Instead of killing Yin Ba San to avenge his master's death, Wong Kei Ying elected to spare him. Despite this Yin Ba San attempted to ambush Wong Kei Ying when he was not looking, but he was killed by Miu Chek Fung. Many days latter Tin Wai Lam still felt guilty and responsible for killing Lok Ah Choi. She wanted to reveal the truth to Wong Kei Ying but her mother told her not to. Instead she attempted to comfort Wong Kei Ying and help him learn the Bak Fung Kin, passed on by Lok Ah Choi.

With the death of Lok Ah Choi, the Wong family invited the Tin family to stay with them so that Tin Wai Lam could comfort Wong Kei Ying. Many days later Miu Chek Fung decided to see Tin Wai Lam. He suggested that Tin Wai Lam become his student, in order to get revenge for Master Tin. Miu Chek Fung told Tin Wai Lam that he would only accept being defeated with his own kung fu and it was up to her to learn it. After a consultation with Wong Kei Ying, Yin Wai Lam agreed to learn kung fu from Miu Chek Fung. Each day she practices fiercely often injuring her own legs. Wong Kei Ying would then talk with Tin Wai Lam to settle her down, and instructed her not to practice too hard. Meanwhile Magistrate Mong, instructs his follower Sin Yee to establish the White Lotus Cult. In order to prevent others from investigating his criminal activity, Magistrate Mong used the White Lotus Cult to divert other government officials attention. The White Lotus Cult began to grow in size by selling a potion containing opium, which supposedly gave people more strength. Song Yee Mun uncovered what was in the potion and attempted to warn the locals, but no one would listen. Wong Kei Ying, Tit Kiu Sam and Tin Wai Lam then decided to investigate the location of the White Lotus Cult and expose their opium trade.

At once they came across Sin Yee the leader of the White Lotus Cult. She was very powerful, and as they fought Tin Wai Lam was injured by her poison palm. Wong Kei Ying and Tin Wai Lam managed to retreat to an old house. Their Tin Wai Lam was about to die, until Wong Kie Ying decided to suck the poison out of her system. He himself became poisoned, and a poison snake approached them. Realizing that he would die with his true love Wong Kei Ying was satisfied and did not fear death. Sin Yee stood outside the house and was touched by Wong Kei Ying's love for Tin Wai Lam. She decided to give the cure to Wong Kei Ying, so that he would survive. When Wong Kei Ying woke he thought that it was fate that allowed him and Tin Wai Lam to live. They left and returned home to heal their injuries. Sin Yee had fallen in love with Wong Kei Ying and watched him secretly in the evenings. Later Magistrate Mong got news that Magistrate Sing was destined for Guangdong to investigate eliminate the White Lotus Cult. He immediately ordered Sin Yee to pursue and kill Magistrate Sing. Song Jan Hong was worried about the safety of Magistrate Sing and invited Wong Kei Ying and Tit Kiu Sam to help escort him safely to Guangdong. Sin Yee failed as Wong Kei Ying helped Magistrate Sing into Guangdong. Magistrate Sing then assumed the identify as the third uncle of Wong Kei Ying, and continued to investigate the White Lotus Cult.

Magistrate Mong was unpleased with Sin Yee's failure to kill Magistrate Sing, but he guessed that Wong Kei Ying was involved. Sin Yee thought of a plan, which would allow her to enter the Wong family to kill Magistrate Sing. She pretended to be captured by the White Lotus Cult. Wong Kei Ying heard the call for help and rushed to rescue her. Once at the Wong family house she played on the kind nature of Tin Wai Lam and Wong Kei Ying, who allowed her to stay at the house. There she uncovered Magistrate Sing, but she did not make a move because she wanted Wong Kei Ying. One night she drugged and slept with Wong Kei Ying, causing some problems for Wong Kei Ying and Tin Wai Lam. Meanwhile Tin Wai Lam continued to practice kung fu with Miu Chek Fung. At first she thought that Miu Chek Fung would not teach her real kung fu, but as time past she began to trust him. One day Tin Wai Lam ran into elder classmate Jiu Leung, and made him explain her farther's death in full. Jiu Leung told Tin Wai Lam that her farther was a cheat, and that Miu Chek Fung did not steal their family fortune it was him. At once Tin Wai Lam, was overwhelmed with disbelief. She then sought to find the truth from Wong Kei Ying who told her the same thing. Now it became clear as to why Wong Kei Ying prevented her from killing Miu Chek Fung and why Miu Chek Fung wanted to teach her kung fu. Her mother did not believe Tin Wai Lam however and still blamed the death of Master Tin on Miu Chek Fung.

Later Wong Kei Ying told Sin Yee that he loved Tin Wai Lam only, to prevent her from pressuring him to marry her. At once she became outraged and sought to kill Tin Wai Lam. She attacked Tin Wai Lam when she was practicing kung fu. Tin Wai Lam managed to evade many blows until Miu Chek Fung arrived and fought with Sin Yee. Miu Chek Fung suffered a heavy blow to the body and died of Sin Yee's poison palm. Before his death he landed a blow which heavily injured Sin Yee and made her run for her life. When she recovered from her injuries, Magistrate Mong ordered Sin Yee to kill Magistrate Sing immediately. A masked Sin Yee returned to the Wong family and attacked Magistrate Sing. Wong Kei Ying arrived and protected Magistrate Sing, but he was no match for Sin Yee. She could have taken his life but held the blow back before escaping. At once Wong Kei Ying knew who the masked female was. He went and saw Sin Yee who admitted that she was the leader of the White Lotus Cult and was the one who attacked Magistrate Sing. Sin Yee then asked Wong Kei Ying to marry her. In return she would reveal the identity of the person behind the chain of crimes. At once Wong Kei Ying refused, but Magistrate Sing forced him to accept the proposal, so he could solve the crime. Wong Kei Ying then told his parents of his plan to marry Sin Yee. They were shocked, along with Tin Wai Lam and Song Yee Mun. The Tin family immediately moved out and went back to live at Song Yee Mun's house. Wong Kei Ying wanted to tell Tin Wai Lam the truth but there was nothing that he could do.

One the evening of their marriage Sin Yee attempted to force Wong Kei Ying to return to the White Lotus Cult with her. Wong Kei Ying refused and they fought, Magistrate Sing's men arrived to lend Wong Kei Ying a hand. Sin Yee then felt betrayed by Wong Kei Ying and later captured Magistrate Sing and Tin Wai Lam's mother to force Wong Kei Ying to return by her side. Wong Kei Ying arrived with help Tin Wai Lam and Tit Kiu Sam. Wong Kei Ying had blended his Bak Fu Kin and Hoi San Kin successfully at Shaolin with Tin Wai Lam. He was now ready to duel of with Sin Yee. At once they battled, as Tin Wai Lam rescued her mother and Tit Kiu Sam rescued Magistrate Song. During the battle Sin Yee turned her attention to the Tin family, and managed to knock both Tin Wai Lam and her mother over the edge of the mountain. She then blinded Wong Kei Ying with white powder. Despite being unable to see, Wong Kei Ying, still managed to defeat Sin Yee, who then ran for her life. Now that the White Lotus Cult was temporary defeated, Wong Kei Ying wandered along the beach to search for Tin Wai Lam. He found her hairpin on the ground and thought that she was dead. He stood looking at the shore for many days without food. Finally Song Yee Mun arrived, and with help from the wise Shaolin monk was able to persuade Wong Kei Ying to eat some food. Slowly Wong Kei Ying regained his purpose and grasp on life. Tin Wai Lam had been saved by an old couple in a nearby village. Her legs had been broken by the fall, so she did not want Wong Kei Ying to she her in that state. She decided to stay with the old couple until she was healed.

Magistrate Mong was less than happy with Sin Yee who had failed and betrayed him. He attempted to kill Sin Yee, but she managed to escape to Wong Kei Ying's house. There she placed a book of evidence amongst the Wong ancestor name plarks. Wong Kei Ying located her in the garden. Before her death she requested Wong Kei Ying to put her name on a plark alongside the Wong family ancestors. There Wong Kei Ying would find that she kept her side of the bargain. Wong Kei Ying refused however and Sin Yee died of the injuries she suffered during the battle with Magistrate Mong. As time passed Wong Kei Ying, Song Yee Mun and Tit Kiu Sam, all combined forces to open a school, to help villagers read and protect themselves. Song Yee Mun taught people how to read and write whilst Wong Kei Ying and Tit Kiu Sam taught people how to fight. Soon they went to nearby villages to promote their schools. As fate would have it Wong Kei Ying and Song Yee Mun visited the fishing village were Tin Wai Lam had been saved. Instead of greeting her friends Tin Wai Lam decided to hide. Song Yee Mun came across Tin Wai Lam when she went back to get her handbag from the villagers hut. At once she wanted to call out to Wong Kei Ying, but Tin Wai Lam begged her not to. Tin Wai Lam also made Song Yee Mun promise not to reveal her location to Wong Kei Ying. Song Yee Mun agreed on the condition that Tin Wai Lam allowed her to attempt to heal her legs.

As time went on Song Yee Mun slowly healed Tin Wai Lam, who began to be able to walk once more. But as the days grew Song Yee Mun felt uncomfortable hiding Tin Wai Lam's location from Wong Kei Ying. Soon Wong Kei Ying would find out that Song Yee Mun's servant had plark made for Tin Wai Lam's mother and not Tin Wai Lam. At once he realized that Tin Wai Lam must still be alive. He then rushed over to see Song Yee Mun and demanded an explanation. When she refused to tell him the location of Tin Wai Lam Wong Kei Ying became furious. He accused her of doing it deliberately. Finally Song Yee Mun told Wong Kei Ying were Tin Wai Lam was located. Happy Wong Kei Ying rushed and found Tin Wai Lam lying on the floor. Tin Wai Lam told him to leave immediately, but he refused. Even after discovering that Tin Wai Lam's legs had been broken, Wong Kei Ying still wanted her to leave with him. Tin Wai Lam refused to leave with him stating that her broken legs would hinder their relationship. At once Wong Kei Ying made an attempt to break his own legs so that they could be together. Suddenly Tin Wai Lam managed to walk hurriedly over to stop Wong Kei Ying from breaking his legs. Finally they were together once more because Tin Wai Lam's legs had been healed. Wong Kei Ying then made his apologies to Song Yee Mun because he had mistaken her intentions. Song Yee Mun did not take Wong Kei Ying's accusations to heart and they remained close friends.

Having finally found Tin Wai Lam, Wong Kei Ying wanted to make sure that they would never part again. He decided to propose to marry Tin Wai Lam on his birthday. Wong Kei Ying then went on about how he would send his master Lok Ah Choi a red egg on his birthday, and now that he had died Tin Wai Lam was the recipient. Before accepting the proposal Tin Wai Lam took Wong Kei Ying, to Lok Ah Choi's burial and confessed her involvement in the death of Lok Ah Choi. She asked Wong Kei Ying for forgiveness, but Wong Kei Ying became outraged and left stating that he could not forgive her. When Magistrate Sing had to leave Gaungdong, Wong Kei Ying, elected to go along with Tit Kiu Sam to protect him. This gave him the opportunity to escape from Tin Wai Lam. After protecting Magistrate Sing from another attack from bandits hired by Magistrate Mong, Wong Kei Ying was persuaded to return to Guangdong to see Tin Wai Lam. Song Yee Mun and Magistrate Sing managed to make Wong Kei Ying lighten up and forgive Tin Wai Lam. By the time he returned to Guangdong it was already too late, Tin Wai Lam had left. Wong Kei Ying and Song Yee Mun then rushed to search for her, but Tin Wai Lam did not want to be found. Wong Kei Ying did not give up however and continued to search for her. Tin Wai Lam returned to the fishing village and protected them against a group of thugs who wanted to force them out. During the battle Tin Wai Lam was blinded by white powder, but was saved by her elder classmate Mr. Cheung Seng Hong. He was happy to see Tin Wai Lam and made his feelings known to her. Tin Wai Lam rejected Cheung Seng Hong's love. Despite this Cheung Seng Hong agreed to help out the fishing community.

Many days later Wong Kei Ying located Tin Wai Lam at the fishing village. He immediately told Tin Wai Lam that he had forgiven her and still wanted to marry her. Despite this Tin Wai Lam refused to go with Wong Kei Ying stated that she could not forgive herself. She ran away and decided to hide in Cheung Seng Hong's house. At the house Cheung Seng Hong informed Wong Kei Ying that Tin Wai Lam was his fiancé and they were due to marry soon. This shocked Wong Kei Ying, but Tin Wai Lam came into the room and went along with the lie. Wong Kei Ying was left stunned and shocked. Many days later Cheung Seng Hong invited personal friend Magistrate Mong to oversea their wedding. Tin Wai Lam went ahead with the marriage despite having regrets and she did not love Cheung Seng Hong. She refused to sleep with her husband on the night of their marriage. Soon Cheung Seng Hong and Magistrate Mong sought to deal with Wong Kei Ying. First Cheung Seng Hong wanted to kill Wong Kei Ying with brute force. He decided to challenge Wong Kei Ying to a duel over Tin Wai Lam. Wong Kei Ying accepted the duel. On the day of the duel, Cheung Seng Hong attempted to drug Tin Wai Lam so she could not attend the contest. In the middle of the contest Cheung Seng Hong then tricked Wong Kei Ying into thinking that Tin Wai Lam was very ill. At once Wong Kei Ying became distracted, and was taking heavy blows to the body.

Suddenly Song Yee Mun arrived with Tin Wai Lam. Upon seeing that Tin Wai Lam was in good condition, Wong Kei Ying, easily defeated Cheung Seng Hong and knocked him off the platform. Cheung Seng Hong admitted defeat and pretended to be a graceful looser. Having lost to Wong Kei Ying, Cheung Seng Hong worked on a different plan. He wanted to gain Wong Kei Ying's trust and was successful at that. He overheard that Wong Kei Ying was due to pick up a shipment of goods from Magistrate Sing. Cheung Seng Hong then passed this information to Magistrate Mong who changed the cargo to rifles. Magistrate Wu was then sent to capture Wong Kei Ying but he managed to escape. Magistrate Mong then captured Wong Kei Ying's parents and the Song family to force Wong Kei Ying out of hiding. Wong Kei Ying appeared and sought the release of his family and friends. Magistrate Mong agreed to let them go after Cheung Seng Hong added some good words for Wong Kei Ying. Magistrate Mong locked Wong Kei Ying up. Meanwhile Cheung Seng Hong tries to Tin Wai Lam's heart by pretending to think of plans to help free Wong Kei Ying. Many days later when Wong Kei Ying was being transferred, Tit Kiu Sam returned from Magistrate Sing's orders and attempted to save Wong Kei Ying. Tin Wai Lam wore a masked and aided Tit Kiu Sam who was able to carry Wong Kei Ying to safety.

They boarded a boat as Song Jan Hong and Song Yee Mun attempted to transfer Wong Kei Ying to safety. Magistrate Wu gave chase and discovered Song Jan Hong who attempt to prevent him from searching the boat. Magistrate Wu became angry and kicked Song Jan Hong to the chest. At once Wong Kei Ying and Tit Kiu Sam emerged from the boat and fought with Magistrate Wu's men. Having defeated Magistrate Wu's men, the group found rest at an old house. Song Jan Hong was in a critical condition. Before dying Song Jan Hong requested Wong Kei Ying to take care of Song Yee Mun. Wong Kei Ying agreed and Song Jan Hong died. They then buried him nearby, and days later Song Yee Mun became sick morning her farther's death. Wong Kei Ying then went back to the Wong family house to pick medicine for Song Yee Mun. There he found the book of evidence hidden by Sin Yee behind the ancestor name plark. Wong Kei Ying then sought the help of Tin Wai Lam to locate a safe place where they could Song Yee Mun to heal. Tin Wai Lam trusted Cheung Seng Hong and told him the location of Wong Kei Ying, and requested his help. At once Cheung Seng Hong revealed this information to Magistrate Mong, who sent soldiers to capture Wong Kei Ying. Surrounded by soldiers Wong Kei Ying ordered Tit Kiu Sam to escape through the back entrance with Song Yee Mun. Wong Kei Ying went to the front of the house to single handedly deal with the soldiers. A masked Cheung Seng Hong arrived to try and take Wong Kei Ying's life but he was unsuccessful. Shortly after a masked Tin Wai Lam also arrived and fought with the masked Cheung Seng Hong. At once Cheung Seng Hong took off upon seeing Tin Wai Lam, but it was too late she had already guessed who the masked man was.

Meanwhile Lord Seven arrived in Gaungdong to investigate the identity of the man behind various crimes. Cheung Seng Hong attempted to trick Tin Wai Lam into telling Wong Kei Ying to hand the book of evidence over to him so that he could give it to Lord Seven. On the surface Tin Wai Lam seemed to have fallen for the plan until she discovered the black clothes worn by Cheung Seng Hong many days earlier. Wong Kei Ying agreed to go to see Lord Seven with Cheung Seng Hong who planned an ambush for him. Magistrate Mong appeared instead of Lord Seven, and Cheung Seng Hong then told Wong Kei Ying to prepare for his death. Suddenly Lord Seven appeared with the book of evidence protected by Tin Wai Lam and Tit Kiu Sam. Magistrate Mong had been exposed and now Lord Seven wanted to place him under arrest. At once Magistrate Mong used his eagle claw and killed Lord Seven. He would frame Wong Kei Ying for the death and ordered his men to capture him. Cheung Seng Hong attacked Wong Kei Ying whilst Tit Kiu Sam and Tin Wai Lam fought with Magistrate Mong. During the battle Cheung Seng Hong used a knife at the bottom of his shoes to try and kill Wong Kei Ying. One of his kicks missed and Wong Kei Ying grabbed his shoes and pushed it against his forehead. The knife struck Cheung Seng Hong in the head and he died immediately. Tin Wai Lam suffered a heavy injury to the leg in her battle with Magistrate Mong. Wong Kei Ying arrived to help her and they managed to escapee when Tit Kiu Sam grabbed Magistrate Mong by the legs.

Many days later Wong Kei Ying heard the news that Magistrate Mong would kill his parents and Tit Kiu Sam in three days unless he showed up. In the next few days Wong Kei Ying would practice his kung fu with Tin Wai Lam as they attempted to merge Lok Ah Choi's kung fu with Miu Chek Fung's kung fu. In two days they were semi-successful. Finally they day arrived and Wong Kei Ying showed up to prevent his parents from being killed. Together with Tin Wai Lam, they challenged Magistrate Mong to a duel. They fought on a high tower, and Magistrate Mong was too strong. After many moves Wong Kei Ying and Tin Wai Lam were forced to the muddy ground heavily injured by Magistrate Mong's eagle claw. By some stroke of luck, Wong Kei Ying's body had been covered by the mud, which made Magistrate's eagle claw ineffective. At once Wong Kei Ying and Tin Wai Lam combined their forces and killed Magistrate Mong who could no longer use his kung fu to block their blows. Having killed Magistrate Mong, Wong Kei Ying became a hero as Magistrate Sing arrived to release him and set him free. The crowd chanted and congratulated Wong Kei Ying. Tin Wai Lam took this opportunity to leave knowing that Wong Kei Ying was due to marry Song Yee Mun.

Eventually Wong Kei Ying did marry Song Yee Mun, however he still loved Tin Wai Lam very much. One day Song Yee Mun caught Wong Kei Ying looking at a hairpin that he had given to Tin Wai Lam. She realized that she stood only second behind Tin Wai Lam in Wong Kei Ying's heart. She too decided to leave Wong Kei Ying and left a note. Now Wong Kei Ying became depressed having lost both women. Many years later, on the day that Wong Kei Ying opened his new school Bo Chi Lam, Song Yee Mun returned. At once Wong Kei Ying was very happy to see her. Song Yee Mun then revealed that she had brought Tin Wai Lam along with her as well. At once Wong Kei Ying was over filled with joy and ran up to hug Tin Wai Lam, who was also happy to see him. Finally they meet each other once more, but will they ever to together?

RATING - 6/10

"The Kung Fu Master From Guangdong", was another well produced series. As a joint production with TVB the series was filmed in mandarin and required a voice over for the Cantonese version. The voiceovers took part of the actors unique abilities away from the series. Despite this fact, you could still grasp the brilliance of the acting in the series. It was also the first time that I have seen Leung Ching, and I thought she was very impressive. Lau Kam Ling was terrific also, her dress and her manner made her perfect for the role of a western educated Chinese. The supporting cast performed exceptionally well also.

I like the hand to hand combats throughout the series. The fighting was fast moving and the scenes depicted real explosive kung fu. It beats having to top kung fu experts parting their legs in a crotch stance with their hands locked together in a display of strength, like most other ancient series. The fight scenes were well thought out, with the use of various physical objects such as table and ladders. The series had enough fight scenes to keep my interest.

The ending was appropriate for the series. The love between Tin Wai Lam and Wong Kei Ying was unpredictable throughout the series so it was fitting to have a hanging ending from which no certain conclusions can be drawn. I must admit their relationship did take the audience on an emotional ride of ups and downs. It was gut wrenching to have them together and then to have then separate. In the end it was not fate that brought them to meet again but the efforts of Song Yee Mun. The plot did enough to hold my interest although it did contain various flat spots. The extras such as the theme song and music were okay, nothing to rave about. Costumes appropriately selected. But once again there is really nothing impressive about this series that separates it from other series so 6 out of 10 is in my mind a fair rating.

WONG YAT WAH AS WONG KEI YING

It had been a while since I've seen Felix Wong Yat Wah perform, and it was disappointing not to be able to hear his real voice. This did take some of his unique heroic stature out of the series. Apart from that he played the role quite well. Combat scenes were performed well and Felix's movements made the kung fu action look realistic. Much critics of Felix on this series were on his age. However despite his age Felix did enough to resemble a young man at heart. After all not all young men in this world look young, and not all of the aged men in this world look old.

I like the casting of this series, which partnered Felix with Leung Ching, and Lau Kam Ling. They put on a great show. Felix was able to draw the audience towards their relationship, through his brilliant display of emotion. Even without hearing his voice, the emotion that he demonstrates during the series can be seen through his facial expressions. That is what make's Felix a great actor, the combination of his voice and superior actions. He can undertake various different dispositions to reflect different states of emotion better than most other actors. This series proves that Felix still has a right to be a main actor in a series.
