Lucy starts to come to terms with why Belinda's decision has
affected her so much. Alex continues to keep his feelings over
his new job a secret from Monique. Eve has trouble adjusting to

Alex helps Kate make a momentous decision. The birth of Belinda's
baby has a big effect on Lucy. Cheree refuses to be pushed

Alex starts at the "focus free" photo shop and realises
that it's not what he thought it would be, while Monique
struggles to keep her concerns regarding Alex's job to herself.
Lucy begins her journey of self discovery and is amazed at what
she finds. George comes looking for Belinda and Terri updates him
on her progress….and then he hightails it out of Breakers.
Jack finds himself in hot water on his first solo job.

Lucy endeavours to discover her true self after the humiliating
treatment she received from Simon. Alex applies for a full time
job at a fast photo lab in the hope of providing stability for
his family. Steve's gorgeous new flatmate turns out to be not
quite what he had hoped for.

Simon starts Lucy on a path to self-realisation giving her new
confidence with his attention and then he does the exact thing
she feared all along, he leaves. He was only interested in the
chase. Kate does a lot of soul searching in making her decision
on whether or not to go to England with Tim and start her life
over. Steve's search for a new flatmate is more difficult than he
imagined.

Reuben makes Fiona and Vince realise that including the street
kids in their film could be a big plus. Kate and Tim rekindle
their old romance and Tim asks Kate to go back to England with
him. Lucy loses her nerve when she and Simon strip for the art
class.

With Jack's help Terri comes to realise what an awesome
responsibility she is shouldering in supporting Belinda. Kate and
Tim examine the possibility of finally considering a future for
themselves as a couple. Vince and Fiona realise they have a long
way to go before convincing either Steve or Paul that their short
film idea is worth pursuing.

Kate regains consciousness. She recalls some memories of what has
been said to her, but not everything-everyone is excited that
she's back out of the coma. Tim offers Danny some money for his
business idea but Eve forces Danny to reject the offer. Vince and
Fiona find out how difficult it is to make a film.

Belinda discovers she is far more pregnant than she thought.
Xanthe tells Boris their relationship is over due to Boris'
inability to share emotional depth with her. Kate wakes from her
coma, with Tim by her side.

Steve makes the move into Paul's grubby old apartment and bonds
with paul in the process. Belinda confronts the truth about her
pregnancy with Terri's support, but can't bring herself to go
ahead with the check up at the hospital. Cheree agres to pose
nude with Simon for an art class after Lucy declines the
invitation. This frustrates Lucy no end due to her increasing
attraction towards Simon.

Steve, Eve and Paul lay the ghosts of their history to rest,
resulting in Steve moving in to Paul's old apartment. Lucy's
battle with Eve over Simon results in Lucy starting to ask
questions about the way in which she looks at the world. Reuben
finds a new maturity and self-confidence through his relationship
with Brooke.

Reuben and Brooke's relationship naturally becomes more intimate.
With the disappointment of his re-voicing ringing in his ears,
Vince decides to get serious about his career. Xanthe begins to
put her problems into perspective.

Xanthe is incredibly hurt when she forces Boris to admit there
will never be real intimacy between them. Vince's ad goes to air
and he is disappointed when he realises his voice has been dubbed
over. Brooke and Reuben recognise the depth of their mutal
attraction.

Steve tries to help a pregnant schoolgirl. Xanthe is having
trouble with Boris. Simon steps up his campaign to woo Lucy.
Brooke invites herself to dinner with Reuben.

Kate is rushed to hospital with a sub-dural haematoma. Jack feels
responsible for Kate's condition. Tim and Steve clash over Kate's
affections.

Xanthe's enjoyment of the wedding is ruined by Boris' need for
her not to cramp his style. Time comes to the realisation he'd be
better off without Jane. Alex and Monique, the centre of
attention, wait good-naturedly but with increasing impatience, to
finally be alone together. Although it seems Kate might have had
one too many, she's actually falling victim to a sub-dural
haematoma and needs to be hospitalised.

Alex avoids telling his father the truth about Jane and how she
tried to seduce him when he was in England—but Tim guesses
anyway. Boris almost doesn't make the wedding when he's
distracted by Xanthe's underwear. The wedding takes place.

Alex's fears are confirmed when he learns Jane hasn't changed her
ways. Paul, Steve and Boris manage to pull off an unexpectedly
fantastic buck's night. Boris learns of Xanthe's respect for his
emotional space.

Alex's father arrives with an unexpected surprise. Xanthe feels
like her life is crumbling away. Cheree is outraged when she
discovers Eve has gone behind her back.

Xanthe is accused of vandalism. Jack finds himself in a
compromising situation. The results of the Haga Awards are out—how
has Cheree fared?

Jack and Terri have a disagreement over the significance of the
ring she has bought for him. Reuben confirms his growing
attraction to Brooke after he is reassured that her feelins for
him are genuine. Despite his best efforts Vince's ad turns into a
nightmare. Under growing pressure from Eve and Paul, Danny
finally comes up with a scheme to make some money to pay board.

Xanthe suspects all is not well with her relationship with Boris.
Over a special dinner to celebrate Vince's ad, Reuben's
relationship with Brooke becomes closer. Cheree reassures Lucy
that she is not alone in having turmoil in her private life.

Alex and Monique have a disagreement over their honeymoon. Paul
insists that Danny pay his board. Xanthe strays in after spending
all night in a park. Fiona is upset over the way Xanthe treated

Kate makes a speedy recovery in hospital to finalise arrangements
for Monique's hens party. And, there's a surprise act booked for
the night that turns the event into something none of them will
ever forget. Lucy faces a new world without Kelly, while Xanthe

Andrew and Lucy's moments alone end in a quick kiss and lingering
embrace that takes them by surprise and threatens Lucy's
relationship with Kelly. Luke's mother, Carrie arrives and Cheree
is convinced she'll never see the boy show loves again. Kate
begins to feel marginalised when Alex not only accepts his
father's offer of paying for the wedding, but also tells Kate
that Tim will be flying out from London to be his best man.

Terri's pregnancy ends in a late period. Lucy has time alone with
Andrew and tries to keep her perspective.
When Cheree seeks Steve's advice on Luke, Luke accuses Cheree of

Terri's pregnancy threatens to destroy her relationship with
Jack. Fiona's commitment to Sean's cause sees her drawn into the
looming likelihood of radical (illegal) social action. Xanthe
makes the mistake of letting Fiona in on her secret affair with
Boris.

Fiona becomes more deeply entangled with Sean's politics, and
Terri uses the debate as a distraction from her worries. Lucy
catches Eve discriminating against her, and is thrown into new
temptation with Andrew through Kelly's innocence. Boris and
Xanthe enjoy their secret liaison.

Terri and Jack stress about the possibility of Terri being
pregnant. Lucy is attracted to Kelly's brother.
Boris tells Xanthe he is not interested in a relationship—and
is surprised by her reaction.

Monique and Alex's wedding plans go awry. Jack is shocked to
learn the real reason behind Terri's bad mood. Luke uses
emotional blackmail on Cheree.

Whilst Cheree is powerless to stop the tide of depression that
swamps Luke, she is there for him in a way she never imagined.
Reuben's beginning to think he's over counselling; Steve has
other ideas. Alex and Monique get honest about getting married.
Kate's had enough of the Dave and Mary situation, so she sorts it
out once and for all.

Alex and Monique discover that their decision to marry leads to
all kinds of differences and power struggles. Fiona's social
conscience is pricked. Kate realises that Dave is still
emotionally attached to his family—including his ex-wife
Mary. Paul agonizes over the outcome of an investigation by the
Tax Department and eventually has to 'fess up to Kate.

Boris is trying to get Reuben to deal with the fact that he
wanted to kill himself. Fiona's efforts pay off when, with
Vince's help, her fashion parade dreams are realised. Alex plans
the most romantic proposal of all time—but will he have the
courage to ask Monique when the moment arises?

Alex decides that he'd like to marry Monique, but is unsure
exactly how to go about it. He does however begin the process of
engagement. Xanthe is upset by the fallout from the newspaper
article—she loses her advertising endorsements, but Boris
takes her mind off it. Fiona is barely coping with the
organisation of the fashion parade and when Vince tries to assist
he ends up making things much worse.

Eve is unimpressed with Luke's hostage stunt, but when she reads
the new chapter of Cheree'' book, she becomes concerned that
Cheree and Luke's relationship is entering a new and potentially
life threatening stage. Xanthe's decision to preempt the drung's
hearing by forcing Fiona to publically admit her role in the
affair backfires when the newspaper story comes out against her.
Jack's big night at the CD launch isn't all he expects and he
learns a few of the harsh realities of trying to make it in the
pop music business.
APRIL 1999
Ep 297 (30/4/99)
Lucy is in anguish about how public she's prepared to be with
Kelly, when her response to a moment of emotional need answers
the question for her. In talking to Paul about the post-Dave
situation, Kate expresses interest in Steve as a friend. Paul
seeds the idea that there might be something more than friendship
available. Kate dismisses the possibility that she and Steve
havea future. Luke's attempts to prove to Cheree that Eve really
does care about her get out of hand when a joke hostage situation
backfires and Cheree ends up worse off than ever.
Ep 296 (29/4/99)
Lucy and Kelly are comfortable when they're together on their
own, but after Eve warns Lucy about the effect their relationship
might have on advertisers, Lucy becomes wary of public displays
of affection. Cheree is increasingly infatuated with Luke, but
realises she's ignoring Reuben at a time when he needs support.
Luke supports her in a decision to make more of an effort with
Reuben which makes Cheree love Luke even more. Reuben is adamant
he's ok but everyone is concerned he's in denial and not dealing
with his udnerlying problems. Boris offers a circuit breaker by
taking him away on a camping trip. Cathy goes to ATT ostensibly
looking for her father, which leads to a confrontation between
first Cathy and Kate and then, when Mary, Cathy's mother arrives,
Kate has to deal with more suspicion and animosity.
Ep 295 (28/4/99)
Repercussions of Luke hitting Steve are felt throughout Breakers
and Steve is pressed by Dave to call the police….he rings
the hospital instead. Cheree and Luke reach a new level of
understanding in their relationship. Alex and Monique grow more
confident with the impending birth of the new baby….Kate
does the ring test and it could be a boy.

Fiona tells Xanthe she's the one who drugged her drink. Steve
attempts to reach out to Luke—and gets a punch in the nose
for his trouble. Reuben goes back to work.

Danny persuades Terri to help him finish with Tanya, but the plan

re-instate Kelly. Monique goes to see a clairvoyant. Alex is

closeness leads to sexual passion. Monique negotiates a lucrative
promotional deal for Xanthe, only to learn that Xanthe has tested
positive for drugs and may be suspended from competition.

barney. Vince resorts to desperate measures to retrieve his keys.

Monique makes the difficult decision not to go out on her own.
Xanthe's illness helps bring her closer to Karen. Terri and Jack
take the first steps to getting back together. Boris balls out
Fiona for teasing him about Xanthe. Danny realises he doesn't

Lucy is in turmoil, trying to both understand and represss her
sexual desire for Kelly. Tanya and Danny sneak a date, but Terri
catches them in bed. Fiona continues to tease Boris about Xanthe.

Reuben makes peace with Steve and Cheree and meets his manic
room-mate, Luke. Is Cheree growing too dependent on Eve's
motherly affection? Lucy and Kelly's relationship takes a leap

Reuben begins the slow and painful journey back from the brink.
Danny defies parental sanctions to keep his rendezvous with
Tanya. Cheree is dreading the thought of visiting Reuben in the
"Loony Bin."

Finding none of his friends receptive to his needs, Reuben is
driven to the edge of the gap. Kate tells Dave it's over, and
this time she means it. Cheree realises too late the urgency of
Reuben's cry for help.

Jack calls off his relationship with Terri, from now on they are
just going to be friends. Terri is upset and shocked when she
later learns her tutor has gone behind her back to speak with
Jack. Lucy presents Reuben with an ultimatum to get his act
together. Reuben mistakes Cheree's friendship for something more
and ruins everything between them. Kate and Dave fail to connect
leaving Kate depressed and unsure where they are headed. Lucy and
Kelly cement their friendship over a glass of wine.

Danny faces the wrath of Tanya's father after being caught doing
the wild thing with her. Terri and Jack's off again on again
romance strikes further trouble. Terri's tutor becomes embroiled
in her student's love life and makes friends with Lucy. Monique
begins to think about quitting BMS and Fiona has a great idea
about a new show.

Danny and Tanya do the wild thing…and get caught. Karen
tells Xanthe to take a modelling course and advises Monique to
dump Paul and set up on her own. A grateful Fiona wants to pay
Boris back for helping her through the City to Surf, so she gives
him some advice on his love life.
Ep 276 (1/4/99)
Paul decides to run with Danny in an attempt to bond with Danny.
Xanthe feels pressured by Karen to do well but realises her best
may never be good enough. Boris runs the City to Surf to
encourage Fiona when she's ready to give up. Reuben blames
himself when he finds out that Delia has died after taking drugs
she bought with his money.
MARCH 1999
Ep 275 (31/3/99)
Kate gets her hopes up when Dave proposes they remain
"Friends", only to be dashed when she realises he
literally means just that. Fiona is determined to go in the City
to Surf despite Boris's deeply concerns for her health and
safety. Xanthe infuriates Boris when she cuts his column. Reuben
gives money to Delia, with dire consequences. Jack finds himself
wishing he'd never 'fessed up to Terri.
Ep 274 (30/3/99)
Reuben's attempt to help out an old street mate, backfires and he
is left feeling more and more rejected. Steve speaks to Dave
about Kate and then tries unsuccessfully to convince Kate that
Dave is wrong for her. Jack admits kissing Andie. Terri is
furious and tells Jack she doesn't want to see him anymore.

Kelly brings an element of fun to Terri's study. Danny goes on
his first date with Tanya. Jack seems to be getting too close for
comfort with Andie.

Jack finds himself in a compromising situation with an attractive
Bondi FM DJ - much to Paul's surprise. Bryan advises Xanthe not
to run in the city to surf. Alex takes Karen's advice much to
Monique's disappointment. Danny falls for Tanya.
Ep 271 (25/3/99)
Alex – together with a violent storm – helps Monique
unpack some of the emotional baggage she's been carrying with her
mother and sister.

Terri's new tutor intrigues and engages all who meet her. Losing
her temper with Eve seems to pay dividends for Lucy.
Mother/daughter relations between the Fairbairn women leave Alex
in the middle of a pressure-cooker situation that's about to
explode!

Karen inspects BMS and, just as Monique feared, can't help
interfering. Terri arranges for Jack to see Andie, a DJ on Bondi
radio, but is dismayed to discover Andie is an attractive young
woman with an eye for more than musical talent. Danny meets Tanya
again and discovers that she has a "reputation".
Ep 268 (22/3/99)
Jack gets his CDs – now all he and Terri have to do is sell
them. Eve announces that Terri is getting a tutor. It's Danny's
16th birthday and Chubby's sassy daughter Tanya turns up at the
party despite Paul making it clear she's not welcome. Kate begs
Dave to reconsider his decision to end their relationship for her
sake. Cheree persuades Reuben to come to Danny's party with
disastrous results.

Steve is at the centre of a hostage situation. Dave realises it's
time to tell Kate the truth about his problems. Lucy will do
whatever it takes to get the deputy editor's job at the paper.

Monique is suspicious when her mother suddenly arrives in town.
Reuben tries to make his peace with Kate, but only makes things
worse between them. Kate asks Dave to move in with her - and is
unsettled by his reaction.v
Ep 265 (17/3/99)
Monique had reached the end of her tether with Xanthe but they
have almost reconciled when they learn their mother is coming to
stay. Vince doesn't know how to deal with Fiona's epilepsy. And
Boris fears it may be too dangerous having her around his
kitchen. Cheree challenges Eve to "come out" and write
part of the book with her, while their confabs fuel Lucy's
paranoia about Maggie's job
Ep 264 (16/3/99)
Lily's terrible secret has thrown Steve into a spin and he says
he needs time to work out how he feels. Steve has been forced to
notify DOCS about Titch's situation at home and that only seems
to drive Steve and Lily further apart. Monique returns from
visiting her mother only to find that Alex has told Xanthe she
can keep Samson the cat. Monique puts her foot down. The cat has
to go. Paul arranges for Vince and Fiona to dance at Chubby's.
This is their big break. The performance is a spectacular
success, but ends in drama when Fiona collapses with an epileptic
fit.

Jack and Terri finally get their day in the recording studio.
Reuben's good samaritan act of giving Delia a place to stay the
night backfires when she steals Lucy's walkman. Dave's gambling
addiction is clearly out of control. Lily and Steve's
relationship has hit crisis point but nothing can prepare him for
the terrible secret Titch is about to reveal.

Boris tries everything to stop Jack from wasting his inheritance.
Reuben is smitten by a new street kid on the block. Dave blows
all the money Kate lent him on a horse.

The Simmons family finally make a decision about Paul moving back
in. Xanthe learns Monique and Alex have been deceiving her. Karen
accepts the news of Monique's pregnancy with mixed feelings.

Paul asks Eve if he can move back into the apartment. Monique
goes to visit her mother and makes Alex promise he won't tell
Xanthe. Dave borrows money from Kate and manages to resist
Reuben's attempts at provocation

Lucy and Xanthe have words over Lucy stealing the article.
Monique is annoyed at Xanthe and Alex tells her it's time to
speak up or shut up. Dave is having a bad run on the horses.
Paul's day at the hotel goes from bad to worse as Danny arrives
– he's lost his job.

Steve lets his head rule his heart over Lily. Lucy is so keen to
impress Eve she double-crosses Xanthe. Paul's plans for a
romantic break with Eve take a wrong turn. Danny is getting
impatient with his bandages.

When Kate discovers Fiona is epileptic, Fiona wants her to keep
it a secret, but Kate is unsure what to do. Phil is furious when
he discovers Lily and Steve are intimate. After trying to sway
Jack about the catering business, Boris grudgingly accepts Jack's
decision to make a CD.

Money proves to be the root of all conflict, when Boris and Terri
reveal competing dreams for Jack's inheritance. Steve and Lily
journey towards a sexual relationship, but they both discover
Lily's forte is seduction, not intimacy. Fiona loses her fight to
keep her epilepsy a secret.

Terri is responsible for Jack and Boris' falling out over their
inheritance. Maggie and Eve have difficulty making their
farewells on Maggie's final day. Lily's eating patterns are
making Steve increasingly suspicious.

Tension between Monique and Xanthe builds. Maggie is devastated
by Eve's insensitivity. Boris and Jack are stunned by the
contents of their father's will.

Danny gets Lucy into a passionate clinch. Steve's interest in

productive day with Lucy. Reuben's lousy day gets even worse.

Reuben's situation goes from bad to worse when he thinks his
friends are abandoning him and he quits his job. Kate has her
first major disagreement with Dave over Reuben, but their
relationship survives. Steve is becoming more impressed with the
attractive Lily when she demonstrates her insight at ATT. Monique
realises that Alex is finally growing up and admits she doesn't
want him to move out.

Reuben's attitude to Steve and Dave puts him in danger of
being charged with assault. Vince is torn between his loyalty to
Reuben and his loyalty to his new friend Bruno. Lily has a plan
to spend more time with Steve.

Vince is stalked by Joey and his gang, intent on violence.
Eve tries to entice Maggie to stay at the newspaper. Terri's

Danny deals with guilt about taking Jaime's money by roping
Paul into his dilemma. Lucy creates havoc in Geoff's life. Her
schemes backfire when she attacks his car with a screwdriver. Eve
persuades Cheree to go back home to collect a precious clock.

Geoff confronts Lucy about the prank calls he's been
receiving. Eve realises working with Cheree is going to be much
harder than expected. Old feelings are brought to the fore when
Eve sees Steve with Lily. Danny confesses to Dave he stole the
money. Dave is confronted with his gambling addiction.

Vince feels left out. Reuben battles with Dave. Steve is
deeply concerned for Titch's welfare.

Eve's Uncle Ron proves to be a problem. Terri and Jack loosen
up a little. Vince is threatened by a gang.
Ep 242 (12/2/99)
Terri and Jack return from their big night out where, it
seems, all was not hearts and flowers. Alex and Monique start
bonding over their baby, despite Boris dropping in. Maggie,
primed by a boastful Lucy, makes a strong bid to steal the
"go-girl" job from under her nose. Geoff suspects Lucy
is behind the nuisance calls and his car tyres being let down.
Ep 241 (11/2/99)
Boris helps Alex come to terms with Lara's death and his
recurring nightmare. Kate helps Monique accept her pregnancy and
feel she now has a future to look forward to. Lucy's desire for
Geoff starts driving her towards extreme behaviour.
Ep 240 (10/2/99)
Jack and Terri take a momentous step forward in their
relationship. Danny's first day in his new job ends up as
successful as he thought it was going to be disastrous. Lucy's
paranoia proves the death-knell to her relationship with Geoff.
Eve offers Cheree a challenge and finds it rebounding in a way
she never anticipated.
Ep 239 (9/2/99)
Danny gets an interview for a job but Eve insists he wears a
suit. Steve tries to get to the root of Titch's problems. Lucy's
gone power mad and Maggie is suffering, but she finds an
opportunity for revenge. Terri complains to Boris about Jack's
insensitivity which leads to him to plan a "grand romantic
gesture".

With Monique still not coping, Eve steps in and takes over to
give her a break. Maggie fumes as Lucy makes a power play at the
newspaper. Reuben tells Steve he's had enough of being criticised
and he's looking for work elsewhere. Titch, a small kid with big
problems turns up at ATT.

Alex feels the pressure of keeping Monique's secret, and
crumbles. Vince and Bruno share an intimate moment. Lucy grows
suspicious of Geoff's colleague Chris.

Alex is concerned that Moniques's options for the baby might
not include him. Kate and Dave have a romantic night…
sweeping the floors. Vince is confused by Bruno's comments when
he hits the bottle. Steve reprimands Reuben over Bruno's drinking
at an impromptu party at ATT.

When Alex tries to get through to Monique about how he's
feeling, she hits him with a stunning revelation. Paul does his
best to help Terri and Jack. Lucy infuriates Maggie when she
suggests Lucy is jealous of her relationship with Geoff. Lucy
gets a surprise when she meets Geoff's work partner, Chris.

Steve finds it hard to forgive Reuben for getting into
trouble over the escaped teenagers. Jack suspects there's more to
his sacking than meets the eye. Boris and Fiona nearly ruin the
'top tucker' review.
