Tommy's voice : Zordon, what is it?

[Tommy(now wearing gloves and a different jumper to that shown at the
 end of Part II), Billy(now wearing gloves and a beany), and Kat step
 up towards Zordon. To their right, Alpha is working at a control
 panel.]

 Tommy : Is everything okay?
Zordon : I am afraid not, Tommy. Are you all aware of what the
         greenhouse effect is?
 Billy : [slightly taken aback] Yeah. It's the warming of the Earth's
         atmosphere, due to increased levels of carbon dioxide in the
         air.
Zordon : Correct, Billy.
   Kat : Isn't that caused by Chlorofluorocarbons?
 Tanya : [from across the Chamber with Adam and Rocky] Yeah, and some
         scientists believe that the cutting of plants and trees are
         also adding to the problem.
  Adam : Both cause depletion of the Earth's ozone layer.
Zordon : You are all well informed.
 Rocky : [sceptically] But that can't be what's making it so hot
         around here. [pause] Can it?
Zordon : I am not certain. We are concerned, however. The temperatures
         in Angel Grove have risen well above historical records for
         five days straight. We fear King Mondo may be involved
         somehow.

[As Zordon speaks, the focus shifts from Rocky, who thoughtfully
 presses his tongue against the inside of his left cheek, to Tanya,
 who nods slightly, to Adam, and finally to Billy and Tommy.]

 Billy : Have you been able to pick up anything unusual on the Viewing
         System?
Zordon : Not yet. I hope that I am wrong about this. However, I wanted
         to be certain that you were aware of the possibility that we
         could be facing a serious battle in the near future.

[Focus in on Tommy.]

Tommy : Don't worry, Zordon. We'll be ready. [turns towards others]

[Cross over to a new location, opening with a brief shot of a rosebush
 growing against a white verandah railing. Lt Stone strolls across the
 verandah of what is evidently his house, thumbs hooked in belt, cap
 held in the crook of his right arm.]

Lt Stone : All right, boys. Now's your chance to do something for the
           home team.

[Lt Stone reaches Bulk, who is facing the street, saluting. Bulk turns
 towards him, ending the salute, and Skull finishes the same action as
 he comes into focus. All three are in police uniform.]

 Bulk : Just call us ready and willing, sir.
Skull : [rather hyped up] Yes. [points to himself] I'm ready,
        [points to Bulk] he's willing!

[Bulk smiles and nods, peers down at his chest, throws a quick look
 at Skull, and snaps his attention back to Lt Stone. Skull grins
 broadly.]

Lt Stone : Anyway; [walks down to garden] the Police Horticultural
           Society is having its final judging this afternoon, and
           well, [proudly] my American Beauties have never lost.

[Bulk chuckles and claps Skull on the shoulder. Skull grins and nods.]

    Bulk : [laying it on] I can see why, sir!
Lt Stone : [walking off-screen] While I'm on patrol, I'm going to
           entrust the care and protection of my flowers to the two
           of you.

[Skull bends down to smell one of the flowers...and accidentally yanks
 it off the bush! He and Bulk cry out in horror. As Lt Stone continues
 speaking off-screen, Skull crams the flower into Bulk's mouth. Bulk
 pushes it all the way in and closes up, hiding the evidence. Skull
 grins broadly: the picture of guilty innocence.]

Lt Stone : [off-screen] You both will be held responsible for all
           aspects of the garden's care, and-

[He finally turns back around, just missing the flowery subterfuge.]

Lt Stone : -I want you to stand watch over my garden and make sure
           nothing happens. You got it?
   Skull : You can count on us, sir! [grins]

[Bulk claps his hand upon Skull's right shoulder, chuckling through
 his mouthful of petals. Skull gives a thumbs-up, also chuckling.]

Lt Stone : Well, let's hope so.

[He walks over to a fertiliser sack and takes out a fistful.]

Lt Stone : [dangerously] Because if anything, anything, happens to my
           flowers, your careers won't be worth this fertiliser.

[Lt Stone stares at his hand, ominously sifting the fertiliser onto
 the lawn. Bulk and Skull watch uncomfortably, and the former suddenly
 snaps a salute.]

 Bulk : [muffled by petals] Yes, sir!
Skull : [also saluting] Yes, sir!

[Bulk and Skull exchange looks as Lt Stone marches away. They moan and
 start to buckle.]

[Cross to a sweeping shot of the Machine Empire Moonbase. Inside, King
 Mondo is watching the effects of Defoliator's mission on the circular
 viewing screen. It shows two images: a large sun dominating an orange
 sky, and some rapidly withering flowers.]

  Mondo : The Defoliator has begun to have a significant effect on the
          weather in Angel Grove. The temperature has risen another
          five degrees since yesterday!
Machina : [delighted] Soon, the Earthlings will be roasting like
          cornish hens!

[The Power Chamber is now displayed on the viewing screen.]

  Mondo : And the heat-shields to the Power Chamber will melt,
          rendering Zordon helpless. THEN we'll be rid of those
          brats, for good!
Machina : Who was it who said "I love it when a plan comes together."?
          [smugly] Oh, yes, it was -me-!

[Back in Lt Stone's garden, a more relaxed Bulk and Skull are getting
 down to work. Bulk waters one of the bushes as he speaks.]

 Bulk : Yep, Skull, this place is like the Fort Knox of flowers.
        Nobody gets in or out without going through us.
Skull : [nods] That's right. There's no way Lt Stone's gonna yell at
        us.

[They laugh companionably, wipe their brows(Bulk and Skull : Phew!!),
 and walk over to another part of the garden. As they go, Lt Stone's
 house number(31935) is clearly visible. Unfortunately, so too are
 the effects of Defoliator's handiwork: a branch droops on the bush
 that Bulk was watering, and the heart of its flower drops out.]

[Back at the ski resort, a more lightly dressed Tommy, Kat, and Billy
 have packed up ready to leave. Kat is holding her skis.]

Tommy : [simply] Well, guys, I guess that's the vacation.
Billy : [pats Tommy on the back] Tommy, we don't have to leave right
        away. Zordon'll contact us if he needs us.
  Kat : I'm sure Heather would like you to stay.

[Just then, Heather comes through the door, rolling up her sleeves.
 Her arrival catches the eye of an eager male fan.]

Fan : Heather! Can I have your autograph?

[As she starts to sign, Tommy addresses his friends.]

Tommy : Ah, it just wouldn't feel right being here, having fun. I
        mean, with everything happening in Angel Grove.

[Billy accepts this with a nod. Kat looks down at the floor, smiling
 to herself. Heather finishes signing another autograph, this time for
 a female fan(Heather : All right, there you go.), and notices Tommy,
 Kat, and Billy.]

Heather : Oh. [hurries over] Hey.

[Smiling, Billy nods to indicate Heather's arrival. Kat and Tommy, who
 have been facing him, turn towards her.]

    Kat : [smiles] Hi.
Heather : I heard you guys checked out. What's going on?
    Kat : [tactfully] Um, Billy and I'll get the rest of the bags.
          [pats Tommy's shoulder]
  Tommy : [softly] Okay, all right.

[Billy pats Tommy on the back again. Kat briefly touches Heather's
 right arm.]

    Kat : [to Heather] See ya.
Heather : Bye.

[Billy and Kat leave. Heather folds her arms as Tommy attempts to
 explain.]

Tommy : [with difficulty] Listen, Heather, look, we- [sighs] We have
        to leave town right away.

[Heather absorbs this silently. Tommy sighs again.]

  Tommy : I'm really sorry about dinner and everything.
Heather : [smiling] I don't understand; why do you have to leave so
          soon?
  Tommy : I just- I just wish I could explain. But I -can't-. Trust
          me, it's real important.

[He drops his hands from her folded arms. After a moment, she smiles
 and tries to play it down.]

Heather : You know, things happen; it's no big deal.
  Tommy : [regretfully] Yeah.
Heather : [seriously] It was really nice getting to know you.

[Tommy says nothing, smiling slightly. Heather softly kisses his right
 cheek.]

Heather : [with concealed upset] Maybe I'll see you round some time.
  Tommy : [softly] Yeah.
Heather : [finally] Okay.

[Heather leaves. Tommy watches her go, sighing to himself. Billy, who
 is walking backwards, and Kat rejoin him. Kat no longer has the skis
 she was holding before.]

Billy : She's really a great girl.
Tommy : Yeah, she sure is. [sighs] I feel bad leaving things like
        this. [sighs again]

[Kat glances at Tommy, a thoughtful expression on her face. Cross to
 an exterior shot of the Power Chamber under the glare of a bright
 sun.]

[Inside, Billy, who has taken off his jacket since returning from the
 snow, hurries towards Alpha, who is at one of the control panels.]

 Billy : Alpha, what's going on? Are you all right?
 Alpha : Ai-yi-yi, Billy! My circuits are really stressing. Something
         out there is causing this heat-wave, I know it, but every
         time I get it on the tracking system, I lose it!
Zordon : You must keep trying, Alpha. We have to find the culprit.
 Billy : [thoughtfully] Is there any way to increase the capacity on
         the central tracking unit?
 Alpha : Not without overloading the system. The heat outside is
         starting to wear down the heat-shields. We're down 20%
         already. We'll lose everything if this continues!
 Billy : Well, why don't we try to narrow the focus width? It'll see a
         smaller area, but we can increase the power to that area and
         lock on to the image.
 Alpha : Great idea! Billy, you're a genius.

[Billy pats Alpha on the back as the small robot starts working the
 control panel. He then turns to study the Viewing Globe. Judging by
 his expression and tone, the displayed image is not a pleasant one.]

Billy : Alpha, you better contact the others.
Alpha : Right, Billy. I'll send for them immediately! [pushes keypad]

[Back in Lt Stone's sweltering garden, Bulk and Skull are facing a
 wilted rosebush.]

Bulk : [brightly] This'll perk 'em up!

[He waters one of the flowers, and its heart falls out. Steam rises
 from the bush.]

 Bulk : [dismayed] Ohh..
Skull : [wipes brow and sighs] Bulk, do you speak Spanish?
 Bulk : A leetle. Why?
Skull : [wretchedly] Because I'm thinking Mexico might be the perfect
        place to hide when Lt Stone sees we killed all his prize
        roses!

[A more distant shot shows the ruined garden.]

Skull : [practicing] Ay caramba. Me lolama(?) es Skull.
 Bulk : [plucks a wilted flower] There's gotta be a way to fix 'em.
        [sniffs flower twice; his face lights up] Wait a minute! I
        just may have it. [turns towards Skull, holding up flower]

[The Zeo Rangers collectively teleport into the Power Chamber.]

[Kat and Tommy have taken off their beanies since returning from the
 snow. Tanya has pushed up her sleeves at some point, and Adam follows
 her example as he arrives: a concession to the rising heat. The five
 of them approach Billy and Alpha, both of whom are at the control
 panel shown previously.]

 Tommy : Hey, Billy, you figured out what's going on? [pulls jumper]
         Phew! 'cos things are really heating up out there.
Zordon : Rangers, King Mondo has created a Defoliator monster.

[Tommy and Billy look towards the Viewing Globe, which finally gives
 Defoliator an on-screen appearance. It shows a darkish six-legged
 arthropod equipped with strong-looking mandibles and horns. A long
 tubed section(like a tail) dangles from the right side of his back.]

[Like most monsters, Defoliator stands on two sturdy legs(as distinct
 from the six spidery ones attached to the sides of his body). A spine
 protrudes from each thigh. Although the scope is limited, one further
 detail is clear: at some point the laughing monster has grown(or been
 grown) to Zord-challenging size.]

[As Zordon explains further, the focus shifts from the Viewing Globe
 and pans across from Tanya to Adam. Adam looks towards Tanya and/or
 his fellow Rangers before turning back to the Viewing Globe.]

Zordon : The Defoliator monster is destroying hundreds of plants and
         trees; thereby, causing a greenhouse effect here in Angel
         Grove.
   Kat : We have to stop it.
 Billy : Unfortunately, it's expanded to full size, allowing it to
         cover a greater area of Angel Grove Forests.
 Rocky : We'd better call our Zords, then.
 Billy : [slight sigh] Good luck, guys.
 Tommy : All right.

[Billy turns away from the control panel, giving its top edge a single
 tap with his left hand. As if on cue, Tommy softly says "Right," and
 the Zeo Rangers step backwards. Billy leans back against the control
 panel, watching them.]

Tommy : It's Morphin' Time!

[With a flip of the wrists, Tommy summons his Zeonisers. The morphing
 devices, momentarily tinged with gold energy, send red star outlines
 flowing into his hands. He and a mostly off-screen Tanya are then
 shown bringing their Zeonisers together, their hands suffused with
 Ranger-coloured energy. The usual emission of bluish light is seen
 as the Morphing Sequence begins.]

  Kat : Zeo Ranger 1, Pink! [morphs into Zeo Ranger 1]
Tanya : Zeo Ranger 2, Yellow! [morphs into Zeo Ranger 2]
Rocky : Zeo Ranger 3, Blue! [morphs into Zeo Ranger 3]
 Adam : Zeo Ranger 4, Green! [morphs into Zeo Ranger 4]
Tommy : Zeo Ranger 5, Red! [morphs into Zeo Ranger 5]

[Focus upon the huge Defoliator again.]

[His exact surroundings are hard to pinpoint but could be near Angel
 Grove Forest(or the park). As the towering monster speaks, his tail
 comes properly into view, revealing a pointed tip. A twin tail is
 briefly glimpsed on his left side. Loops of pink cable connect the
 sides of Defoliator's head with his nose, and his face contains an
 encircled eye(on the left).]

Defoliator : Welcome to my winter harvest, Rangers!
   Rangers : Whoa! [to communicators] We need Zeo Zord Power now!

[As they speak, the Rangers raise their right arms to the sky. Circles
 of Ranger-coloured energy are dispersed, and the travelling Zeo Zords
 are briefly shown. When the focus shifts back to the Rangers, it can
 be seen that the sky has mysteriously changed from overcast to
 orange.]

Zeo Ranger 5 : Let's go!

[The Zeo Rangers bring their left wrists in front of their mouths, as 
 if communicating further(albeit briefly). They jump off the ground,
 transform into coloured energy(Zeo Ranger 1's is blue in this shot,
 not pink), and beam into their respective Zords.]

Zeo Ranger 5 : [appearing in Zeo Zord 5] All right!

[Zeo Zord 5 banks to the left.]

Zeo Ranger 5 : [holding Zeoniser Crystal] Zeoniser Crystal, Power Up!

[He inserts the Zeoniser Crystal in its slot, producing a beam of
 golden energy.]

Zeo Ranger 5 : Initiate Zeo Megazord Sequence!

[The components of the Zeo Megazord come together. Inside the cockpit,
 Zeo Ranger 5 is wasting no time.]

Zeo Ranger 5 : Zeo 5 Battle Helmet, activate! [activates control]

[The Zeo 5 Battle Helmet drops into place. Inside the cockpit, each of
 the Rangers performs a series of hand motions: crossing their fists,
 raising their open right hand whilst lowering their left, and finally
 dropping their right hand, too. Zeo Ranger 5 crosses his hands again
 during this last phase and speaks throughout the sequence.]

Zeo Ranger 5 : We have to keep him from doing any more defoliating!

[The Zeo Megazord enters battle stance against Defoliator; the clash
 takes place in the mountains just outside the city. A huge sun hangs
 in the background.]

[This shot gives a much clearer view of Defoliator, revealing features
 that were previously obscured. Additional spikes stick out the top of
 his body; a scorpion stinger, with horns of its own, protrudes from
 his back, and there is a pincer in place of his left hand. He opens
 and closes this pincer whilst taunting the Rangers.]

Defoliator : I pull weeds like you out by the roots!

[And with those bold words, Defoliator charges into the fray. The Zeo
 Megazord halts his attempted attack with its right arm, knocks him
 back slightly, and rains two blows upon him: right and left. Neither
 punch appears to have much effect on the monster, and he retaliates
 by butting his horns into the Zeo Megazord's chest.]

[Defoliator seizes hold of his tails(Defoliator : Take -this-!) and
 presses them against the Zeo Megazord, zapping it with electricity.]

Zeo Ranger 5 : [in cockpit] Whoa, this guy's tough!

[Sparks rock the Zeo Megazord's frame. It stands alone in this shot;
 Defoliator has apparently withdrawn.]

[Back in the Power Chamber, Alpha has lifted the cover of one of the
 smoking control panels. He releases it back into place.]

Alpha : Ai-yi-yi-yi-yi! Billy, the control panel is burning up!
Billy : [sweating] Our heat-shields aren't holding up. They've got to
        destroy the Defoliator or else this whole place is gonna burn
        up.

[Billy presses a button, winces from the heat, and pushes again. Alpha
 waves his hands at the smoke.]

[Back in the Zeo Megazord cockpit, Zeo Ranger 2 has taken the front
 seat.]

Zeo Ranger 2 : Zeo 2 Battle Helmet, activate! [activates control]

[The Zeo 2 Battle Helmet drops into place. It blasts yellow energy at
 Defoliator, who counters with blue fire from the scorpion stinger at
 his back. There is a brief flash of red as the bursts meet halfway.]

[The Battle Helmet fires again, hitting Defoliator. Yellowish smoke or
 dust accompanies the impact. As the monster cries out, the Megazord
 propels itself off the ground, flies over, and smashes him in the
 face with its right foot.]

[Zeo Ranger 1 has now taken the front seat.]

Zeo Ranger 1 : Zeo 1 Battle Helmet, activate! [activates control]

[The Zeo 1 Battle Helmet drops into place.]

Zeo Ranger 1 : How about a little windstorm?

[The Zeo Megazord spins around on the spot, unleashing pink energy. A
 burst of wind throws Defoliator to the ground.]

Zeo Ranger 1 : [in cockpit] One more then you're up, Tommy.

[The Zeo 1 Battle Helmet fires blue energy at Defoliator(now upright
 again), producing a cloud of pink dust or smoke on impact. He cries
 out as the blast strikes him.]

[Now wearing the Zeo 5 Battle Helmet once more, the Megazord readies
 its Saber.]

Defoliator : I'll mow you down, Rangers!

[The smoking monster initiates another charge. The Zeo Megazord steps
 forward, slashing him as he goes by. Defoliator cries out in pain.]

Defoliator : You can't stop Defoliator!

[The Zeo Megazord turns round to face Defoliator again. Inside the
 cockpit, Zeo Ranger 5 is back in the front seat, ready to finish
 the job.]

Zeo Ranger 5 : Let's turn him into fertiliser!

[The Zeo Megazord Saber charges up against the usual pyramid backdrop
 and cuts into Defoliator, producing a shining wound.]

[Golden energy crackles around him as he drops and explodes, and the
 Zeo Megazord stands triumphant before the enormous sun.]

[Despite appearing to explode a moment ago, the huge smoking monster
 is now shown lying on the ground in the outskirts of the city.]

Defoliator : [stricken] I'm withering!

[Charges of blue energy run through his body, and he shrinks to normal
 size. The Zeo Rangers come running up to investigate the motionless
 monster.]

Zeo Ranger 3 : Huh, another one bites the dust!
Zeo Ranger 2 : Yeah.
Zeo Ranger 1 : Hey, do you feel that? It's cooling down already!
Zeo Ranger 4 : Yeah, she's right!
Zeo Ranger 5 : [makes fist] Haha! Yes, we did it!

[And with that, the five of them run off...just missing a sinister
 burst of laughter as Defoliator moves his hand.]

*** - commercial break unpausing here; possible loss of establishing
      shot.

[Cross back to the Juice Bar, some time later. Believing things to be
 back to normal, Rocky and Adam have just finished a workout and are
 now approaching the counter. Rocky blots his face with a blue towel,
 and Adam dries his hands with a greenish one.]

[Tanya is at the counter, and Rocky taps her on the left shoulder as
 he arrives. The three Rangers are wearing the same clothes as seen
 in the Power Chamber, but Adam and Tanya have rolled their sleeves
 back down.]

[Ernie approaches with a tray of empty glasses. He places it on top of
 the counter as he speaks.]

Ernie : Man, I'm glad this is over. I mean, I love summer and all but
        not in the middle of winter!

[Rocky and Adam chuckle.]

Tanya : I know. And it's a good thing the Forest Service brought in so
        many trees to counteract the Defoliator's effect on the
        environment. [grins and chuckles]

[Rocky nods in agreement. Adam grins to himself. Just then, Billy and
 Kat arrive; the latter has changed her clothes at some point. Ernie
 nods to Tanya and wanders off to attend a customer. Kat and Billy
 smile and greet him as he goes by.]

 Kat : [to Ernie] Hey. [to others] Hey, guys. Have you seen Tommy?
Adam : [looking towards workout area] He's over there. He wanted to
       work out alone.

[Kat turns in that direction, concern etched on her face. She sees
 Tommy(also wearing different clothes) attacking the punching bag
 with intensity.]

Billy : I guess this Kimberly thing's still really bothering him, huh?

[Tommy finishes punching and stands there, upset.]

Kat : I know something that might take his mind off things.

[She turns to Ernie, who is now standing behind the counter.]

  Kat : Ernie, you're closing early to take inventory, aren't you?
Ernie : [nods] Yeah. Actually, I'll be in the back room counting pitas
        and pineapples all afternoon.
  Kat : [exhales, pleased] This might work out perfectly.

[Elsewhere, an apparently healed Defoliator is back on his feet.]

[The scorpion stinger at his back is now filled with spines that were
 either not present or concealed while he was enlarged.]

Defoliator : Angel Grove Forest is only the beginning. I'm here to
             destroy every plant in the whole WORLD!!! Hahahahaha!
             [runs off]

[Back in the Youth Center, Tommy throws a couple of extra punches at
 the punching bag. Ernie approaches with another envelope in hand.]

Ernie : Hey, Tommy. [holds up envelope addressed "Tommy"] This just
        came for you.
Tommy : [shaking head] Oh, no. No more letters for me. Thanks, anyway.
Ernie : It's good news. [nods head] Trust me.
Tommy : Yeah?

[Ernie nods again. Tommy takes the envelope.]

Tommy : All right, thanks.

[Ernie nods once more and leaves to attend a customer. Tommy opens the
 envelope and takes out a card with his name on the front. He begins
 reading aloud.]

Tommy : "Tommy. Your presence is requested at a formal dinner for
        two," [confused] "today at 'Chez Ernie',"? [more normally]
        "Please arrive promptly at five." [confused look]

[Later that day, an apron-clad Kat places a box of formal settings on
 top of an empty table in the closed Juice Bar. She drums her fingers
 against the side of the box and then presses the play button on a
 stereo. Music accompanies the following images as she sets the table
 for two.]

[Kat lays the tablecloth and places a pair of candles upon it.]

Singer : Summer is coming soon...

[She sets plates and cutlery.]

Singer : And we're gonna howl at the moon...

[A garland of flowers is placed around one of the candles.]

Singer : But that doesn't matter right now;

[A glass is set on the table.]

Singer : Cos we stand true...

[Kat adds a fourth roll to the breadbasket and covers it over with the
 pink cloth lining. The background song is now building up to a second
 verse(or chorus). As the moment of transition draws nigh, Kat strikes
 a match, smiling as she brings it down to light the candles.]

Singer : I want to hang out with my friends,
         Like you're supposed to do when you're seventeen...

[The camera pulls away from the lit candles, revealing a very strange
 thing. Although impossible, Kat has somehow managed to change into a
 pink formal dress, put on a necklace, and style her hair all in the
 space of these few seconds. She blows out the match.]

Singer : Spend all of my time with my friends,

[Kat straightens the glasses on the table.]

Singer : And dream of us in a magazine...

[The song fades away as a formally dressed Tommy rounds the corner and
 enters the room. His initially puzzled expression transforms into a
 smile.]
 

Tommy : Kat?
  Kat : [faces him, smiling] Ah, Mr Oliver, your table is ready.

[Tommy steps up to the table, still rather amazed.]

Tommy : Ah, I-I don't understand. You did all this?
  Kat : [a brief pause then, smiling] Please, be seated.
Tommy : [rather touched] Thanks.

[Tommy pushes back his chair and sits down; Kat presses her fingers
 together. Now that his initial surprise is over, Tommy begins to
 notice other things...]

Tommy : Kat ... why, you- you look amazing.

[Kat glows with pleasure ... and that's when Heather enters the room,
 wearing a light blue formal dress. She waves a greeting to Kat.]

Kat : [to Tommy] Oh, your dinner guest has arrived.

[Tommy again looks confused(and possibly a little hurt/disappointed as
 well, depending on one's personal interpretation.) Heather approaches
 the table; Tommy notices her and quickly stands up.]

  Tommy : [surprised] H-Heather!
Heather : [smiling] Surprised to see me?
  Tommy : Yeah, I mean...I don't get it.

[Kat lowers her eyes for a moment, suddenly silent. Heather comes to
 her rescue.]

Heather : Kat called me and said you could use some cheering up; so, I
          figured I'd give you one more chance. [holds up finger]
  Tommy : [pleased] Yeah.

[He gives Heather a smile and then looks at Kat again.]

  Kat : [smiling] Your dinner'll be out shortly.
Tommy : Yeah.

[Kat pulls Heather's chair out for her.]

Heather : Thanks.
  Tommy : Thanks.

[Heather sits down, her eyes fixed on Tommy. Kat exchanges looks with
 Tommy and turns to leave. Tommy exhales and sits down, giving Heather
 another smile. Heather laughs happily.]

[Some time later, Tanya and Kat are walking through a fairly isolated
 section of the city. Kat is wearing a dark jacket over her formal
 dress. As the girls speak, four people pass by on their right.]

  Kat : Well, Tommy and Heather should be enjoying their dinner.
Tanya : You know, that was really nice of you, Kat. [smiles]
  Kat : [somewhat deflated] I don't know if it was really nice or
        really stupid.
Tanya : What do you mean?

[Kat stops walking and turns to face Tanya, seemingly on the verge of
 elaborating; but then...]

Kat : Oh, forget it.

[The girls start walking again. Just then, a monstrous pointed foot
 steps into the foreground; Defoliator has found them. As he speaks,
 the nearby citizens panic and flee.]

Defoliator : Well, two little Ranger girls!
     Tanya : [loudly] Defoliator! I thought we got rid of you for
             good!
Defoliator : Thought I'd make like a tree and -leave-, did you? No
             such luck! [laughs]

[Kat and Tanya exchange looks, the latter making an angry sound.]

Defoliator : This is my opportunity to turn both of you into potting
             soil! [opens and closes pincer]
       Kat : Let's finish this once and for all.

[Kat and Tanya nod decisively to each other. Kat raises and crosses
 her wrists, producing a burst of pink energy, and thrusts her arms
 out to either side. Pink energy flows through her body and across
 her arms, discharging a circle of power as she brings her Zeonisers
 together. Tanya performs the same actions, with yellow energy.]

Kat : It's Morphin' Time!

[There is an emanation of blue light from the joined Zeonisers, and
 the Morphing Sequence begins.]

  Kat : Zeo Ranger 1, Pink! [morphs into Zeo Ranger 1]
Tanya : Zeo Ranger 2, Yellow! [morphs into Zeo Ranger 2]

[The Ranger girls go into battle stance(Both : Hyah! Tcha!).]

Defoliator : [sarcastically] Oh, you're scaring me!

[Defoliator charges into battle. Zeo Ranger 2 springs into the air and
 hits him in the face with a flying kick.]

Defoliator : [stumbling back] Whoaa!!

[Before the monster can recover, Zeo Ranger 1 lands another kick upon
 him. Defoliator retaliates with an electrical zap from his horns that
 throws the girls off-balance.]

[Defoliator charges again, shoving both Rangers. He lashes out at Zeo
 Ranger 1, knocking her down, and grabs Zeo Ranger 2 by the neck. The
 monster forces her around, reversing their original positions, and
 strikes her; she rolls awkwardly across the ground and falls back
 against a stone column. Zeo Ranger 1 is shoved against a similar
 column.]

[Zeo Ranger 2 launches another flying kick at Defoliator. As she makes
 the attempt, a sudden distant shot reveals the battleground: the top
 of a wide set of stairs. The focus hones back in on the combatants as
 the battle continues.]

[Defoliator knocks Zeo Ranger 2 down a few of the stairs. Zeo Ranger 1
 kicks and strikes the monster, who flings her aside without breaking
 a sweat. Zeo Ranger 2 gets up and advances upon their foe, only to be
 kicked back down again.]

[A weakened Zeo Ranger 1 valiantly rushes Defoliator, but before she
 can do anything, he restrains her arm and whacks her across the back
 with his pincer. She stumbles against the corner of the railing wall
 on the left side of the stairs and collapses.]

[These exchanges have brought all three combatants from the top of the
 stairs down to the next highest landing. On this platform, Zeo Ranger
 2 throws a couple of desperate kicks at Defoliator. He blocks her
 attack and then seizes her right shoulder in his pincer.]

Defoliator : Here's a shocker!

[Defoliator presses his right tail against Zeo Ranger 2, whom he is
 now holding by the neck. After zapping her with a short burst, he
 flings her away.]

Defoliator : [turning around] Your turn, Pinky!

[He grabs Zeo Ranger 1 around the neck, hauls her upright, and throws
 her down the stairs.]

Zeo Ranger 2 : Kat!

[Zeo Ranger 2 attempts to kick the gloating monster, but he proves too
 quick. Catching her foot, he throws her into the air, and despite the
 distance not matching up, she lands right at the bottom of the stairs
 next to Zeo Ranger 1. The girls get up and go into crouching stance.]

Zeo Ranger 2 : Call for help!
Zeo Ranger 1 : Yeah. [to communicator, urgently] This is Kat; we need
               help right away!
  Defoliator : [from above] They'll never get here in time!

[Cross back to Tommy and Heather's candlelight dinner. Their meal has
 begun and their glasses now contain orange juice.]

Heather : Did you miss me?
  Tommy : Yeah.

[Just at that moment, Adam and Rocky come through the door. The two of
 them have evidently come to fetch Tommy, whose communicator must not
 have gone off.]

Adam : [seeing the diners] Oh, -man-.

[Tommy takes a mouthful of food from his fork, not yet having detected
 the new arrivals. Heather is sitting with her back to them, so she
 hasn't noticed either.]

 Adam : [to Rocky] This isn't gonna go over well.
Rocky : Tell me about it.

[Tommy catches a glimpse of his team-mates and freezes. His eyes flick
 to and from Heather. Adam beckons urgently. Tommy stares at them, his
 eyes again darting to Heather. Sensing something amiss, Heather turns
 her head to see what's going on. Tommy tenses slightly.]

[Rocky and Adam wave to Heather, smiling guiltily. Adam shrugs.]

[An amused Heather waves back and turns to Tommy, intrigued.]

Tommy : [swallows food] Um...[guilty smile]

[Rocky points to his communicator and beckons urgently. Adam mouths
 for Tommy to come on. Tommy quietly acknowledges them and starts
 making his excuses to Heather.]

  Tommy : Look. [sighs] Oh, man, you're not gonna believe this; but,
          ah...I, ah...I gotta leave.
Heather : [chuckles, then more seriously] You're joking, right?
  Tommy : [unhappily] No, I'm sorry.
Heather : [sighs] Tommy, do you have any idea how long it took me to
          drive down here?
  Tommy : I know. [hurriedly] Look, l-l-I'll, I'll-I'll be right back,
          okay? [gets up] All right?

[Tommy fleetingly nudges Heather's right shoulder and hurries over to
 Rocky and Adam. He glances at her back one last time, and then the
 three of them are gone. Heather shakes her head, crushed by this
 latest abandonment.]

Heather : [softly] Man.

[Out in the city, Defoliator has caught up with his opponents, and the
 battle is continuing. He deals Zeo Ranger 1, who is standing again, a
 couple of smashing blows. She falls and rolls back through the grassy
 area where the three of them are now located.]

[Defoliator laughs as Zeo Ranger 2 runs up to attack him. He catches
 her arm with his pincer, knees her into the air, and cuts across her
 body with the spines in his scorpion stinger. She rolls over on the
 grass, unable to stand. Once again, he laughs mockingly.]

[Clutching her side, Zeo Ranger 1 staggers over to Zeo Ranger 2.]

Defoliator : Is this the best you can do, Ranger pansies?

[Zeo Ranger 2 is crouching unsteadily, holding her right shoulder. Zeo
 Ranger 1 touches Zeo Ranger 2's shoulder and back.]

Zeo Ranger 1 : Tanya, you all right?
Zeo Ranger 2 : [nods] Yeah. [stands with knees bent]

[Defoliator laughs and zaps at them with a blast from his horns. Cries
 ring out from behind the explosion, but when the smoke clears, Zeo
 Rangers 1 and 2 are no longer alone. From left to right, Zeo Rangers
 4, 5, and 3 are now standing in front.]

[The three newly arrived Rangers run towards the monster, giving space
 to their injured team-mates.]

Zeo Ranger 5 : Let's put this creep out to pasture!

[The Rangers strike battle pose.]

Defoliator : Just try it, Rangers!

[Between shots, Zeo Rangers 1 and 2 have moved closer to the others.]

Zeo Ranger 5 : You should've stayed down while you had the chance,
               Defoliator! [clenches fist] Let's get him!

[Zeo Rangers 3 and 4 spring towards Defoliator, fists outstretched. He
 repels them with ease, and they crash to the ground, face-up. Both of
 them turn over, watching the others.]

Zeo Ranger 4 : Go for it, Tommy!

[Defoliator laughs and advances upon Zeo Ranger 5, throwing a kick. It
 misses, and Zeo Ranger 5 retaliates with one of his own: a spinning
 attack which hits the monster but barely fazes him. When he tries to
 follow up with a chop, Defoliator snares the descending hand in his
 pincer and flips him onto the grass. The downed Ranger clutches his
 torso with both hands.]

[Defoliator leaps over Zeo Ranger 5 and charges towards the weakened
 Ranger girls. He shoves them against a wall and then flips them back
 overhead. They roll towards the male Rangers, all three of whom are
 now looking somewhat the worse for wear. Zeo Ranger 5 is standing,
 albeit unsteadily, whilst Zeo Rangers 3 and 4 are crouching. As the
 girls roll, Zeo Ranger 3 pulls himself up. Defoliator laughs and
 turns around to face them.]

Defoliator : Now, back to my defoliating mission! When I'm finished,
             there won't be a single green leaf left on Earth! Haha!

[Cross rather suddenly to Zordon in the Power Chamber.]

Zordon : We cannot risk Defoliator growing again. We have to stop him
         now.
 Billy : [looking towards Viewing Globe] I've adjusted the Zeo Blaster
         to maximise the Command Center's power cells. It's their only
         hope. [pushes buttons; speaks through transmitter] Tommy, did
         you get that? [looks towards Viewing Globe again]

Zeo Ranger 5's voice : We read you, Billy. The Zeo Blaster's just what
                       we need.

[Billy smiles and nods slightly. He looks towards Alpha and then turns
 back to the Viewing Globe.]

[Cross back to the battle, which has continued while the Power Chamber
 scene was taking place. Zeo Ranger 5 picks himself up and side-steps
 along with the others, all of them facing Defoliator. The Rangers are
 now in rough V-formation(from left to right: 4, 1, 5, 2, 3).]

Zeo Ranger 5 : All right, Defoliator. You're history!

[The five of them go into battle stance. Defoliator's only response is
 a burst of sarcastic laughter.]

Zeo Ranger 5 : Let's do it, guys! [a pause] Zeo Blaster! [makes fist]
     Rangers : [making fists] Power Up!
Zeo Ranger 5 : Pull it together, everyone!

[Zeo Ranger 5 is now holding the Zeo Blaster: a device formed from the
 combined Zeo Weapons(similar to the Power Blaster). As he aims it at
 Defoliator, the other Rangers fall into position. Zeo Rangers 1 and 2
 join their hands to Zeo Ranger 5's sides and back. Zeo Rangers 3 and
 4 similarly link themselves to Zeo Rangers 1 and 2, as if to channel
 their collective energies. The surrounding terrain has mysteriously
 changed from grassy to stony, the sky from overcast to blue.]

[Zeo Ranger 5 shifts his footing(along with Zeo Rangers 1 and 2) and
 calls a command.]

Zeo Ranger 5 : Fire!

[The Zeo Blaster explodes into action, accompanied by five bursts of
 Ranger-coloured smoke. A gold energy ball soars towards Defoliator,
 whose surroundings no longer match those of the Rangers, and a fiery
 diagonal blast cuts him down. With the monster finally defeated, the
 Rangers separate and celebrate.]

Rangers : Yeah!

[Zeo Ranger 2 jumps up, punching the air and laughing happily.]

Zeo Ranger 4 : Yes! [chuckles]
Zeo Ranger 5 : [satisfied] Looks like we uprooted Defoliator for good!

[Cross back to Lt Stone's garden, some time later. Bulk, Skull, and Lt
 Stone are standing by whilst four judges(three female, one male) from
 the Police Horticultural Society inspect the flowers. Whatever Bulk
 has done to fix them seems to be working...thus far. Not suspecting
 a thing, the proud Lieutenant touches the visor of his cap and then
 straightens his tie.]

Lt Stone : Gentlemen, you're about to witness a truly great moment.
           [raises eyebrows for emphasis]

[After inspecting a bush, one of the judges gets a strange look on her
 face. As she moves away, the camera pans in on Bulk and Skull. They
 exchange rather tense nods, attempting to reassure each other that
 their plan is going to work. Bulk ventures a smile.]

[Unfortunately, it looks like they've been rumbled. The aforementioned
 judge crosses off the sheet of paper on her clipboard and approaches
 Lt Stone, who is smiling in anticipation...]

Judge : Very nice. Unfortunately, we don't have a category for
        -artificial- flora. You are disqualified, Lieutenant.

[Bulk looks at Skull and jerks his head to one side, indicating that
 now might be a good time for them to disappear. Skull nods in swift
 agreement, and the amateur gardeners begin edging away.]

[Having delivered her verdict, the judge sighs and walks off without
 another word. Deeply shocked, Lt Stone struggles for words, but his
 half-formed protests fall upon deaf ears. The other judges leave the
 garden of #31935, one of them giving the occupant a pitying look as
 she goes.]

Lt Stone : Disqualifi- I don't...but...how? I-I don't understan-

[And then the only possible explanation dawns upon him. He slowly
 turns towards Bulk and Skull, both of whom are still edging away.]

Lt Stone : [sternly] Hold it!

[The wretched duo freeze and edge back again. Lt Stone fixes them with
 his glare and then approaches one of the suspicious rose bushes.]

 Bulk : [to Skull] Well, I guess we didn't exactly come out smelling
        like roses, did we?
Skull : Yeah, that's a good one, Bulky. Smelling like roses.

[Bulk and Skull laugh loudly at this gallows-humour but without their
 usual high spirits; big trouble is imminent, and they know it.]

[With another glance at his guilty officers, Lt Stone reaches down and
 pulls up the bush; sure enough, it's attached to a wooden board. He
 shakes off the dirt and takes a look at the underside, which contains
 a label and has the price($1.59) scrawled in black.]

[Lt Stone carries the bush over to Bulk and Skull, who cringe before
 him, smiling nervously. Bulk plucks the label off the board, and the
 two of them try to laugh. Realising that Lt Stone is not seeing the
 funny side, Bulk sobers up and throws away the label. Skull, on the
 other hand, continues to grin.]

Lt Stone : That's it; laugh it up, boys. Enjoy it while you can.

[Skull happily obliges.]

Lt Stone : I want you two to stand here until I can think of a
           punishment for the both of you.

[Skull gapes in shock. Bulk starts to shake his head but then nods
 resignedly.]

Lt Stone : [tightly] Don't move a muscle.

[Bulk and Skull freeze, the latter still gaping. Lt Stone stalks off.]

Bulk : [low, trying to speak without moving a muscle] How far did you
       say it was to Mexico?

[Skull shifts his eyes towards Bulk and subtly shakes his head, also
 trying to minimise movement. Of course, this means that Bulk can't
 see what he's doing...]

 Bulk : [turning head] Huh?
Skull : [quietly] Ssh!
 Bulk : [simultaneously] Oh! [locks back into place]
Skull : You moved a muscle! [increasingly distressed] Oh, no, I moved-
        OH, man, I moved- AH!!

[Bulk's facial muscles are heavily taxed as he struggles to keep from
 laughing.]

[Over in the Juice Bar, a downcast Tommy is sitting back at his table,
 slowly running his thumb around the edge of his glass. The candles
 have burned low, the dinner has been cleared away, and Heather has
 gone. It is Kat who now sits opposite him, resting her chin on her
 hands. Soft music is playing in the background.]

  Kat : I'm sorry things didn't work out, Tommy. I wanted everything
        to be perfect.
Tommy : Ah, just forget it, Kat. I mean, what you did was incredible.

[Kat smiles slightly, momentarily lowering her eyes.]

Tommy : I'm just really lucky to have a friend like you.
  Kat : I just thought it would help take your mind off things if you
        had someone in your life.
Tommy : I know. It's just gonna take some time, that's all.

[Kat nods understandingly, again with a slight smile. Her expression
 suddenly brightens as the background song catches her attention.]

Singer : Talk to me...
   Kat : Oh, I love this song.
 Tommy : [smiling] Hey. What would you say if I asked you to dance?

[Kat beams back at him, also chuckling as she stands. Focus in upon
 the nearly spent candles.]

Singer : Whisper softly in my ears, "You've got a home..."

[Fade over to Tommy and Kat. Smiling, they touch hands and begin to
 slowly dance.]

Singer : When you're near, you've got a hoooooommmmmmmmmme...

[Tommy and Kat look into each other's eyes and then rest their heads
 upon each other's shoulders. As they dance, Tommy looks very sad, no
 doubt recalling memories of another Pink Ranger in a now bygone era.]

Singer : Hold me tight, and look at meee through the night. Whisper
         softly, "Everything's all right, you've got a home."

[Ernie comes in from the back room and puts a box of produce on the
 counter. He notices Tommy and Kat and smiles, touched.]

Ernie : [to himself] I love happy endings.

[He takes a piece of fruit from the box and slips away. Unaware of the
 interruption, Tommy and Kat continue their solemn dance: an ending
 perhaps more aptly named, bittersweet.]

Singer : When you're near, you've got a home.

[End of episode.]

14) Bulk : [weird voice] No-no-no-no! I have no budget for myself!

Scene : Lt Stone's verandah. Featuring Bulk and Skull.

15) Bulk plucks the flower out of his mouth. He and Skull start to
    laugh.

Scene : The Youth Center work-out area. Featuring Adam.

16) Adam throws punches at the camera, sticking out his tongue.
17) Voice : Cut!
18) Adam laughs as he continues punching.
