Tag Lines changes in the X-Files

The normal Tag Line on the X-Files is 'The Truth Is Out There' and
it appears during the opening credits. When an important event 
occurs, the Tag Line changes. Here are the changes: 

     The Erlenmeyer Flask - Trust No One

	Deep Throat says this to Scully on the bridge as he's
	dying.

     Ascension - Deny Everything

	X says this to Mulder in the hall of Sen. Matheson's 
	congressional office. The line is "They (the people behind
	Scully's abduction) only have one policy, deny 
	everything."

     Anasazi - EL 'AANIGOO 'AHOOT'E

	Navajo for The truth is out there.

     731 - Apology is Policy

	Scully has stumbled across evidence that the government 
	was conducting experiment's on the homeless and diseased.
	The government's answer to the discoveries was a public 
	apology. In a conversation with Mulder she tells him, 
	"Don't you see, Mulder? You're doing their work for them.
	You're chasing aliens that aren't there, helping them to 
	create a story to cover the shameful truth... and what 
	they can't cover, they apologize for. Apology has become 
	policy.

     Herrenvolk - Everything Dies

	This line was spoken by the Bounty Hunter to Mulder, as 
	Mulder is begging for the life of Jeremiah Smith.

     Teliko - Deceive, Inveigle, Obfuscate

	This line was used twice by Scully and once by Mulder.
	S-"Mulder, not everything is a labyrinth of dark 
	conspiracy, and not everybody is plotting to deceive, 
	inveigle and obfuscate." M-(To S)"To find someone who I 
	know plotted to deceive, inveigle, and obfuscate." S-
	(voice over, typing into her journal) <Snipped Dialog>
	"But what science may never be able to explain is our 
	ineffable fear of the alien among us; a fear which often 
	drives us not to search for understanding, but to deceive,
	inveigle, and obfuscate. To obscure the truth not only 
	from others, but from ourselves."

     Terma - E Pur Si Muove

	Latin for "But it does move." A quote from Galileo to the 
	inquisition. He was on trial for heresy, because he 
	advocated that the planets (and the earth) revolved 
	around the sun. Not the other way around.

     Gethsemane - Believe the Lie

	Scully hypothesizes that it's easier for Mulder to believe
	in little green men than it is to believe that his 
	theories have been wrong all this time. The line is, 
	"Because it's easier to believe the lie. Isn't it?"

     Redux - All Lies Lead to the Truth

	Scully spits this line at Skinner. She has lied for Mulder
	here and she believes that Skinner (as well as others at 
	the FBI) have been lying to her (them) all along. The line
	is, "All lies lead to the truth, isn't that right?"

     The Red and the Black - Resist or Serve

	Krychek uses this line on Mulder, as he's trying to get 
	his help. WMM sent him in the hopes of retrieving the 
	Rebel pilot. The line is, " Kazakhstan, Skyland Mountain,
	the site in Pennsylvania. They're all alien lighthouses 
	where the colonization will begin, but where now, a battle
	is being waged. A struggle for heaven and earth. Where 
	there is one law: fight or die. And one rule: resist or 
	serve."
  
     The End - The End

	Well, with the X-Files office in charred ruins and our 
	heroes reassigned, it looks like this might be the End of
	the X-Files (yea-right!)

     Triangle - Die Wahrheit ist Irgendwo da Draussen

	German for The Truth is Out There Somewhere. Obviously a 
	play on 'Somewhere, over the rainbow.' since this is 
	Carter's homage to the Wizard of Oz.

     The Unnatural - In the Big Inning

	Um, just a little play on words- In the beginning, the first words of
        the bible. Equating Baseball with life.


     The Sixth Extinction II: Amor Fati - Amor Fati

	Amor Fati is latin for love of Fate.  A term used by Neiztsche.

     Closure - Believe to Understand

	I guess this is Chris Carter's attempt at telling us that this is
	really what happened to Samantha. (Until he decides otherwise.)

     Nothing Important Happened Today II- Nothing Important Happened Today
	
	July 4, 1776, King George the Third wrote in his diary these very words.
	He was too far remove from the colonies to realize he was wrong.

     4D- The Truth is out there (right to left as if in a mirror)	
	
	The perceptions can change depending on where your vantage point is.

     Trustno1- They're watching

	Scully painfully learns that the powers that be are always watching. Every
	move she and Mulder made was documented in audio, video and still pictures. 

     Improbable- Dio Ti Amo

	Italian for God Loves You.
