Friday, April 9, 1999 - IMPORTANT ANNOUCEMENT. I just want to thank everyone for the great responses to the site. I had no idea the site would be so popular. Unfortunately, because of job responsibities and such, the site is a little too much for me to maintain. But don't lose hope, it will be here and I will be back soon to provide you with great updates, links, and much more! For those of you with your own Benigni sites, keep it up and I suggest you register with IMDb and yahoo! so people can find out about your sites! Sunday, April 4, 1999 - Sorry for the delay folks. I've been sorting through all the great e-mails. I've updated the fans' reatcions with some great words of praise. I'm currently working on a foreign one as well for all those italian and other foreign e-mails I've been receiving. *** Many of you have been sending me links. Keep 'em coming. I'm currenly setting up a links page for all of them. In addition, these links should help a lot of you who have asked about more biographical info for Roberto. Tuesday, March 30, 1999 - ***BREAKING NEWS*** Benigni's "Monster" Returning to Screens Roberto Benigni, who won two Oscar last week for "Life is Beautiful," will soon be on screen in another acclaimed movie, with the re-release of his 1994 film, "The Monster" (Il Mostro). Lions Gate Film's (LGF) Co-Presidents Tom Ortenberg and Mark Urman confirmed that the movie, which was released theatrically by LGF predecessor Cinepix Film Properties (CFP) -- it will open in L.A. on Friday, and head to NYC on April 16th. Check back later in the week for more updates! Sunday, March 28, 1999 - I have begun to post all those great fans' reactions. Keep 'em coming. TV ALERT! - Roberto will be part of a panel of Oscar nominated directors at "Director's Vision '99, The: Hollywood's Best Discuss Their Craft" which will be airing on Sundance Channel on Monday, March 29. Thursday, March 11, 1999 - Oscar fever rises and in recognition, I've added a countdown to the big day as well as a page with a list of all of Life is Beautiful's nominations and its contenders. See it here. Sunday, March 7, 1999 - Roberto wins Best Actor at the SAG Awards! Congratulations to Roberto! Next stop...the Oscars! Click here to see pics and video from the event. *** I would also like to mention the passing of Stanley Kubrick. A master filmmaker who has contributed so much to the art of American cinema. Saturday, March 6, 1999 - The 5th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be airing tomorrow, March 7, at 8pm ET and 5pm PT, Live on TNT. Life is Beautiful is up for two awards. Roberto is nominated for best male performance and the entire cast of the film is nominated for best cast performance. For more information on the awards, click here! Thursday, March 4, 1999 - "The Unofficial Roberto Benigni Fan Site" launches. Although the site is still under construction, its subject, Mr. Benigni continues to win accolades for "Life is Beautiful." Roberto Begnigni was born on October 27, 1952 in Misericordia, Arezzo, Italy. He has been the clown prince of Italian film for years. His influences include the comic geniuses of Charlie Chaplin , Buster Keaton, and Peter Sellers. He is married to actress and often, his co-star, Nicoletta Braschi.
