| Perhaps the most misunderstood of all of the inner senshi, Kino Makoto is a headstrong, independent, strong willed young woman. She is tough with a violent streak, and often fights before she thinks. She is the tallest of the inner senshi, towering over all scouts (except for Uranus, who is taller), and because of her size (not to mention her temper) many people are intimidated and afraid of her. |
| She feels that her size makes her less feminine, so many times overcompensates, by dressing "ultra-fem" and taking up traditional feminine interests, like cleaning, cooking and shopping, at which she excels. She is also rather boy crazy, putting to rest any beliefs that she might be a lesbian (even though Mako was attracted to Haruka, it was when she thought Haruka was a man. Once Makoto learned the truth about Haruka's true gender, the attraction turned to innocent admiration.) |
| When she first comes to Jubaan High School, most of the other students avoid her because of the rumour that she was kicked out of her old school for fighting. However, rumours that she is a nasty violent person all of the time do not hold true...she becomes a very close friend to all of the scouts, giving them all lots of advice and support. |
| Part of Mako-chan's aggression is due to her tragic background. She was scarred for life when her parents were killed in a plane crash when she was only a child. Adding to this the fact that she is larger than most other girls, and was probably teased about her size, it is easy to see how Mako became "tough" (I can relate, because I was always taller than the other girls in my school, and got consistently teased about my size. To stop the teasing, I started fighting back against the people who were mean to me!) |
