Dark Shadows/Millennium cross over part 2

EXT. COLLINWOOD NIGHT
VICTORIA WINTERS: (V. O.)"A full moon casts its illumination across the country
side, lighting the
way for one boy. A boy just setting foot on the pathway to
Manhood.
Along that pathway can be found a variety of obstacles. This
evening
the boy will encounter someone - or something - that may
alter his
destiny forever..."
EXT. WIDOWS HILL NIGHT
DAVID COLLINS, a twelve year old boy, is climbing Widows Hill. He is
carrying a large, expensive telescope. He reaches the top of the
hill and begins setting up the telescope. He is so intent
on what he is doing , DAVID doesn’t notice LUCY BUTLER sitting
on a rock some yards away. DAVID completes setting up the
telescope and steps back , showing great pride in what he has done.
DAVID COLLINS:" That’s it! All set up and ready to go."
LUCY BUTLER: (off screen)" It’s beautiful, isn’t it?"
DAVID: (frightened) "Who’s there?"
ROLL OPENING CREDITS
EXT. WIDOWS HILL NIGHT
DAVID: (more frightened) "I said , who’s there?"
LUCY: gets up from the rock and steps forward towards DAVID COLLINS.
LUCY: " I’m sorry, David. I didn’t mean to startle you. I’m Lucy Butler."
LUCY holds out her hand and David reluctantly takes it.
DAVID: " How do you know me?"
LUCY: " Oh, I’m a friend of your cousin, Barnabas. He’s told
me so much about you. He bought that telescope for you, didn’t he?"
DAVID: "Yeah, he got it for me. Cousin Barnabas is my
favorite relative. What did you mean, “It’s quite beautiful.”?
LUCY: (smiling) " Why, the moon, of course."
DAVID: (looks into the sky) "Yeah, I guess it is. Ya know, in two months
Apollo 11 is gonna land on the moon! I’m so excited.
I hope I’ll be able to see it through this telescope."
Lucy’s eyebrows arch.
LUCY: " I hope you won’t be disappointed."
DAVID: "Oh, I won’t be. One day I’m gonna go to the moon."
LUCY: "Do you really think that’s possible, David?"
DAVID: "Sure, I do! I’ve seen Walter Cronkite explain exactly how we’re
gonna do it."
LUCY: "No, no, David. I understand how the astronauts are
going to go to the moon. After all, they are
great men with years of training and education behind them.
No, David I mean you.
Do you really believe You’ll go
to the moon some day?"
DAVID: (not really sure) "Of- of course I do!!!"
LUCY: "David, how are your grades? What does Miss Winters say
about your grades?"
DAVID: (hedging)
" I - I do okay. I got an “A” in penmanship!"
LUCY folds her arms. DAVID will not look her in the eye.
DAVID: “B”s and “C”s. Mostly “C”s..."
LUCY: "David, there’s nothing to be ashamed of at being a
“C” student. It’s okay to be average."
DAVID: "I don’t wanna talk about this anymore!"
LUCY takes both of DAVID’s hand in hers and squeezes them.
LUCY: "That’s okay, I understand."
DAVID gives LUCY an embarrassed smile.
LUCY: (gestures to the telescope)
" Why don’t you find the Sea of Tranquillity for me?"
INT. OLD HOUSE NIGHT
BARNABAS and JULIA are seated in the parlour. JULIA is very
upset .
JULIA: "Barnabas, you don’t understand. Lucy Butler is an extremely
dangerous woman. Lucy has the ability to--- I don’t know how
to say it without sounding foolish! She seems to have an
almost supernatural ability to convince a person to do ..well..
almost anything."
BARNABAS: “Almost anything”?
JULIA: "Yes, and if I didn’t know better I would have to say
that you had fallen under her spell."
BARNABAS: "You fell under her spell?"
JULIA (stiffening her back)
"All right. What do you want? What do you want me to say ?
That back at school we were lovers? Is that it? Very
well! Lucy and I were lovers. I said it! It happened
a long time ago, but, if it got out it would ruin
me professionally."
BARNABAS: "I doubt that, Julia. It’s 1969! Peoples attitudes are
changing. Free love is in the air..."
JULIA: "Damn it, don’t mock me, Barnabas! There’s more at stake
here than you know! When Lucy said she had left the
university due to “circumstances beyond her control” it was an
understatement. Several of the brightest pre-med students had turned up
missing. I happen to know that all of them had been
intimately involved with Lucy Butler. When the authorities began investigating
the disappearances, Lucy , herself, suddenly up and left... No
one knew where she had gone .. or why.
BARNABAS: "You knew?"
JULIA: "I suspected why she left.. but I had no idea where.
I couldn’t go to the authorities with what I knew..."
BARNABAS: "Julia, whatever fears you have concerning Lucy Butler, put
them at ease. I am more than capable of dealing with
anything she has to offer.
JULIA: "I pray you’re right, Barnabas! I pray you’re right."
