NITPICKING
I admire Phil Farrand greatly, and I have nothing but the utmost respect for many of his insights. In 1997 he came out with a book for the X-Files entitled; The Nitpicker's Guide to the X-Files. In this book, he poked and prodded the episodes of the first four seasons of the show. If you haven't picked it up yet, please do so. I've copied an essay called; "Whose Truth Is Out There?" with an addendum concerning Revelations. It's very informative and explains a lot of the seeming inconsistencies regarding Mulder and Scully characterizations. For the rest of this page I'm borrowing his model to continue the nitpicking. If you have any nits you'd like to share, please e-mail me.

Season 7   [Season 5]   [Season 6]   [Season 8]   [Season 9]

Hungry:

Date: Fall of 1999, weeks (months?) after Amor Fati as Mulder's air is covering any scar he might have from brain surgery.

On Screen Locations:

Summary: A young man named Rob Roberts disguises his true appearance with prosthetics, but he cannot contain his hunger for human brains. He wants to live a normal life, but his craving doesn't allow him to fit in. When a body turns up in a lake with a Lucky Boy pin, our daring duo arrive on the scene. Rob tries everything from self help tapes to talking to shrinks to going to an overeaters meeting. Unfortunately, none of this helps, and with Mulder poking around Rob finally slips up and leaves a clue on his latest victim, his kindly next door neighbor. In an attempt to flee the area, he reveals his true self to his docotor, who sympatheically croons her empathy for him. Scully and Mulder burst in and Rob allows his true nature to take over, and rushes the pair. Mulder shoots, and Rob dies, happy to have come to terms with himself.
