On the night of their wedding Dong Kwok comes up with a plan to save them both. Unfortunately Lam Kong yin had made Yin hung Yip into a zombie and returns to Lam Kong Sai Ka. Meanwhile Dong Kwok works on a method of healing the zombies. Dong Kwok test his method on Kong Boon Sit, but fails. Kong Boon Sit becomes crazy. Meanwhile Lam Kong Yin attempts to marry Yin Hung Yip to Tak Bat Lo Jo. Yik Siu Han rescues Yin Hung Yip, and Dong Kwok injures Tak Bat Lo Jo with his Gow Chin Fei Sau. Lam Kong Yin takes advantage of the injured Tak Bat Lo Jo and kills him. He then defeats Sing Sing Fu Yan and Dong Kwok, and drains them of their kung fu. Yik Siu Han was the only one remaining who could defeat Lam Kong Yin, but he was worried about Yin Hung Yip. Yik Siu Han was then persuaded by Dong Kwok who wanted to use his healing powers once more to attempt to heal Yin Hung Yip. This time Dong Kwok was successful and Yin Hung Yip was healed. Yin Hung Yip and Yik Siu Han then practice the kung fu left behind by Lam Kong yin's master together. Lam Kong Yin was then challenged by the others to a duel, but they were no match for his powers. Yik Siu Han and Yin Hung Yip then arrives to rescue their friends. They proceeded to use the kung fu they had learnt to defeat Lam Kong Yin, who was then killed by Dong Kwok's Gow Chin Fei Sau. Ten years after defeating Lam Kong Yin, we find Dong Kwok and Yik Siu Han drinking at the prostitute parlor. Even Song Hiu Yeung has been turned into a playboy by Yik Siu Han. The wives come to the parlor and the three men are left to explain their actions. RATING - 6/10 "The Young Wanderer", is a story with little purpose. The main character in the story, Yik Siu Han is at the end of one extreme of life. He is a lazy, lucky person who achieves many things in life without trying. Something we all aspire to achieve. Song Hiu Yeung represents the other extreme of life. A hard working, dumb, loyal, and ready to die for a good cause. From beginning to end the main character does not change much except for his relationship with Yin Hung Yip. At the end we find him at the prostitute parlor, much like at the beginning. Besides being a very funny story there isn't much going for "The young Wanderer" in terms of plot. The plot is very simple and is a routine of common plots used by TVB. What was impressive in this serial was the superb acting by the actors particularly, Chin Pei who played Dong Kwok. Chin Pei made Dong Kwok's character come alive. Felix Wong Yat Wah was superb also along with the supporting actors who played To Yat Tu, and Song Hiu Yeung. The superb acting made this story very funny, without the need to pull silly faces and talk like idiots like some other comedies produced by TVB. WONG YAT WAH AS YIK SIU HAN It was good to see Wong Yat Wah in different role. Yik Siu Han is quite different to other roles Wong Yat Wah has acted in over the years. Usually Wong Yat Wah is gets the role of a tragic hero, or power obsessed villain. Yik Siu Han is a very lazy individual who doesn't like authority or put in a position of authority. Therefore he constantly rejects the attempts made by other people to teach him kung fu, which requires dedication and effort. He also refused to be accepted as a student by Dong Kwok. He did not like being the leader of Shaolin or Tin Cheung Gow. Yik Siu Han also doesn't like to put his life in danger no matter whether the cause is good or bad. He therefore attempts to fake his own death to free him of the burden of doing so many times. Yik Siu Han likes to live an easy life, cheating people of money and spending his days at the prostitute parlor. Yik Siu Han is also a charmer, which allows him to get closer to Yin Hung Yip. His life is riddled by luck. For instance he gets all of his kung fu by luck. Usually these types of roles are better suited for Andy Lau Tak Wah and Tony Leung Chiu Wai who look more convincing as playboys then Wong Yat Wah. However I was quite surprised by Wong Yat Wah's acting in this series, particularly at the beginning. His acting at the beginning of the series was superb. He brought the characteristics of Yik Siu Han alive. His acting did begin to falter a little towards the end. But overall it was a top performance demonstrating his overall versatility. He teamed up very well with Chin Pei to make a terrific comic duo. CREDITS [SERIES INDEX] [HOME]
