The Dark CrystalComics

The Marvel Super Special issue, (#24, Feb. 1983, originally $2.50), the highest-quality Marvel Super Special I have yet seen, perhaps almost as good as some full-color comics sold today. There are two versions, the trade-paperback style one, and the staple bound one. Large format, ink and paint illustrations on coated paper-stock, includes a section of photo stills from the film and even a few Brian Froud sketches! The story has been compressed remarkably well into a comic-book format. Highly recommended.
   AUTHOR: Kraft, David Anthony.

Special Collector's Edition. Includes the "World of the Dark Crystal" making-of documentary, (60 mins, mono audio & non-widescreen), the theatrical trailer, and the emperor's funeral scene with the Skeksis speaking in their original language, (tacked on the end as a supplement, not restored into the film). VERY dark transfer, supposedly supervised by Jim Henson before his death. Apparently the discs themselves also had a high defect rate which significantly cut down on the availiable number of copies.
