portal to Zedd's Dimension has now closed. In order to
ensure your safety, Jason took the risk of being trapped.

[Somewhat anti-climactically, Jason teleports in.]

Jason : Hi, guys.

[Kimberly sighs with relief.]

Trini : Jason! [hugs him]
Alpha : Ai-yi-yi-yi-yi! You had me so worried.

[Jason hugs Alpha as well.]

Zordon : Welcome back, Jason. Once again, you have proven yourself
         to be a formidable leader.
Zack : You were awesome. [claps Jason's neck]

[Jason accepts the praise with a smile.]

Alpha : Look at the Viewing Globe! I've located Tommy.

[The Rangers turn to look, Kimberly quickly stepping to the front.]

[The Viewing Globe shows a lake and then reveals Tommy sitting by
himself on a quiet patch of grass, writing on a pad of paper. His
wardrobe - white clothes and brown jacket - reinforces the absence
of his powers, and yet shows him oddly at peace.]

[Tommy looks up for a moment, perhaps drawing inspiration from his
tranquil surroundings, and then returns to his writing.]

Kimberly : [tenderly] Look, I was right - he is up at the lake.
Billy : It looks like he's writing a letter.

[Cross to an aerial view of Tommy, a mild breeze rustling the leaves
above. Focus in on the former Green Ranger, who reads aloud as he
 composes his letter.]

Tommy : "Dear Jason,

I know this is a little late ... but I'm writing to you guys
to let you all know that I am okay." [sighs] "I miss you guys
a lot, but I need this time to get my head together.

Jase, go win that Golden Pipe Trophy for me. I know you can
do it. You're a winner; you always have been.

Look, I don't blame you for what happened. I never did. Just
keep your head together. The others depend on you. So do I.

We'll see each other again soon.

                                            Your friend,
                                               Tommy."

[As Tommy finishes, the shot changes to show him inside the Viewing
Globe again. Jason smiles, a great weight lifted from his shoulders.]

Jason : Let's go win that Tournament, guys.

[His self-confidence restored, Jason grips hands with Zack and then
Trini. Kimberly places her own upon his wrist.]

[Up in the Chamber of Command, Lord Zedd steps towards the Balcony.
Goldar stands to his left in the background, whilst Baboo and Squatt
 cower to the right.]

Lord Zedd : I don't understand it. The more I divide them, the more
they come together. I swear, I will find a way to destroy
them, even if I have to scour the entire galaxy!

[Later, Jason, Zack, Kimberly, and Billy approach the entrance to the
Youth Center. Jason is shirtless, in preparation for the Tournament.]

Kimberly : All right, Jason, go get 'em.

[Bulk and Skull have been waiting for them, the former holding a
packet of photos. Both stick out their hands in a 'halt' gesture.]

Bulk : Hold it!

[The Rangers stop. Zack looks mildly annoyed.]

Bulk : One of these pictures ... [Skull points to the packet] ...
proves conclusively that we were close to the Power Rangers.

[Jason folds his arms.]

Billy : Really?
Skull : Yeah, like he said.

[Skull takes the packet. Bulk chuckles and licks his upper lip.]

Skull : "Close to the Power Rangers!" What do you think of that, huh?

[The Rangers look mildly uncomfortable. Bulk and Skull chuckle. Bulk
eagerly points to the photos and then faces the Rangers again. Skull
 starts sifting through the packet.]

Bulk : It's the last one, bonehead.

[Skull finds the photo and holds it against his chest without looking
at it. Bulk favours the Rangers with a gloating grin, sniggering to
himself. Skull chuckles as well, savouring the moment, and then
reveals the photo, still without looking.]

[The photograph shows eggs falling from above and a hand flailing in
 the air. The Rangers laugh.]

Kimberly : Yeah. Nice nature shot, boys.

[Skull laughs, too ... and then looks at the photo. His face falls. As
the Rangers proceed into the Youth Center, Kimberly pats a shocked
Bulk on the arm. Jason claps Bulk on the back. Zack grasps his
shoulder and points to the photograph.]

Zack : Oh, that's a good one. [leaves, laughing]

[Bulk finally looks at the photo and gasps. Annoyed, he shoves Skull.]

Bulk : Egghead. [follows Skull]

[Cross to the interior of the Youth Center, briefly focusing on the
 Golden Pipe Trophy.]

Announcer : Our next contestant is Jason Lee Scott.

[Jason walks towards the performance mat, slapping hands with two
members of the cheering crowd. He passes Curtis and Richie, the
latter of whom gives him a pat on the back. Jason bows to the three
judges. Billy, Zack, and Kimberly applaud, joined a moment later by
 Richie.]

[Jason turns and walks out to the middle of the mat. He stops, turns
around, and bows again. With a concentration of mental energy, he
 begins his performance.]

[He strikes twice to the left, kicks, strikes again, then turns round
and kicks to the right, pausing in slightly crouched battle stance
with his right palm touched to his upper left arm.]

[He spin-kicks 360 degrees, performs a series of arm movements, rolls
across the floor(in slow motion), kicks straight up into the air,
gets to his feet, and twists back across the mat.]

[Jason's friends watch closely, Billy turning a brief glance towards
 Zack and/or Kimberly.]

[Jason front-kicks, spin-kicks, then turns and kicks to the right with
his left foot. He back-kicks with his right foot, high-kicks to the
right with the same foot, and touches his hands together in brief
 battle pose.]

[Stepping forward, he performs a high-kick followed by a spin-kick.
The middle judge writes something down. Jason performs three more
spin-kicks in a row, sweat glistening on his muscular frame, and
finishes in battle stance, uttering a loud cry. He draws his hands
across his chest and drops both in front.]

[The crowd applauds, particularly Kimberly, Billy, Zack, Richie, and
Curtis, the latter clapping his hands above his head. The middle
judge, as taciturn as his colleagues, folds his scoresheet and hands
it to the announcer, who carries it off-screen. Beside him, the left
judge brings his hands together in a single, almost token clap.]

[Jason passes his friends on his way to the judging panel, slapping
hands with a smiling Billy. All turn to watch him go, Curtis still
 applauding wildly.]

[Jason watches his friends with a happy smile and then returns his
attention to the trio of judges, all three of whom are openly
applauding. He bows to them once more.]

Announcer : And with that outstanding performance ...
 Kimberly : Yes!
Announcer : .. our judges have decided to present this year's
Golden Pipe Trophy to Jason Lee Scott!

[A lady steps through the crowd, carrying the trophy past Ernie and
up to Jason. She shakes his hand; he bows to her and reaches out to
accept his prize. Proudly, he holds the trophy above his head as the
 applause swells.]

Billy : Jason!

[He and Zack hoist Jason off the ground. In the background, Curtis and
Richie slap hands. Kimberly chuckles merrily.]

Jason : [triumphantly] This one's for you, Tommy, wherever you are!
        [happily] Yeah.

[End of episode.]
